[ JOB LISTING ] Guard [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_stargaia_stargaia_star [ TASK ] Thing's are getting a bit heated near one of the embassies, and additional guards are needed.
Quote:
One of the side effects of having War clan members visiting often is that sometimes they have an effect on the local populace. Which isn't necessarily terrible, but embassy buildings don't grow on trees. Except for the wooden ones, maybe, but those are extremely flammable. Anyway, calls for extra gaurds at the various embassies aren't uncommon, and this time it's Edict herself who takes notice of you.
"Go help."
Conquest isn't one to mince words, to be honest, but ignoring them isn't wise.
Pick any city in the world to have this take place and roll 3d4 for three prompts. You can have your character try to duck out of guard duty instead by rolling 1d10. 1-9 they get caught and you need to write all 4 prompts instead. Roll a 10 and they successfully don't get caught, after a fun day in the city causing a ruckus, they get back and join in time to receive pay and commendation for a job well done.
Embassy HP: 1000 A crude bomb of some sort is lobbed over the wall. You can choose to try tossing it over, defusing it, or containing the explosion. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP A rioting mob storms the doors, there are literal torches and pitchforks being waved about. It's actually kind of charming, but this is no time for nostalgic remembrance! Fight them off, persuade them, or barricade the building. Roll 1d4 - even is successful, odd is a failure. Failure costs the embassy 250 HP (but no need to continue rolling for this prompt!) Hunters have infiltrated the battle zone, discreetly joining the human attacks. Pick them out and pick them off as best you can. Roll 6d100 to determine how much damage the hunters (and possibly you yourself) cause before you get rid of them A War Heir has gone happily berserk at the fighting and transformed into a fifty foot monster horse. Roll 1d100 to soothe them. If you roll any number containing 1 or 9, you succeed. If you don't, then that number is the damage taken by the embassy. Continue rolling until they are successfully soothed.
Should the embassy fall, Edict shows a quiet display of disappointment in you and has you removed from her sight for the rest of the day.

Ignacio actually enjoyed the idea of the chaos taking place at the Embassy. This was a Horsemen Embassy, after all. Anything to make their day more inconvenient was alright in his book.
Of course, he forgot that he just so happened to be trying to infiltrate the horsemen that day. Because of course he did. And of course one of them wanted him to actually help out and stop the rampaging, because if he was a Horseman, he wouldn't exactly want to see this Embassy destroyed.
Except he did.
Except he didn't.
Ignacio sighed, obeying orders and going out to see what was attacking them this time, so he could stop it.
He found himself face-to-face with three very tall, very angry Horsewomen of War.
Oh boy.

He stands at 5'11" and usually has a giant grin on his face.
Ignacio was fairly sure he could take on a War Heir, but by the same token, he also didn't want to. Plus, that might look suspicious.
So he had to figure out some way to calm them down.
To the first one, he stared up and attempted to take a confident stance. What would a horseman say to another horseman to calm them down? "We've collected a whole bunch of fear from you being so big like that! I think you can take it down a notch now. It'll be fine!"
Apparently that was all he needed to say, because one of the horsewomen suddenly shrunk from her high height and turned back into a ... relatively normal looking horsewoman. That was a relief. He still had to deal with two others, though.

Maybe he should just try the same method, different wording?
"We're got plenty of FEAR here. We're good! You don't need to--"
The screech he got in response from both horsewomen answered his question. One of them actually went around him and took a swipe at the Embassy. That definitely wasn't it.
Though he appreciated giving the Horsemen more work to do.

Okay, it was time for a different method. What did War Horsemen like, exactly?
Besides for War.
Fighting? They liked fighting. Maybe if he came up with a story of a good fight-- "Hey, I noticed back at the Tower, two of the other Heirs were going at it! It's a great battle--"
The horsewoman almost immediately turned back from the enraged giant horse into a normal horsewoman, and ran off to go back to the Tower to go watch.
Unfortunately, the story didn't seem to suck in the third one, who let out a rather annoyed snort.

The horsewoman remaining was outraged, and made something that sounded like a whinny before charging at the Embassy and headbashing it.
Oh boy.

Considering this horsewoman seemed determined to destroy the Embassy, Ignacio briefly thought of just letting her do it. He didn't really care if he was shamed by the horsemen, ultimately. After all, he wasn't a horseman.
But the Death Hunters wouldn't appreciate his utter failure to gather information and instead just destroy things.
Still, maybe he'd wait a little longer before making a true effort to stop her.

Then again, some of the other horsemen seemed to be glaring at him, now, like he was expected to fix it. Maybe he should actually get a move on and get her to stop knocking over the Embassy.

The horsewoman clearly wasn't listening. Maybe he needed to try and get her attention back, somehow.
Maybe he should try chucking something at her? There was a lot of debris sitting around, now, mostly from the top of the Embassy where she had been tearing at it. He grabbed a small piece of concrete from the ground and threw it at her direction. It pinged off her ineffectually.

He ducked out of the way of another piece of the Embassy. Some of the horsemen around him were actually starting to seem a bit alarmed, but Ignacio still hadn't quite figured out what to do.
His eyes spotted a bigger piece of debris, perhaps one that wasn't as dense as the concrete, but it should still make an impact. He plucked up the pole, spinning it through the air and smacking it into the butt of the horse.
She seemed to notice it, but she was still too busy tearing at things. Something else went flying.

Was she listening? It looked like one of the horse's ears moved, but he wasn't actually anything of a horse expert. He sort of understood War Horsemen and their love of destruction, though.
Maybe...
"Look, if you keep destroying it, there will be nothing to destroy later! Maybe chill out and let them rebuild a bit!"
To his amazement, that actually seemed to work. He watched as the horsewoman shrunk down, before giving a large bellow of amusement and slapping him on the shoulder. "Good point!" And with that, she walked away.
And the Embassy was about half-destroyed, so that was a bonus he supposed...
