Creation Description
___ Even to hunters, it is unsure when the first breed of werewolves began. There are tales of monstrous men all throughout the history of the world. However, for those born into old family lines, they have their own creation story. This story is the culmination of many bloodlines and powers to form the modern werewolf.
___ One of the origins start in Egypt where Anubis decided to bless his most faithful priest and turned them into his servants. These men could travel the land as humans and teach others in the ways of proper burial, as well as turn into wolves to transport the souls of the dead to the afterlife. They were also blessed with the ability to take the pain of the dying as a final gift.
___ After the golden age of Egypt began to set, there are myths from the Akkadian region that said the goddess Ishtar cursed a previous lover (a god of shepherds named Dumuzi) to take the shape of a wolf. This wolf continued to roam around the world as he seemed unable to die but unable to return back into a human. As Ishtar lost her lust for revenge, yet unable to reverse what she’d done, she gave her former lover the ability to transform other humans into wolves through a bite so that he did not need to be so lonely; making him the first alpha. He, however, never bit a human as he did not want to be like the capricious goddess who had changed him out of spite. It was this strength of will as well as the respect of every god he encountered that gave him strength. Dumuzi would later settle down with a born she-wolf named Lilith, passing this alpha power onto each child.
___ As Dumuzi traveled the world in his loneliness there was an ancient Greco-Roman king named Lycaon who sacrificed a child of Ares. This got Zeus' attention. He spoke to Lycaon (through the use of priests) and told him to discontinue the eating of human flesh. Lycaon reject his divinity and continued with his own habits. When Zeus came down for one of Lycaon's ritualistic feats he found that his follower was eating human flesh despite his decree. In return for his and his family's wickedness, Zeus cursed them to be wolves until they repented and regained their own humanity again. The many children and wives that were under his rule were also given an additional burden. Since they had listened to their father and lord, they would always have to listen. Thus forming the pack bonds that they could not break.
___ Later on Artemis, goddess of the Hunt, took a little pity them and bestoyed them with the gift of communication. They could communicate with each other like any other canine as well as the ability to communicate with humans through their claws and fangs if they were careful. This massive pack traveled around to try and find a way to cure themselves and take on human form again, running into the Druids from Northern European regions. The Druids were able to understand them and tried to help, however it is the act of one female wolf in particular that brought humanity back to their family.
___ Lupa, later becoming known as the Capitoline Wolf, nursed a set of twins known as Romulus and Remus when she found their human family destroyed after a battle. Little did she know that these were also the sons of Ares. With the help of the druids and the two half-gods, the Lycaon pack slowly regained their humanity and with that their human form. They did not, however, regain it completely. They were still subjects to their father and the wolf inside of them. They also could not rejoin normal human society as they did not seem to appear to age due to their ability to heal. However, as they were little stronger than normal wolves, humans were able to mortally wound them as time went on which trickled down the bloodline.
___ Around that same time, Baldur, youngest son of the Nordic god Odin, spent most of his godly life learning to be immune to most worldly things under the instruction of his mother. However, they missed one thing - mistletoe. Loki discovered this and acted on a grudge against Odin by taking it out on his son Baldur. Baldur went around to the other gods and boasted that nothing could kill him; even challenging them to try. Loki used Hodur to slip Baldur some mistletoe which resulted in Baldur dying. When Odin found this out, he decided that Loki must also feel the pain of losing a youngest child. He said that he would curse the weakest of Loki's young twin children by Sigyn, to take the shape of a wolf as he didn't want to kill the godling directly. In an attempt to avoid the curse, Nari killed Vali. Odin decreed that this cruelty was a sign of weakness and cursed him into the shape of a red eyed wolf (wolves having already run in the family). Nari then ran off into the wild never to be seen by the Norse gods again.
___ Nari ran into a group of people who were able to be both human and wolf; the Greco-Roman branch. He fell in love with one of them and married into them as the female, Lupa's daughter named Luna, had gotten pregnant by him while in wolf form. All his children were born with his red eyes and superior power, while still maintaining their mother's ability to shift at will. He took his small family back up north where hunting was less overrun with humans and settled in that area. His children gained his supernatural strength even when compared to other werewolves and their mother's ability to turn into a human and a wolf nearly at will.
___ Nari's first born daughter named Octavia met a foreign looking werewolf by the name of Seth (who was banished from the priests and cursed so that he could not share their secrets), descendant of the Anubis line, and married him. Their children gained all of their mother's abilities plus that of their father's ability to take away pain. The youngest daughter named Lilith from this union met with Dumuzi, the original wolf that inspired most of these curses, and eventually fell in love. They were very prolific in reproducing. Their children inherited all of their powers which made them the original alphas. All alpha power lines stem from them which is why there are only a fixed number of alphas at any one time in the world. Of course more Alphas rise as a True Alpha every so often to replace the lines of power that died out over the centuries. However it still means that all modern werewolves are descended from Dumuzi and Lilith, either bitten or born.
___ In fact, the only humans that turn after being bitten are distantly descended from one of the original groups of human-wolves that bred with humans to have children. They could have descended from the Egyptian, Greco-Roman, or the Norse lines at any point prior to, during, or after the intermingling of the bloodlines. These ancestors would have been born human but would have continued to pass along their ability to be bitten and turned instead of dying from the infection. This is why some humans die when they are bit and others survive. Nari and Dumuzi, to this day, are still around. They are unable to take human form like their descendants. Neither have taken steps to create more werewolves since the time of Lilith. Lilith is known to the werewolf community as the mother of all.
