[ JOB LISTING ] Loan shark

[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star

[ TASK ] It's time to call in some loans - aka the bank's most formidable and infamous task, what they're best known for. Luna - or rather, Luna's assistants - have scheduled you some interviews with people who are behind on their loan payments.

[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d100 and see how well you've fared. You may have two clients a day.

  • 01 - 15 - The person you've been instructed to speak to is a young teenager who keeps crying everywhere. It's a little flustering to try and talk when someone is sobbing on your shoulder...needless to say. Luna simply hands you a tissue to figure things out, and you have snot on your shoulder. ( fail )

  • 16 - 30 - A set of triplets has arrived to claim their reasoning for being behind on their small business loan. All of them are quite cheerful, but sometimes too much talking gets confusing; fortunately, you can sort through all of their yammering in order to get them to pay a portion back. Luna is satisfied. ( pass )

  • 31 - 45 - Your patron looks so much like someone you know that it throws you off your game for a few seconds. Luna seems to think this is quite normal; maybe it's just one of those weird doppleganger coincidences. Either way, you're comfortable speaking with them. ( pass )

  • 46 - 60 - You spend the appointment reminiscing with an elderly patron who just seemed to want to talk. Luna, although still quiet, seems strangely satisfied with this outcome and gives you one of their rare nods of approval by the end. ( pass )

  • 61 - 75 - You flirt your way to getting a payment with your patron. Or, if you're not good at flirting, you're good at persuading somehow. They flirt back, but alas, it's not meant to be. Still, they're good natured about it, and so are you (hopefully). ( fail )

  • 76 - 90 - Your patron has a puppy that you get completely distracted by - whether in a good way or a bad way, regardless, you completely forget your original goal.( fail )

  • 91 - 100 - You meet with a high profile client who is as smooth as a shark and as cool as a cucumber. Nothing you say and do can ruffle them, but in spite of this, Luna is satisfied when you managed to skillfully get them to repay a portion of their owed money. ( pass )

Zere was sitting at the desk for his usual daily job, tilting his head down as an elderly client came in. He blinked slowly as the grandmother walked slowly to the counter, sitting down and making herself comfortable as she took out a yarn ball and began to knit in front of him.

Stunned, Zere watched in silence as she began to speak.

"You know, you remind me of my grandchildren. Not just one, but a few of them mixed together. I'm sure you're a nice young man, but I don't know why you're in a place like this. You don't seem happy." Reaching forward, she patted his shoulder in a comforting manner.

"I'm always depressed. It doesn't matter where I am." Zere leaned on his hand, staring at the woman. Was it really that obvious?

"Mmm." She replied with sadness, nodding her head in understanding. "I see. But there are things that can make you happy, yes?"

"Sometimes," Zere admitted.

"Ah." She smiled, halfway through her knitting -- she was fast. He was stunned that she could work so fast, and what she seemed to be making looked like a... scarf?

"Just keep doing those things, and don't let it win, young man. You're stronger than you think." Zere nodded again, frowning and rubbing his chin. He _did_ like doing some things, but everything else just seemed to weigh him down, no matter what it was.

Maybe if he'd had his brother...

"Well. I just came to chatter, because everyone here is so lovely." Her face crinkled as she smiled.

"Wait--" Zere spoke, standing up. "Don't you have a loan?"

"No, dearie. I just come to chat and make things for you children, because even though this is a poor place to work, all of you need some kind of pick me up. Here." Finishing the scarf in record speed, she threw it over his neck and patted his shoulder again before making her way out the door.

Stunned, he reached up and felt the scarf, staring after her, appreciating the gift she'd just given him.

"... thanks," He whispered, but she was long gone.

DIVISION: Mist
META JOURNAL
ARCANA: Reflection
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER: Etzer is tall and well dressed, with long black hair usually tied up in some sort of ponytail. He is unusually tired all the time, and often found chewing on a food item of some sort, as well as carrying around a "Choose Your Own Adventure" book with some kind of terrible title. Who reads this rubbish?

His main weapon is a rather sizeable black whip.
