[ JOB LISTING ] Floresce Care Training
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] You are told that you need to train the floresce. Train them how? you might ask? "WITH A TRAINING COURSE, OF COURSE!"

You are handed a large and probably orange Floresce. Your job is to take it to the Pet Gym in the corner of the shop. "Help it become the GREATEST fForesce it can be!!" The Floresce flails in your arms, it's great eyes not betraying it's thoughts as you carry it to the workout space.

The training is actually pretty simple! The fish know what to do!! (This seems to be a very common activity around here.)

This is a Three-Part Job. Step one is NAMING, Step two is TRAINING, Step three is TOURNEY!!

Follow each step below.

STEP 1: NAMING: NAME YOUR FLORESCE. This is very, very, very important. Please bold your fish's name in your first post.

STEP 2: TRAINING:Roll 2 d6. The first dice is the training method you'll be using, and the second dice is the fish's effort! (So if I roll a 1, 4 - I go to Workout Station 1, and my Floresce gave an Effort of GREAT!)

  1. Workout Station 1: The Uphill Treadmill
It's one of those treadmills that simulates walking up a hill. Put the floresce on it, and turn it on. Watch as the floresce flops and flails it's way along the belt! More than once while the floresce is flailing along Allen stops by to tell you, "TURN IT UP! Faster! Stronger! Harder!"

When the floresce grows tired, turn off the machine and give it some tasty Floresce Food!

  2. Workout Station 2: The Punching Bag
There is a great big leather punching bag. It looks pretty worn out. Simply stand back and let the floresce tackle the heck out of the thing!

Allen stops by to check on you. "Encourage it more! *PET NAME HERE*! Come on! One, two! One, two!" He throws a few punches of his own as demonstration before running off to help someone else.

  3. Workout Station 3: The Jump Rope
This is a workout for both YOU AND THE FLORESCE. YOU GET TO JUMP ROPE TOGETHER. It's fun. It's healthy. Please spend a lot of time jumping rope together!!! LIKE THIS!

"Good Job!" Allen says when he stops by. "Keep going until you hit 100 jumps!" If you are being sluggish about it - he'll gladly show you how it's done.

  4. Workout Station 4: The High Jump
A thin red-and-white bar is held aloft by two posts. On the opposite side is a cushion, and the near side nothing but a small platform. The Floresce simply jumps - and you raise the bar higher and higher until it can't jump over it anymore.
    ...
    ..
    ...
    ..
    ...
    ..
    ...
    OH NOOOOOO. In the middle of a jump - an escaped bird came by and STOLE YOUR FLORESCE. Goodbye fish!! ;-;

Allen pats you on the back. "We always remember the Fallen Floresce in our hearts." He is quiet for a moment, his gaze distant as if remembering old friends long since passed from this world. Then his very determined eyes look back at you. "Get a new Floresce. Start over! Never give up!" He leaves you with a hearty pat on the shoulder.

--Go back to Step One with a new Floresce

  5. Workout Station 5: The Boulder Push
Yes, that IS a giant boulder. Yes, the Floresce is going to flail itself at it to see how far it can move the boulder. You don't think it's going to move very much, no matter how much effort your Floresce puts into it.

Allan will stop by to show it how it's done. "Like this! Hi-ya!" His kick to the boulder will certainly crack it.

  6. Workout Station 6: Mental Training
A strong mind is just as important as a strong body! Take your floresce to the meditation corner and sit down with them. Get comfortable, close your eyes, and breathe in and breathe out. Breath in.... breathe out... Let your mind clear itself.... With each breath, tell yourself that YOU are the strongest. You and your fish ARE the strongest team..... When you are ready, simply let yourself come back to the here and now. You feel refreshed.
Your Floresce flops quietly next to you the whole time. It has no eyelids to close.

When you move to get up from your meditation, you realize Allen has been sitting next to you for.. you don't know how long. "Feeling stronger yet?" The grin on his face make you worry he's about to challenge you to something.

