Information

The Dampyr are half vampires. They are the children of the monstrous vampires and the Shadowed they enslaved. The Dampyr were made by the vampires so that they would have soldiers that could invade the world outside of the Dark Lands. They were pruned for only the strongest, while the rest were disposed of. Because of this, some Dampyr have completely sided with the vampires, while others resent them.

Their relationship with the Shadowed is tentative at best even though they had been living in the same city before coming to Bastion's Rise. Most of the Shadowed who were once their parents have either faded or left. Many of the Shadowed see the Dampyr as a painful history they'd rather forget. Others hate them because of their ties to the undead that tortured them. Very few pity them since they had been the vampires' enforcers and soldiers. Because of this, Dampyr very rarely feel comradery with any outside their own race.

History

The Dampyr are a rather new race. They started out as half-breeds of the Vampires and Shadowed, working as soldiers and enforcers for the Vampires. They were treated only mildly better than the Shadowed themselves. The name "Dampyr" came about as a way of the Vampires calling them 'Lesser than Vampires". It was their way of branding them as not being good enough. This is a sentiment that grew among some factions of the Dampyr. The Dampyr reached out to Anastasia Blackmoon of the Shadowed, and together they staged a coup to relieve the Vampires of as many slaves and Dampyr as they could.

After finding their freedom, the Dampyr named Panagia as the High Elder and set up a total of nine other Elders which rule different factions among the Dampyr under the rule of Panagia. Many of the factions don't exactly see eye to eye, however, they make things work for the good of their people.

The Dampyr took Anastasia's offer and made a home in Shalinosa, as guests. However, not all Shadowed or Dampyr shared the Queen's enthusiasm. Having no where else to go, the Dampyr made their home there anyhow. Now, however, that the Vampires have retaken Shalinosa, the Dampyr and Shadowed have taken the drive to each make a home in Bastion's Rise.
