Once the foal's room was picked clean of all her toys, Cor was able to relax and wandered over to her side where he sat down and crossed his legs. He watched her sleep for a while. Intently observing each little breath she made. In and out, in and out. No raspiness to indicate she was becoming unwell. Just silent draws to indicate she was still alive and well and as precious as ever. She was such a strong little pony and her mere presence made his heart swell with pride.
He suddenly noticed his own face had become warmer as his vision blurred. If only she could stay so innocent and small forever. She would always have him to help her and protect her and show her how to do the things she was unsure of. In no time she was going to be a beautiful horsewoman, strong and independent. Soon she wont need him any more. Soon she will have her own burrow and grubs to worry about.
He honestly wanted more little hooves running around, too, which also was tricky in itself.
He reached to take her plush and move it a little closer to her as it had started to roll from her grasp, the small one squirming instinctively to wrap her little arms around the plush with a soft sigh and a roll away from him. He propped his head up on his palm and watched her a little longer.
He had to remind himself she wasn't so peaceful when awake. The little hellion.
