[ JOB LISTING ] Funds processor

[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star

[ TASK ] Crane would like you to take over for a sick employee in order to gauge your skills and also because time is money and a missing employee means missing possible money. It's time to do a little processing in order to prove your worth.

[ MECHANICS ] Roll 3d6 and match your results below. You may only take on two clients a day (two rolls).

  • Two matching numbers - You did all right. Not terribly, not fantastically, but you managed to at least get several things processed - and on time, to boot. There was a troublesome customer [ please rp this out ], but you managed to do well! ( pass )

  • All three matching numbers (except 6,6,6) - You did AMAZING. Crane is so impressed with your work that he decides to give you a pre-holiday bonus. He watches as you skillfully handle irate customers and confused patrons, especially one customer in particular who seems not to understand how banks work... [ please rp this out ] ( pass )

  • All three random numbers - You're average. Unremarkable. Dull. Crane seems very disappointed; he watches as you sluggishly move from patron to patron, but he leaves before your shift is over - which only settles in his lack of interest in you, even if you did manage to process a customer who likes to scream [ please rp this out ]. ( fail )

  • Sequential numbers (does not have to be directly in order - i.e. 2,3,1 is fine) - You're nothing spectacular, but Crane still seems to find you interesting, and perhaps a little amusing. He's observing your progress, and while you start off rocky when dealing with a customer who thinks money comes before breakfast [ please rp this out ], by the end of your temporary shift, you've got a knack for things. ( pass )

  • 6, 6, 6 - You do so badly that Crane seems on the verge of throwing you out. He's not angry, per say, but he's wearing an expression that shows he is extremely displeased - and this coming from a man who does not like to be displeased. ( fail )

One last try, and he was doing it -- more or less -- to spite them. He put on a costume, first; tied his hair back, put it under a hat, tried to disguise who he was, and whether or not it worked, he managed to steal one more chance at working in the bank. Not as a teller this time: that had failed spectacularly, and there was no chance in hell he was going to revisit that atrocity. Instead he picked something that sounded interesting: Funs Processor.

Except, of course, that it was funds. And, again, it involved putting information into a machine, which was not something at all in his skillset. After about twenty minutes of chewing on his lower lip uncertainly, facing a blank screen, the customer he was supposed to be helping finally blew up.

"What are you, an idiot?" The man's voice was deep and furious, but fortunately, didn't carry too far. He drew in a gusty breath so that he could get more out this time: "I'm a major earner here, do you know how much cash I have in this bank? And then they give me some a*****e new face who can't even take the time to haul his glasses off, and -- "

There was more, of course. But fortunately, someone was nearby enough to help, and Ever turned a mournful expression in her direction as she looked over at him. Apparently, he was pitiful enough that, after a nervous glance around to make sure she wasn't about to get in trouble, she stepped in to walk him through the process.

And another one.

By the end of the day, really, she'd done all the work. But he was smiling and chatting her up easily, thoughtlessly, in a way that probably took some of the sting out of it.
