Cor placed a large hand on Dio's shoulder and held firmly while shifting in his seat to face her. The look on his face dead serious as he stared at her. She nervously stared back. All she could feel in that moment was a sinking sort of dread. Had her answer in some way, some how, been wrong?
Cor suddenly burst out in loud raucous laughter. He laughed so hard that his hand on her shoulder was pushing her this way and that way and she couldn't help but start laughing too. Cor was always a bit weird about his feelings, sometimes reading one way but feeling something else entirely. This was one of those moments and as his laughter slowed and then finally subsided, he looked at her, this time a lot more fondly.
"You are a lot more like your fathers than you think, little one," Cor said while gently wiping a tear from his eye. It was true. It was almost like looking in a mirror - a small, angry, mirror. She huffed and crossed her arms, not actually offended as she shouted, "Are not!" Inside, she actually felt so much acceptance in that statement. It meant what she felt hadn't been wrong, maybe even understandable, and that it somehow made her more part of this family... but it still did not go away.
"Young lady," Cor added, the humor from just seconds ago had drained from his tone completely. "We do not throw things at others." Then the humor was back again, "Not unless we are hunting them and intend to eat them afterwards."
She snorted loudly.
