Andrew received a text on his phone from an unknown number, though it was obvious it came from someone at Deus, because other numbers were impossible. Text to: Andrew New mission 0900 at the Golem Lab, extra pay for any who complete the evaluation.

Andrew didn't know that number. But he assumed it was a mass text. It looked like a mass text. It had the words extra pay. He was in. He needed to replace things. It also was down at the Golem labs. If he was lucky he might be able to punt Butane out somewhere else for a while. If not, well, it was fun test driving those things anyways. Not dying was always nice. Except for the rumors of people who had died. He did his best not to think of those. So he showed up on time, expecting there to be a few others hanging around already.

There were, almost eerily, no others nearby. The Golem Lab was empty, and yet the lights were all on and the door was wide open. All of the machines within hummed with life, including those that held the bodies when a Hunter conscious was transferred from their body, to that of the Golem. And on the side, the door to the training arena was also open. He was free to go in there as well, but there was no one there and the simulations were off. All that there was, was a single open capsule. And a computer screen, flickering invitingly, nearby. Should Andrew decide to sit at the terminal and look at the computer screen, he would read what looked like instructions. They were simple. It directed him to enter the capsule, and he would re-emerge in a golem that was already in the training arena. The test stated it was programmed in for an hour, and he simply needed to survive. That was it. Just - survive. There were warnings, in fine print, as there always are on such Deus tests: loss of limb, loss of life, loss of sanity, loss of bowel functions, the list went on and on, but actual side effects were few and far between in tests like these, and the Hunters had gotten into these Golems many times successfully in the past. Right? There was nothing to worry about.

Oh this wasn't suspicious at all. Andrew glanced around finding no one else there. Look he was not getting into one of those without someone there to pull his a** out when needed. "Hello?" he wondered into the training area, only to find everything off. It was early but not that early... Clearly someone had already been here at some point. But there was no one? No directions? well the computer had directions. He read them over, squinting. But there was still no one else here. That's just... nope too suspicious. Andrew pulled up his phone and looked at the message again. No further directions revealed themselves. nio love he's a suspicious little s**t, sorry. shoot him a text or something

Text to: Andrew Golem Labs will be closing in exactly one hour. Last minute evaluations must begin now or forfeit the extra pay for their work.

Extra pay.... Well it looked like someone was actually on the other end somewhere. The question was where? He frowned. I need shinies! You are broke. Get money, get shinies. Ugh. He glanced at the pod. It was still weird that there was no one else here but... He sat in the pod. alright. Andrew sat down and let the pod do it's thing. He wondered what the heck the golem was.

The pod closed with a hiss, leaving him in darkness. Within seconds, it froze over, taking Andrew with it - and the machine did its job, transferring his consciousness over to one of the golems waiting in the training arena. This, too, was empty. And the golem, for all this talk of testing it, seemed surprisingly bland. There was nothing of particular interest, though it was larger than usual, and its skin felt much stronger if touched. But there was nothing for him to do - and no one to tell him what to do, now that he was in his golem. Yet.

... ok this was a waste of time. He as feeling pretty tricked. He didn't know how or what but nothing had felt right since the beginning. And now he was stuck out of his own body. He tugged at the Golem body testing it. It felt... well normal for a Golem. But not like testing material. "Never trust a lifer." he muttered to himself. oh well the program should wear off in an hour.

The door to the arena closed, and the locking mechanism slid home with a thud. All the lights in the arena slowly began to turn off, one by one by one. When it was dark, and the only light was from glinting machinery that flickered behind shatterproof glass, there was a robotic sounding voice that informed him of what was happening. "The Golem Lab is now closed for the night." Whoops.

When does the training start?"We've been tricked." Andrew scowled to himself. Great he was stuck. Someone would come let him out eventually. Maybe. Unless he died in the pod from over exposure first. That might actually be a thing. He paced around a while, looking for a way out and then sat down bored out of his skull. What a sucky way to probably die. Not that he was mad, he probably deserved it. It was just possibly one of the most annoying ways to go. And whoever found him would just think he was an idiot. You aren't even trying!"There's nothing to try. These things aren't capable of taking much damage." he shrugged and dropped back, wondering if he could manage to nap in a golem. No time to try like the present.

Surprise! Napping was actually possible in a golem! Surprise! Riley was prepared for that! A very low buzzing sound began to fill the air. Like insects had infiltrated the room, and were flying around. They could have been dealt with.. if it wasn't so dark.

Andrew heard them. His internal alarms were screaming at him. As was his weapon. I sense something! "Just bugs." It wasn't anything to be concerned about yet. It did tell him that someone had defiantly tricked him and was messing with him now. "This prank is pretty boring to be honest."

The prank was meant to be boring, so his commentary did not prove it to be a failure. The only thing that would actually attack Andrew that night was his own boredom. The insects, as annoying as they were, were only there to keep him from getting any good sleep. And, perhaps, to add just a touch of anxiety to the situation. Despite his realization, said 'prank' did not seem to suddenly end. The quiet droned on, broken by sudden buzzing as the (???) moved about the dark room in sporatic movements.

Andrew didn't move. He refused to play into it. He knew for a fact that the whole point of golems was so they didn't get hurt themselves. He could onl hope that was actually true. But he had a feeling he wasn't getting paid for this and that upset him more than the bugs. He kept his eyes closed but listened for anything that might get too close to him.
