When Yildirim -- Ignatius -- was upset, the first thing he tended to do was look for other people.
It didn't strike him to think that Aran -- or whoever he was -- might have not also been not-a-horseman like he was. It also didn't strike him that maybe he was not-a-horseman, but also-maybe-something-else-not-a-student. Instead, the first thing he did when he got himself out of his mental sleepy fog was grab at his phone and flick through his contacts to one of the people he was more familiar with from his time as a horseman.
Quickly, he pattered out a message.
Quote:
yo, we're not horsemen so....... now what how do we get out of this
Yildirim sent it off and looked around antsily, only to pause as he realized he heard a ding of a cell phone just a few moments after he sent the text. Blinking, he looked over his shoulder, spotting Aran immediately. Right.
He gave a nervous chuckle.
"Ah, sorry. Disoriented. I guess. You too?"

He was staring down at his hands, frustrated at the inability to feel his family's magic under his skin. He had tried a small, experimental hum--which he normally didn't require--to summon it, and nothing. He swept back the sleeve of the shirt he was wearing, only to see that there were no looping, teal marks there. His breath came a bit short, panic beginning to set in--
My name is Arrakis Dismth. My name is Arrakis Dismth. My name--
When the ding at his hip jolted him out of it and made him jerk his head up to the one standing in front of him. He heard the question asked of him, but blinked once, twice without response before quietly reaching for his phone and flicking to the message he'd just received. He looked up, then back down at the cell phone. His gaze remained here for a couple moments. Then, shaking his head as if pulling himself out of thought, he gave a nervous chuckle of his own.
His smile was tight, strained as he put his phone back on his hip and looked up. "Yeah, I guess so."

Aran--or whoever he actually was, it was so hard to tell with them being horsemen--clearly was uneasy. It was alright, so was Ignatius. He was very uneasy.
"So that's great. I guess we're horsemen, now. Alice said something about twenty-four hours, right?"
Of course, they were dreaming, or something. Dreams were weird. Ignatius wasn't exactly sure how dream time worked. How did he get out of here before he forgot that he was Ignatius and thought that he was just Yildirim of War again? Nervously, he glanced over his shoulder to look at the wings that didn't belong on his lower back.
Despite the fact they didn't belong, he still wanted to feel faster and lighter, so he pushed himself to hover in the air.
"Uh, I'm Yildirim. Like, actually. As a not-horseman. My name is Yildirim Ignatius Svarog and I'm an elemental. You?"
The thought crossed his mind to write that down, so he took out his phone again and pattered out a text once again to Aran.

Had Alice said something about time? He couldn't remember. He looked down at his arm again, the sleeve to his shirt still awkwardly pushed up on that side. The other hovering in the air caught his attention, made him jump a little. But what definitely caught his attention was the name he was given.
"Yildirim Ig--" It floored him and he stuttered out a response that, ultimately, was nonsense. The ding of the text on his phone, again, snapped him out of it. He took one deep breath, then another, trying to tell his racing heart to slow down, to stop choking the words out of his throat. A third slow inhale and long exhale, and he looked back up at Ignatius.
"Well, hey. It's Arrakis." He tried to chuckle, but was not entirely successful. The fact that there was someone else he knew here was reassuring, but it wasn't stopping the panic scratching at the back of his mind. Another deep breath and he rubbed his hands together before rubbing his arms. He wasn't cold. Looking around made him reaware of the weight of the horns on his head, and he touched them again with a small wince. It also made him aware of the tight braid his hair was in. He didn't like it. It felt restricting. Immediately, he pulled the braid over his shoulder and began to undo it. Something for his hands to do also helped focus his mind, and he visibly relaxed the more he released the braid.
Given the length and thickness and tightness of the braid, it took a moment or two before he looked up at Ignatius. He would re-braid his hair later. For right now, it lay down to his knees, especially wavy for its time in the tighter braid. "So... Any ideas?"

What was so surprising about his name? Ignatius tilted his head in curiosity as Aran seemed to stutter out and stop saying any sort of sensical words. Was that even horseman language? Maybe this guy spoke some sort of weird Halloween language back when they were not--
Oh.
"Arra!" Finding creeple that were familiar immediately relieved him, and his shoulders instantly relaxed. "Heh, glad I'm not the only one stuck as a horseman. Wish I knew where Bren was. Or Piper. Or the blonde or--" he cut himself off, scrunching his nose. Maybe they weren't stuck in this mess. That would probably be a good thing, honestly...
He admittedly looked a lot more like the Arrakis he knew without that weirdly intense braid.
Ignatius' response might be disappointing. "Uh, not really." The Not-War-Horseman rubbed his neck awkwardly, glancing around for some sort of answer like their surroundings would explain things. "I'm writing stuff down, I think of, on my phone?" That had been an idea he came up with just a few moments ago, but he'd pretend it was a great idea. He looked back at his phone and started typing the names of his friends.

