This was how he was going to die. He just knew it. He didn't even live his life as fully as he wanted to. His quest for color was going to be cut short. Some large beast was going to prowl around and find a delicious little morsel to snack on. The morsel being him. He knew he should have not followed that damned lizard. Reptiles. Never trust them. Especially oddly shaped ones.

Attempting to move his foot from between a gap in the rocks, he grimaced. He was good and well stuck. Usually, he would find the brighter side of it. But the day had just been one challenge after the next, the the brighter side could just jump off a cliff. First the stampede, then his lunch stolen, and now this... his stomach grumbled on cue. He wondered if he would first starve to death before his body became dinner.

.......

What?!

Hadithi slowed his step as he neared what looked to be another animals back half in between two rocks. Seemed odd. Out of place. Unusual. Made him wonder why they were even there. It didn't seem like they were moving......were they stuck?

The lion plopped himself down cautiously next to the strange being. Possibly a wild dog, but he couldn't tell for sure. Not without looking at their front. "Are you comfortable?" he peered towards the gap in attempt to see if there was any extra room for him before he started looking for other nooks and crannies. A frown came over his maw when he noticed that there weren't any other ways to get in.

His shoulders slumped. He would rather talk to a face rather than a rump. Hadithi's eyes widened as realization dawned on him. The animal could be dead. With much care, he audibly sniffed around the animals stomach, nose barely grazing the fur. The issue was, they didn't smell dead.

Weird.

Oh no, oh no, oh no. Rangi attempted to rear in surprise over the voice, unable to hear or smell the other approaching within his confines. This was it, it was time to meet his maker, oh how he wished he could see his family one more time. He was still young. What did the creature even say? His panicked brain tried to back pedal, replay the words. Was he comfortable? Why, was he going to get eaten? Was this... this fiend the type to try to make his food chill out before attacking? Was it a sort of sick sadistic game? He was going to be eaten by a psychopath.

"No, I am not!" he gasped, suddenly in need of air. He couldn't catch his breath, he was going to die. He breathed rapidly, trying to suck in air into his lungs. It wasn't working. And then... he felt something graze his backside.

And he stopped breathing.

"Please don't eat me!" He wailed, wiggling to get free despite the pain. "There are still so many things I want to see! And things I got to do! I'm too young! I have a family! I probably taste disgusting, oh please don't eat me!" So, begging for his life was never what he imagined the end of his life would be like. But then, he honestly felt like he was going to live forever. At least, until now.

One brow furrowed as Hadithi tried to figured out what the animal was saying. His hearing was fuzzy at best. The lion's brow furrowed. Does that mean that he was losing his hearing already? Oh no.

How was he going to hear others with impaired ears?!

Hadithi laughed nervously and started to scratch at the back of his ears. "Sorry buddy, I couldn't quite catch tha---"

The lion jumped at his next words, having moved a bit ahead to see if he could hear the male better. It seemed to work. Either that or his ears were magically cured. Regardless he was extremely grateful to know that he can understand the----whatever this guy was. Chuckles fell out of his mouth and he shook his head before realizing that the male couldn't even hear him. What a shame; he was better at talking with body language than words.

"It's fine, It's fine. I'm not here to eat you. If you have things to do, then why are you stuck in a rock and a hard place?" He couldn't help but wonder. "You looking for something little fella?"

Rangi'ukungu jumped again at the sound of the voice, quivering where he stood. If his bladder wasn't empty, he may have unloaded it. Biting back the whimper, he shook his head, not believing the voice one bit. "I do have things to do, I just had to... had to... little fella?" Rangi yelped.

Little. He was little. To the voice, he was little. Which meant... eyes widening more his tail tucked. "W-w-w-what are you?" he squeaked. Any other day, he would have applauded the sound, finding it a close imitation to a rabbit's voice. But not today. Not now. He was little. Which meant the other male was big. Oh boy.

"I uh... I... get me out and I can leave. Look, I can pay you back, just don't eat me," he whimpered, eyes squeezing shut.

The lion sat there expectantly. Most would care to finish their sentences. It's what he expected. But this guy. This fella. He was a bit different.

The kind of different that the lion was interested in. What stories did he have to tell?

