[ JOB LISTING ] Loan shark

[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star

[ TASK ] It's time to call in some loans - aka the bank's most formidable and infamous task, what they're best known for. Luna - or rather, Luna's assistants - have scheduled you some interviews with people who are behind on their loan payments.

[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d100 and see how well you've fared. You may have two clients a day.

  • 01 - 15 - The person you've been instructed to speak to is a young teenager who keeps crying everywhere. It's a little flustering to try and talk when someone is sobbing on your shoulder...needless to say. Luna simply hands you a tissue to figure things out, and you have snot on your shoulder. ( fail )

  • 16 - 30 - A set of triplets has arrived to claim their reasoning for being behind on their small business loan. All of them are quite cheerful, but sometimes too much talking gets confusing; fortunately, you can sort through all of their yammering in order to get them to pay a portion back. Luna is satisfied. ( pass )

  • 31 - 45 - Your patron looks so much like someone you know that it throws you off your game for a few seconds. Luna seems to think this is quite normal; maybe it's just one of those weird doppleganger coincidences. Either way, you're comfortable speaking with them. ( pass )

  • 46 - 60 - You spend the appointment reminiscing with an elderly patron who just seemed to want to talk. Luna, although still quiet, seems strangely satisfied with this outcome and gives you one of their rare nods of approval by the end. ( pass )

  • 61 - 75 - You flirt your way to getting a payment with your patron. Or, if you're not good at flirting, you're good at persuading somehow. They flirt back, but alas, it's not meant to be. Still, they're good natured about it, and so are you (hopefully). ( fail )

  • 76 - 90 - Your patron has a puppy that you get completely distracted by - whether in a good way or a bad way, regardless, you completely forget your original goal.( fail )

  • 91 - 100 - You meet with a high profile client who is as smooth as a shark and as cool as a cucumber. Nothing you say and do can ruffle them, but in spite of this, Luna is satisfied when you managed to skillfully get them to repay a portion of their owed money. ( pass )

Pedro thought himself to be a personable Hunter, or hell, a personal person, although sometimes he wondered whether he truly was one if only he considered himself personable. Did that mean he didn't count because whether you were personable was something for other people to decide? The Mist Hunter sometimes had these existential crises but he figured it was beyond his knowledge and he should probably focus on his job.

It was always odd for him to disguise himself and somewhat difficult to maintain the disguise especially if his supposed identity was nothing like he believed himself to be. In this case, he was supposed to be someone capable of convincing clients to pay their loans. As a bleeding heart, it was a Herculean task for Pedro to be strict and stern and not always fall for every single sob story that was thrown his way.

Of course, sometimes, he wasn't given a sob story. And those should have been easier to deal with but Pedro often found that this was not the case. The client he was supposed to talk to was one of the high profile clients, which naturally put Pedro on edge. Because why? Why would you get someone like Pedro to try and convince a cool customer of paying their debt? It wasn't like Pedro could play the role of supplicant and he knew there was little chance for intimidation to work.

He simply resorted to taking an interest in the client, treating them not as some important high profile individual but someone fascinating that he wanted to learn more about. Somehow during the conversation, the client agreed to pay a portion of their debt.
