Pinching the bridge of her nose Kithryn wondered, not for the first time, why the ******** she was sneaking into a pet shop in the middle of the night. A Horseman pet shop, to boot, where there were legions of fish that were decidedly Not Right. Which answered the question she was asking herself: she was here because there was something going on with those fish. Something tied to the disappearances that were happening whenever a Hunter spent more than a day trying to infiltrate this place the less aggressive way.

She wasn’t really here to do anything about this, though. This was a fact-finding mission where the Life Intermediate was here to secure a specimen for study. It was Death’s job to solve the disappearance mystery and Sun and Moon’s job to do something about it. She was just one lone girl, here after hours, just trying to do...something.

A light burned in the back of the shop but she knew that there would be a few of the fish out front. Getting through the front door was easy. What was problematic was the fact that unlike previous nights there were none of the gold monstrosities to be found anywhere in the massive front tanks. Every single one of them was empty.
<******** hell…” Muttering under her breath the brunette summoned her weapon and began to move further into the store. If she ran into serious trouble then she might be able to crack her pendant and get the ******** out of there. Maybe.

A voice was loudly singing in Japanese, off-key, back towards the light. She would be alright. She had to be. God this singing was awful!

The words echoed off the walls in a strange pattern that made her feel...pursued. Several times her head swiveled around as she tried to find just a single specimen to take back. So she wouldn’t be a failure. Just one!

As the song drew to a close and the word ROCKS! echoed over and over she screamed as a face appeared right in front of hers. Before she even knew what was happening she was smacked against the wall, disarmed, and being dangled over a tank full of the biggest fish she had ever seen in her life.

Its mouth gaped open and closed as it flapped uselessly about, splashing and doing nothing more. “Nakama will grow strong on you. Nakama is love. Nakama is life.” The words were both cheerful and harsh, the last thing she ever heard, before being dropped to her death.
