This past week had been horrible. Everything was shut down still, and he had been cleaning mud and water out of his room for weeks. Worst, he lost practically everything. And that really ticked him off. He would have to start over from scratch. He was on his way down to well, likely more cleaning. But food if he could avoid the task master. He tensed, ready to flee when he heard someone else coming.

Cleaning up the mess that was once her room post-hurricane had been a particularly aggravating task. The lack of alternate clothing options besides the one outfit she was already wearing was perhaps the most frustrating. Still, Nia managed to hold her back straight and tall as she went about her day to day business, determined not to let this mishap visibly show how it effected her.
She had been heading down the hallway, looking for something to aid her in de-watering what few salvageable items she owned when she caught sight of someone up ahead, who appeared to tense and therefore became a target of interest.
"What's got your hair prickling like a cat?"

Andrew jumped, whipping around only to find, definitely not a superior. He relaxed. "Cat? You know we don't have cats here, unless you count the minis." he laughed at his own dumb joke. "Looks like you are still in cleaning hell." he glanced at her things.

Nia looked unimpressed as he laughed at what she considered to be a subpar joke. "You look like you're avoiding something."
Shoulders shrugged and she took a moment to look him over. "Had a few things worth saving, working on keeping them that way."

Andrew nodded. he understood. He had a few things that he could save, and save he did. Didn't make the work any less boring though. "Just trying not to get called into more cleaning. I think my fingernails are about to fall off." He glanced at her things. "You might as well save what you can. Makes it easier to start over."

Cleaning was a menial task, certainly, and Nia would have rather executed her skills in other manners, but dirty work had to be done all the same. Sooner or later, they'd be done and could focus just on regular duties instead.
"It's merely a lesson learned, keep less stuff then less gets ruined." Shoulders shrugged, even though she sounded a tad bit displeased about the fact she needed to start over. It wasn't worth fixating upon, for now.
"Waterlog hasn't been kind to the hands." Her own ended up more wrinkly and pruny than she would have liked. "A break here and there is deserved."

Andrew frowned at that thought. Less stuff? that was easy to say if things were steady but he was a hoarder, for what he had. "I hate having my hands wet to begin with." he would prefer starting over entirely in a new rat hole, but he knew the rest of the island was just as bad. This wasn't the big city. He glanced at his own hands and the damage too much cleaning had done to his nails. "I suppose less stuff is less to clean but I like to have things when I want it. Like an extra set of cloths."

She hummed, considering what his aversion, or general dislike, to water might be. "It can be rather frustrating." Having to dry them to deal with certain things was always a hassle and wet hands were the ruiner of good books.
"Not having an extra set of clothing is the one of the more frustrating things about the situation." Nia agreed. "One set only gets you so far."

"I've been scavenging up more cloths. Luckily I'm in that size range where I can make do with a wider range." ok he was small but he could steal from anyone bigger than him and that worked jut fine for him. "I suppose I'm interrupting. You should continue... as long as you don't draft me into helping."

"Lucky you," she replied dryly, glancing over the man's frame with a hum. She was on the taller side herself, even if her frame was rather wiry, so while snatching clothing from bigger built men was an option but not ideal if she didn't want to drown in it.
"It'll take time, but we'll get there." Surely there was more to salvage than they'd come up with so far. Or they could make trips. There were solutions.
"You don't seem like you'd enjoy helping and I'd rather not waste my time with the unwilling."
