The last thing Riley wanted to do at a time like this was go off base for a mission. She'd requested to be sent as minimally as possible, but requests were not but that, and eventually she was tagged to head up and investigate a base in Scotland that had recently been under siege by more than just Horsemen. The longer she stayed, the more she found out exactly what they meant.
The voices started early. She turned her head and everything changed, from an abandoned looking room to walls covered in mirrors. The mirrors had shapes in them, and when she got closer, she could see her entire ancestry lying on the field of battle. A family of hunters, a legacy that continued with her and her brother, that would inevitably end with - that.
Her father was there, face down in the mud.
Beside him, holding his hand, was her mutilated body.
She turned away, trying to scour the sight of it from her mind. She was used to mind tricks. This was no different.

The voices finally get to her. They tell her an enemy is coming, and Andeon is summoned into her hands instantly. He tries to tell her to wait, to stop, to think -

But it's too late. She's already attacked what she clearly thinks is a horseman, sending it flying down to the ground as Andeon's whips wrapped around his legs and tripped him off his feet.

Another hit, and the horseman is down. She nears it to finish it off and force it to dissipate, when she finally realizes - the unconscious man at her feet is one of her own, a Hunter come to check on her.
She desummons Andeon, and leans down to check his vitals. With a few quick patch ups, and a great deal of guilt, Riley activates the Hunters pendant.
So much for not letting the voices get to her head.

Around her, the room turns to mirrors again. It plays the same images, over and over; her family, her father, her grandparents, all of them lying dead on the ground with pieces of her beside them.
She gets it. Her fate will be the same. She doesn't need some sick twisted room ******** to remind her of that.
She sits down in the room, lets her eyes unfocus until she can't see what's in the mirrors anymore, and rides out the rest of her shift in near blindness.