Status
___Out of all of the supernatural species in the world, Werewolves were by far the most prolific in spreading out around the globe. They can reproduce as well as bite humans to turn them into werewolves. As such there are more werewolves around the world than any other singular species (except, of course, humans). Not all modern werewolves are equal of course. There are three ranks of werewolves and each come with a different level of power. They are as following:
- Alphas are the highest rank of werewolves. This is because of the fact that they are the strongest of the werewolves. They not only have extra physical strength compared to other werewolves but they are able to command lower ranked werewolves, forcing their obedience. They are also the only werewolves that can turn a human into another werewolf.
Betas are werewolves who are in a pack but are not an Alpha. They are much stronger than a human, but not as strong as an Alpha.
Omegas are the lowest rank of werewolves. They do not have a pack and are weakened by that fact. Usually there is a reason that they do not have a pack as they were thrown out or abandoned by their Alpha.
Supernatural Information
___Animal Magnetism - They have a way about them, a sort of animal magnetism, that attracts others when they might have otherwise been obscure. Much like their wolf counterparts the werewolves secrete mating pheromones that even humans are very subtly able to pick up on even if it's not consciously registered.
___Creating Werewolves by breeding - Human - werewolf relationships have a chance to create a werewolf child. A bitten werewolf with a human has a twenty-five percent chance of producing a werewolf child. A born werewolf with a human has a fifty percent chance of creating a werewolf child. A bitten werewolf with a bitten werewolf has a fifty percent chance of creating a werewolf. A bitten werewolf with a born werewolf has a seventy-five percent chance of creating a werewolf child. And a born werewolf with another born werewolf has a one hundred percent chance of creating a werewolf child.
___Alpha Bite - Not only can they breed to increase the population, but certain werewolves known as Alphas are able to turn humans into werewolves as well. This happens by them biting a human and transferring a spark to the human which takes root inside. If the human does not die from the bite they will become a Beta werewolf.
___Physical Aspects - Werewolves can pass as human a majority of the time. However, when shifted they have bilateral fangs and claws as well as a slightly restructured cranial ridge. Their eyes take on a supernatural glow depending on their status. Red eyes are for Alphas, yellow eyes are for most Betas and Omegas, and blue eyes are for Betas or Omegas that have taken human life and feel guilt over such an event.
___Physical Limits - Werewolves are very physical creatures. They are faster, stronger, more durable, and have more stamina than humans.
___Healing - Werewolves are able to heal from almost every wound at a supernatural rate. Alphas heal the quickest, then Betas, and finally Omegas heal the slowest. Even at their slowest healing rate, werewolves heal twenty times faster than regular humans. Betas have been seen to heal from wounds that would have killed a normal human within a couple of hours and Alphas heal even faster than that. This healing also allows them to age much more slowly than humans; to date, no werewolf has died from the effects of old age. Despite the healing they are not immortal; beheading or Hemicorporectomy will kill them as surely as it would a human.
___Advanced Senses - Werewolves sense of smell, sight, hearing, and balance are very advanced. Werewolves have senses equal to that of a natural wolf as well as all the best human aspects and are able to isolate sounds with focus. These advance senses include the ability to see heat signatures when the eyes have shifted. This, however, can cause problems as strong scents, sounds, and bright lights can cause them to lose focus or even cause them pain.
___Pack Bond - Werewolf Betas are supernaturally loyal to their Alpha. It's to the point that they are unable to even give someone a general location while under torture. With this bond, Alphas can give commands to their Betas through an Alpha Roar.
___Alpha Roar - Alphas have the ability to call out and stop their Betas even in mid attack, and force submission. This bond can even force them to shift. This roar can be used against other shifters in order to temporarily force submission.
___Memory Transference - Highly skilled werewolves can learn to tamper with, view, or share memories by inserting their claws into the neck (spinal column) of others.
___Ciphering Pain - With practice, werewolves can take the physical pain away from others through touch. They absorb this pain and feel it for themselves instead.
___Special Transformations - Certain werewolves can transform into different wolven forms. There are those who can transform into various different breeds of wolves. And there are those, generally considered most monster than men, who can turn into a Lycan form. The Lycan form is a more bipedal, monstrous form that often populates the horror movie genre. Noted figures that have taken this form are Le Bete Du Gevaudan and Peter Hale.
___Wolfsbane - Wolfsbane is their biggest weakness. All the different types of wolfsbane affect them differently - ranging from intoxication and to death.
___Mistletoe - Much like wolfsbane, mistletoe is a poison to werewolves. The oil of mistletoe can even block werewolf's sense of smell.
___Rowan Oak - Also known as Mountain Ash when it's in ash form. This wood can create a barrier which almost no werewolf can pass. The only exception to this is a True Alpha and even then they have to struggle. Even with their advanced strength werewolves are not able to break any structure made of Rowan Oak.
___Hecatolite - Can be used to displace the powers of moonlight. Werewolves can be trapped in a room of Hecatolite and thus with their connection to the moon disrupted, they would be in a weakened state.
