Yakov was fine with doing anything really. He was here to ascertain if Pale Horse Enterprises had anything to do with the horsemen and if yes, to what extent so he was absolutely fine with being a janitor even if that was the only job opening the company had at the moment for an applicant like him.
As it turned out, there was an opening for the role of a software developer at present so Yakov found himself ushered to an office and left in the care of a young lady who helpfully showed him how to find his way around the office building and how to work some of the applications that he would be working with before leaving him to his own devices at the work station that was assigned to him.
So far so good in getting in. Might as well get started on some of the tasks that were assigned to his station lest they dismissed him for being unproductive. Going over the instructions that accompanied the first task of the day, Yakov got to work on the coding right away. It was relatively easy but he realised that he had mistakenly uploaded it onto the wrong location shortly after the upload was completed.
Ah well. Looks like he would have to delete the file and upload it again to where it was supposed to go. As soon as he hit the delete button however, the server crashed and he stared wide eyed at the error message that showed up on his screen. Oh s**t. What did he do wrong this time?
It wasn't long before one of the programmers showed up, albeit with a huge frown on his face at the resultant inconvenience, with a thumb drive in his hand which he plugged into the terminal to restore the directory that somehow was accidentally deleted at the same time along with Yakov's file.
"Be careful before you delete anything the next time newbie." Was what he mumbled as he retrieved the thumb drive to presumably return to his own work station as soon as the directory was restore and everything was up and running once more.
