Today was exciting and new, Dio had decided. Father promised to teach her something completely different from the usual. When she asked for clarification, he'd simply smile and remind her to have patience and the only hint she'd receive is that he had learned it from another famine.
Vin, in fact.
All through breakfast she fidgeted and simply would not sit still for anything. He was almost relieved when the meal had ended and it was finally time to take her - giving Noah a good chunk of the morning off.
He kissed Noah and reminded him that they would be back in time for lunch, but not to expect them back any sooner. A reminder to take it easy, more or less.
Cor picked the frail little girl up and situated her across his shoulders before walking out the front door. It took a while to get where they needed to be and Cor grabbed a brightly colored plastic box and a big floppy hat from one of the famine lab storage boxes and picked up a pole that had been left leaning against an adjacent table.
He figured fish hunting seemed safe enough and Dio was his lucky charm. Perhaps this time a large one would trap itself on their hook in no time.
He smooshed the big floppy hat on top of the girl's head and she giggled with delight while tugging down the corners with her tiny hands. This was already very interesting indeed and she hoped to learn all about these strange items in the near future.
Cor hoped to learn more about her while teaching her to fish hunt the human way.
