Captain Cyrus Caspian

Captain Cyrus, of the S.S. Caspian, found himself waking up- He was soaking wet with salt water, and his captain's hat was gone. However, that was the least of his worries. He found himself floating on-top of a piece of heavy-duty metal from the bow of the ship. The ship's name printed in fading white paint on it's surface. He looked around in shock to see the rest of S.S. Caspian.


"Oh, no no no..This can't be!" Frantically he looked around for his daughters, but there was no sign of them. Yet, he began to remember what happened last night. They are safe. I made sure of it.. After calming down, he removed his cloak and jacket so he wouldn't be weighed down in the water. Cyrus swam to the other parts of the boat wreckage, and managed to find a small bag and a battered radio before swimming back to the piece of metal he awoke on.

Cyrus tried the radio first. "Mayday! Mayday! This is Captain Cyrus of the S.S. Caspian, do you read me!?" He spoke. The radio responded with static. While he waited for a response, he looked through the bag he found. There was a small pocket knife, a flashlight, and a couple of oranges.

"Wellp, this is going to be awhile."

Hm? Oh! Wait, how are you- ?" Cyrus was a bit scatterbrained as he was in the water a second time to find more supplies. He wondered how another human he never saw before could be in the wreckage as well.
That's a unique hair color for a human- Wait! That's a mermaid!
As he realized this, another mermaid with pink hair came up to the surface.

"Oh, thank you both so much- I've been shipwrecked and it's been such a long morning." He replied.
Cyrus was starting to get a bit tired from swimming for so long.
To his luck, the pink-haired mermaid brought him something to sit on.

"Again, thank you." He said, taking a seat on the board.
His things weren't too far from they were, but that was still the least of his worries.
"Do you girls happen to know how far we are from France?"

"Oh, no need to apologize. I'm glad you're here. For a few moments there, I thought I would be a gonner. "
Cyrus responded, he was glad someone was here to help him.
Even if it took a week to get back home, at least he wouldn't starve.


"It's an honor to meet you Miku and Luka.
My name is Cyrus. Your secret is safe with me. " He replied.
"I've met a few mermaids in my lifetime,
they all asked the same thing. Don't worry."


"Thanks again, by the way.
If there is anything I can do to repay you both for your kindness,
I'm willing to assist in any way I can."

"No problem, and thanks again, Miku."
He said this with a friendly smile despite how exhausted he was.
"I'm sure we'll figure out something." After Miku left, it was just him and Luka. She asked what had happened to the S.S. Caspian.


"The S.S. Caspian was a fine ship. Her fate was sealed during the storm last night. It caused a huge wave to blow over the ship. Sadly, it capsized and remains in pieces. Before the wreck, I was able to put my daughters into a lifeboat and get them to safety. I hope they are okay. He explained.

As Luka spoke, Cyrus became a bit melancholy.
"Yes, it was. I am sorry to hear about your parents. I lost mine when I wasn't much older than you." He responded."You both have good hearts to be helping us humans out after what had happened. It must've been very hard for you both."
After Cyrus said this, he averted his eyes for a moment as he noticed his bag float over towards the wood he was sitting on. "Hey! It's the bag I had from earlier." He chimed, taking one of the oranges from it and beginning to peel it. "Ever try an orange before? They're really sweet. Like candy.."

Cyrus chuckled slightly.
"Here, try it." He said, handing her a slice of orange." My family is pretty important to me. I have two beautiful daughters back home. Their names are Norah and Cordelia. I guess you could say I'm familiar with keeping secrets- Because they're half-mermaids. No one except for us really knew about it. They can change into mermaids whenever they like, as long as there is water around."
Cyrus explained. "My wife's name was Skye. She was a mermaid, but she died a long time ago. I had to raise our children on my own, but I guess I haven't done too bad. I just hope they're safe." He said, taking a bite of another orange slice before speaking once more. "Now I wonder, what was your family like?"