--Now that training is over it's time to look at your floresce's EFFORT:
**Effort Roll (second dice):**
1, 2, 3 = Good Effort. +10 to your Tourney Roll
4, 5 = Great Effort! +20 to your Tourney Roll
6 = AMAZING Effort!! +30 to your Tourney Roll

STEP 3: TOURNEY
The whole point of training is to prepare your Floresce for the JUMPING CHAMPIONSHIPS!! Now that you've successfully completed some training, it's time to test your mettle against Allen and his Very Strong Floresce!!
"Are you ready?" Allen asks. His face is nothing short of determined. "My Fish and I will pour our heart into this match. I expect you to, as well." The friendly pat on your back nearly sense you flying. "Let's go," he says, leading you to the Jumping Ground.

Roll 2 d100. The first die is how high YOUR fish jumped, the second is how his ALLEN'S fish jumped. Whoever Jumped the Highest is the WINNER!! (Remember to add your fish's EFFORT to your roll!)
(Example: I roll 21, 33. My fish had Great effort for +20 -- so the final score is My fish 21+20 = 41 vs. Allen's fish 33. I win!)

If you DEFEAT ALLEN - He seems pretty impressed but it looks like him and his Floresce are planning to work harder. He gives you a cheerleading fish of a random colour as a prize. Wait... there feels something off about it...

If you LOSE - Allan congratulates you, and hands you your Floresce, and you move on your way. He seems pretty happy he won.

Walking up slowly to the fish stand, Zere glanced over the entirety of the stall, lips pressing together for a low whistle.

He liked fish. And besides that, this sounded super interesting. Training a fish?

Yeah, Zere could get on board with this.

Picking up a fish and patting its side, Zere smiled wide as he traced over his scales lightly, making the fish flop. Apparently it was one who liked being tickled?

"Imma call you Fishfish. 'cuz that's what you are."

Very original, Zere.

Who reads this rubbish?

His main weapon is a rather sizeable black whip.

The aim was to make his fish jump.

Zere maneuvered a bar for Fishfish to jump over, smiling wide as he kept jumping higher and higher --

Only to have his face fall when it was snatched out of the air by a bird who'd been looking for its next meal.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! FISHFISH!!!" Zere cried, reaching up into the air and trying to grab his newly found friend.

He collapsed to his knees on the ground, head hanging as depression overcame him.

Even a pat on the back didn't help.

rolled wrong dice, pls ignore

Saying goodbye to Fishfish was hard -- especially when it was carried off by a bird of prey.

Life was hard.

He'd put so much hope into Fishfish and he was so proud to finally have something to work towards... and it was all taken away in a flash, because of a fish that had too big of dreams, and had jumped too high.

It was almost like Icarus, with the sun.

Dragging himself over to the fish pond again, Zere sat in front of it and wiped his face, having cried a little bit. His poor little Fishfish...

He managed to grab a rod and fish up a new fish, tracing over its scales sadly, hoping that this one wouldn't end up like the last.

Of course, this one was quite a bit smaller, and had the same pattern as a calico kitten - it just wasn't quite as furry as one.

"... I'll name you Kitten," He stated, still depressed over Fishfish.

Walking over and around the area, Zere tried to find something safe for Kitten to do, and he found a rather large boulder that Kitten could move if they gave enough effort.

"Okay, Kitten," Zere spoke quietly. "Can you move that boulder for me?"

In response, Kitten flopped over eagerly and flopped against it until it actually moved a few inches.

Zere was surprised, but hope started to shine in his eyes.

Would Kitten actually have a chance?

Moving Kitten to the platform where they were to jump, Zere held his breath, whispering, "C'mon Kitten... jump, but not too high--"

And his fish jumped far higher than the other one did, beating it by yards.

Worry made Zere furrow his eyebrows as he watched Kitten carefully... and they came down without incident, much to his relief.

He was still depressed over Fishfish, but he was glad Kitten had won.

Gathering up his fish, he held onto it tightly intending to take it home, along with his prizes.