Hadathi sat silently until it seemed like the animal was done talking, smile growing wider at each word. "Why, I'm a lion!" he practically boasted. If he could thump on his chest, he would. He loved his heritage, even down to the species. His family was just so...interesting. Not lion like at all, if he was honest with himself. They all prided each other on being strong and independent.

Strange, now that he thought about it. Most lions were in packs by his age.

"What are you?" He sat there expectantly, and nearly fell to the floor when the little guy started begging for his life. This guy was way too funny.

The lion lifted a paw and shook it in dismissal. "I'm not here to eat you. Already had a big lunch myself." The broad grin on his maw fell then, eyes cloudy with confusion."But why do you want out when you have something to do there?" So strange, this guy.

A lion. Great. Doom washed over him as his mind tried to recall facts. Lions were big. Very big. And their mouths... could his head fit inside a jaw? He audibly gulped and shivered. "Wild dog," he whimpered though distracted with his own thoughts. Did lions play with their food beforehand? Or did they just kill? Was there a pack- a pride, of them? Another shudder ran through him.

"Are you alone?" he asked almost quietly, though he didn't know if it really mattered. He was going to die anyways-

His thoughts abruptly cut off. The lion was full. He already ate lunch. If Rangi could sag to the ground, he would. But, due to the rocks... Still, he felt every muscle relax, almost aching with the sudden release.

But, just because the lion wasn't going to eat him didn't solve his being stuck problem. "Look, just help me get out of here and I'll tell you what you want to know, alright?" He negotiated, attitude changing from the pitiful and pathetic whimper just seconds earlier.

A wild dog?! Hadathi's grin grew impossibly wide. Sure, he's heard of the species but he had never actually met one. A breathy amazement escaped his lips in a near whistle, his voice airy. Wow. A wild dog, huh? I've never met one of those before! Pleasure to meet you!"

His paws pitter pattered on the sand as he inched his way forward. This poor little guy sounded scared. Impossibly frightened. "I'm not here to hurt you! Hadathi nudged the canine's stomach. "Eating a puppy sounds a bit cruel now, don't you think?" Moles and other small animals, he could. But canines...that was a different story. They were too cute, too alive. Or maybe it was because he couldn't eat something that had a whimper so pitiful. Who knew.

The lion's thoughts were interrupted by the piping voice stuck between the two rocks. Help him? "Right, right!" Wide eyed, the feline grabbed his rump and pulled. Like this was what he meant to say, but since he had a mouthful of grey fur, all that came out was. "Lmm nn?" as he gently pulled.

This was unreal. He was having a conversation with something that could eat him -No, he's full- while being stuck. So, technically, the lion was having a conversation with his rump. If he had simply heard of the situation and not been the leading star of said situation, he may have found it humorous.

Rangi jumped when his stomach was nudged. Woah woah woah, what was going on. He opened his mouth to question it. And entirely different words left his mouth at a certain trigger word that was uttered. "I am not a puppy!" He growled, kicking his foot childishly. He had been a pup, he grew up. This lion was not going to take away his maturity. This very large, very lethal, very dangerous lion.

On second thought, the lion can say what he want.

Wincing when the lion sunk his teeth in, Rangi nearly yelled. Until he realized his skin wasn't being shredded and instead, he was being pulled. Suddenly he moved into action, throwing his shoulder into the rocks. Almost... almost... The rocks gave away suddenly, a breeze he hadn't felt the entire time in there was suddenly there. Sprawled back against the lion's paws, he stared at the small collapsed tunnel. Before he barked out a laugh. Never mind his injured foot, he was still alive! Thanks to... his head went backwards to stare up... and up... and up at the very big cat. "T-t-thank you," he squeaked, shrinking further back.

You know how a fish looks like when they're out of the water? Mouth agape, eyes wide with a side of dilated pupils?

That's what Hadathi thought he looked like as he stared down at the now free wild dog. He was so tiny! The lion lifted up one of his paws and gently put it on the wild dog's head briefly. "You're so tiny!" He gave the dog a wild grin before he placed his leg back down, deciding it was best to sit on his haunches.

It took him aback that he wasn't a puppy, however. But, he shrugged it off. They must be smaller than he was imagining. "No problem, doggo!" He flashed him a toothy grin. His skittishness was easily noticeable but, hey, he didn't seem like too bad of a guy.

Spending time with this stranger wasn't going to be too bad. Not bad at all.
