[ TASK ]
As one of our clever ponies at the tech Stable, your job is to fix customer's technology and troubleshoot it while making as much money as possible, making sure to fit and maintain our monitoring implants and software in the process.

[ MECHANICS ]
Roll 1d6 twice, each roll is half the day.

  1. - The hardware you are brought is a complete mess, it's screen is cracked in a way you can't replace, it simply won't boot correctly or it has been in some sort of terrible sticky accident. All you can do is commemorate its memory and send the customer over to your colleague on the shop floor, losing your commission in the process.
  2. - The fix is easy, the customer isn't very tech savvy and had simply tripped a background setting without meaning to, you can fix it in five minutes but those five minutes cost them dearly.
  3. - Somehow this customer has managed to break the monitoring process on their device, taking them off of the collective data grid, this has in essence bricked their tech, they bring it to you, you easily reinstall the spyware and they are on their way.
  4. - Some piece of hardware needs replaced, it is easily done but you tell them it will take 24 hours and charge them incredible prices for the part they need.
  5. - The customer wants nothing more than to talk to you about the store, the products, the CEO and everything else and none of your social hints to go away seem to work on them, delaying you in your work for half the morning
  6. - The hardware is outdated but somehow you get it running again, Tyr stops by and offers the customer a discount on an upgrade to a more modern product which they take and end up spending a great deal more than they meant to that day on in-store financing.

After the repeated disaster Chao had as a Software Developer, Which mostly involved deleting the main directory after attempting to upload a file, she got shuffled over the Customer support. Tech support did not want her anywhere near their database again.

Luckily Customer Service came with a handy guide book that took her step by step through the process on how to fix almost everything. She blinked in surprise when her first customer came in and dropped a large box on their desk, turns out the box as an ancient laptop. It wasn't booting properly anymore. Looking though the handbook Chao spent a couple hours going over the old laptop before she managed to fix the error and get it up and running again.

Tyr happened to walk by as the customer picked up his old a** laptop and the boss managed to convince the guy to spend a lot of money on an upgrade by giving them a discount.

Chao stared at the customer who just arrived at her desk. The laptop this guy had put onto her desk was a complete mess. The screen was shatter, the case was shattered, and it appeared burnt?? She was wondering what the ******** happened to this thing. "What happened?" She asked.

'Well' the customer begins. 'one of your competitors made a laptop you can drop from the ceiling and still be fine and has survived fires and booted up so I decided to see if your stuff was just a good. Its not." He sounded disappointed at the end.

"You dropped it from the ceiling?" She repeated in confusion.

'Well from the roof actually." He responded "landed on the drive way and busted up.

"Did the ceiling people drops theirs on a drive way?

"Well no, it landed on a carpet." He explained. Chao stared at him as he continued "I mean it was busted up but it kind of worked, but it didn't survive the oven."

"WHY THE ******** WOULD YOU PUT A LAPTOP IN THE OVEN." She screamed. While a Horseman computer probably would have survived, human computers where not like the ones made for horseman and did not belong in an oven.

"there have been several accounts of your competitors computers surviving fires." He explained shrinking under the heat of Chao's stare.

"And where the competitors computers busted open when they where in a fire?" She asked.

"Probably no." It was easy to tell the man felt like a small child at this point.

"Then I don't see how it is possible to compare the two when our laptop's internal components where exposed and theirs was not. Have you even tested their computers or are you just going off of rumors."

"I i haven't seen it my self but..." He trailed off awkwardly realizing that maybe she was right and he had been very very stupid.

"Unfortunately this laptop cannot be saved, perhaps if you brought it in before shoving it into the oven it might have survived. Why don't you head over there and go by a new computer?"

Sheepishly the customer slunk off to get a new computer while Chao clocked out and went home to scream into her pillow about how stupid humans are.
