In the stillness of the night, Cor set up in a carefully organized room just off the dining room. Unlike most of the rooms, this one was not tunnel-like in nature. It was Cor's, a room meant just for him. He eyed the various tubs of materials and slid one open that was labeled "thread" and removed a spool of stiff brown thread with a needle jutting out the top. He sat it on the desk that faced out towards the door so he may still watch the rest of the family, had they been up and about yet.
He had something special in mind tonight and did not need the prying eyes of others.
He unrolled a pelt of short slick sable-brown fur that had already been cut with a pattern and laid it out on the desk too. He grabbed a fistful of soft feathery down from a nearby bag and began, stitch by stitch, forming the fur around it until it bore a shape similar to that of some sort of dog.
He returned to the baskets, and fished out a long bushy squirrel-like tail from one labeled "tails" and withdrew two larger red glass beads from one labeled "eyes". He stitched these to the fur and took a pair of scissors and snipped and tucked and added a few more supportive stitches for a more defined shape, particularly of the head. A few more stitches and the plush soon had a nose and then a mouth. Then the limbs were given toes at their ends and finally the tail attached, creating a strange mangy wolf-like creation.
