Physical Description: Much like his 'brother', Migel has olive skin and golden brown eyes. He has dark brown hair, seeming almost black at times, that is short and curly. Though fairly similar in appearance, they couldn't be further apart in mien. Where Cesare is fire, Migel is like ice. Every expression or action appears to be in cool control.
Personality: Raised by good and honest people, Migel was once a good and honest child himself. The sacrifice he made for his friend, he probably would have made for anyone, knowing that to give them up to die would be wrong. But after his parents died, Cesare became his purpose in life. In many ways, Cesare is his moral compass. If his friend wishes it, in his mind, it is right. He is not entirely without his own agency.. If hired by someone else, he will make up his own mind on whether to agree. But he will take Cesare's word above all others, as the highest moral authority. He's a 'means to an end' kind of person. He believes in his friend's goals, and doesn't mind breaking a few eggs (or bones) to achieve them. He would die for him. And, if asked, would kill for him as well.
Master shapeshifter, Migel can be a dozen different things to a dozen different people, and sometimes a dozen to the same person as well. He is his friend's 'brother', his bodyguard, and his adviser. He is at times the Lord Holder's son, at times his employee. He is a master of slipping between roles seamlessly. He isn't offended by the shifting favor of those around him. He is a difficult person to place when being himself. He doesn't show any strong feelings or desires, except perhaps the desire to protect his friend, but even that he tries to keep hidden.
Day to day he tends to project the persona of so many minor nobles; hot-blooded, prideful yet pandering, chivalrous, well-mannered, but ultimately careless and rash. However, this is merely a simple and convenient mask that allows him to continue his real work behind the scenes. At any given moment, he is likely constructing a dozen different scenarios of how someone might kill him, kill Cesare, or kill him then Cesare, and how he might prevent that. He is on pretty much all the time, never really feeling like he can fully take off or disconnect, given his responsibilities.
Given every lesson in etiquette and rhetoric that a Holder would be expected to get, Migel can conduct himself in social situation with grace and ease. That doesn't change the fact that, if it were up to he, he'd really rather not. He tends to spend his free time either alone, or with one other person. Within crowds, he's always planning, calculating, alone he can be a little more relaxed. He's not as eloquent or diplomatic as his friend, but he has a sharp wit and sharper tongue if he cares to use it. He enjoys verbal sparring, particularly with his friend.

History: Migel was born to humble beginnings, the son of two farmers living just outside a small mining hold. He met Cesare when he was very young. The Holder’s son liked to sneak outside the walls and once saw him when he was playing in the woods. The two became fast friends, as young children often do, though he had no idea this boy was the son of his Lord Holder. Still, before long, he was a familiar sight at their small farmstead. Always welcome at their table, though his parents did wonder where he came from.
It wasn't until armed men showed up at their door, demanding they give up the 'little Holder', that they realized who he was. In a bid to seize power, Cesare's uncle had sent bandits out to kidnap the boy after being told that he was often seen outside the Hold. Hoping to protect his friend, Migel claimed that he was Cesare, though Cesare insisted otherwise. With only a vague description of the child, they couldn't be certain who was telling the truth. And though they put their blades to Migel's parents and demanded they reveal the truth, both refused, and were killed, one after the other. However, it was these actions that saved their son's life, as the bandits were forced to take both boys until they could settle which was worth the ransom. In the meantime, the Holder had sent out search parties looking for his son. Working together, the two boys were able to slow down the bandits long enough for the Holder's men to arrive.
Genuinely upset that the farmers had died defending his son, the Holder made a rare show of kindness, and took Migel in, raising him like one of his own children. In addition to genuinely feeling bad, and wanting to make his son happy, the events of the kidnapping also opened his eyes to the potential benefit of having an agemate around who vaguely resembled him, one that was loyal to his son and eager to protect him.
From then, the two were nearly inseparable. Doing everything from studying to sparring to eating together. Migel had a lot of pressure put on him as a child. The Holder would tolerate no one dragging down his son. But (with Cesare’s help) he was able to catch up to where the others were in schooling and soon proved himself to be a worthy companion. He might not be as smart as Cesare, but he never shied from challenging him, whether in games or lessons or debates. On the other hand, Migel far excelled him at swordplay, and other things of a physical nature, and soon the Holder saw a chance to enact the next part of his plan.
The kidnap attempt on Cesare was not the only of its kind. The Lord Holder was ambitious and made a fair few enemies in his quest for power. Cesare and his other children were constant targets. It wasn't at all hard to convince Migel to begin training with the captain of his guard on how he might learn to protect them. When Cesare went to the Courtesan Hall, Migel went with him. Outwardly, to attend classes in diplomacy as his companion, as he always had. But in reality, he was there to study assassination and spycraft. And, of course, to continue in his role as Cesare’s bodyguard. He studied methods of killing so he would be better prepared to prevent them, and learned to deal in whispers and intrigue.
After graduating, they were on their way to a near by hold, ostensibly to attend a runner race there (really to broker a secret deal for land rights in the region), when they were approached by a dragon rider. Of course, Migel was utterly against the idea of Cesare going to the Weyr alone. But, as luck would have it, the rider said that in fact both were suitable as candidates. Migel was torn. On the one hand, it would hamper their movements somewhat, but on the other it was chance to bring honor and renown to the Holder and his family, who would no doubt love to brag about having two sons (Migel was always his 'adopted son' whenever he did something praiseworthy) that were serving Pern against the scourge of thread. Of course, if Cesare was for it, then he could go no where else, and so the two returned to the Weyr together.
At the Weyr, he continues to act as Cesare's bodyguard, though it secret, made easier by the fact that candidates spend so much time together. Migel is anxious about them impressing together, not liking the idea of him being left alone, either as a candidate or a weyrling.