Well, it wasn't that disappointing--Arrakis couldn't reasonably expect Ignatius to know something he didn't, after all. But the phone thing was indeed a fantastic idea, and Arra immediately whipped his out to open a note in its notepad.
My name is not Aran. My name is Arrakis Dismth. I am a reaper. I live in Amityville. I'm a student.
He looked up at Ignatius, then back at his phone.
Yildirim is Ignatius. I know him, and I can trust him. He paused to think. I can't remember always being a horseman because I'm NOT one. Another pause, then something occurred to him.
Don't trust Dorothy. Arrakis looked up at Ignatius. "Okay, so, we need to try and find other creeple we know." Well, that Ignatius knew. It was a start, at any rate. "Maybe they have an idea or information we don't?" Was it worth going on a wild goose chase, though? Clearly their appearances were altered, so the only way they were going to find them was to ask every horseman they saw, but...
That would probably be very dangerous. Arrakis sighed a "nevermind" and looked around, rubbing the back of his neck in an unconscious mirroring of Ignatius' body language. "I guess we could wander around to see what we can find out?"

In his notes on his phone, he made sure to add next to Arrakis' name, "Located this one. He is Aran. Conquest."
Naturally, finding his friends, if they were here, was exactly what Ignatius would like to do. There was always safety in numbers, he had found, especially when strange things happened at Amityville. Or in The Dusk. Wherever they actually were. If they could get more numbers, maybe they could get out of there.
But then Arrakis said never mind, and Ignatius was confused, for a moment, before realizing that there was likely no way he could figure out where they were unless he literally asked everyone what their name was. And he supposed he could do that, but he didn't exactly have all the time in the world. Alice sounded like she was giving them a limited window.
Wandering around didn't sound like the best idea, but it was a idea, and perhaps it was their best option other than continuing to write.
Ignatius jotted some more notes down, mostly about lightning elementals and the fact that while he was fast naturally, he didn't have wings.
"I guess? Not sure what our options are other than looking for a way out," offered Ignatius, with a bit of a shrug. He then took it upon himself to fly around Arrakis and a bit ahead, looking around for anything that actually seemed strange. So far, nothing really did, besides for literally everything.

He would have called Ignatius a show-off for flying around him, but Arrakis had to admit it was pretty cool. He broke into a lope after him, not wanting to let his one friend out of his sight. He remembered a couple creeple from school and all that, but he had to admit that he was going to largely be useless trying to find anyone they knew. Anyone he knew well enough to recognise even under whatever shape-changing this was, Ignatius also knew. Well, he supposed he could be backup. Though, hopefully that wouldn't be necessary. Arrakis wasn't a particularly strong fighter normally, and this form was utterly alien to him at the moment. Its weight distribution was weird and different. It was making his neck hurt to have the horns on his head, though he did reflect with a bit of bemusement that he hadn't noticed any discomfort before.
Before?
Before remembering he was Arrakis Dismth, reaper student, and not Aran, Conquest horseman. He had never been Aran, Conquest horseman. He could still remember his family, the friends he'd made since coming to Amityville for schooling, the whole bit. This horseman business... that was what was unfamiliar to him. Unfamiliar like pretty much everything around him as he followed Ignatius. Nothing looked explicitly like a way out. At least, not that Arrakis could see. "I almost wish I could give us travelling music," he mused, an attempt at lightening the mood.

"Maybe we need some forboding music. Just something creeping," Ignatius turned over his shoulder and offered a wide grin, before falling back so they could walk alongside each other.
Or walk and fly.
Same difference.
"It's weird not being able to summon your music, eh?" Ignatius flexed his fingers, looking down at them. They were so ... brown. His skin wasn't brown. At least, it wasn't when he wasn't a horseman, but apparently he was a horseman now, a horseman of War, with wings in the pattern of his skin as what he should have been. It was strange. "It's weird not being an elemental. I guess I know what it's like to not having electricity coursing through me now, but."
He scrunched his nose.
"Not sure I like it. Everything feels less ... alive, I guess. I can't feel the pulses. I can't really run. I can't power my devices. It's ... strange."
He stopped in the air for a moment, hoovering as he wrote down what it felt like to be an elemental.

They had to have a bit of space between them to allow for Ignatius' new wings--which were still super cool, honestly--but it wasn't so much as to make Arrakis feel uncomfortable talking to him. He didn't have to shout, or anything. As Ignatius paused to scribble something, Arrakis also paused, amused. "Yeah, it's... not a comfortable thing, not having my music there. This weapon also isn't my weapon, and I don't like that much, either." He lifted aforementioned weapon, wrinkling his nose at it before putting it back by his side. "And Jack only knows how I'm supposed to get used to these." He gestured to the top of his head, where his horns were, still strange and heavy. He couldn't even think of how he could use them as a weapon, and it wasn't like they offered much defense except to the very top of his head. What was the point of them? Aesthetic? Did Conquest horsemen just... really like the aesthetic of horns?
"I mean, I guess 'Aran' is an alright name," he shrugged. "But I like mine better." He did not comment on the fact that, technically, both names were his. "Hey, at least you still have one of your names? Even if I can't pronounce it half the time," he grinned back at Ignatius.

"Are Conquest Horsemen at all related to Demons?" asked Ignatius, a bit amused as he looked over the horns that were on Arrakis' head. They didn't look right there, but that was mostly because he was used to Arrakis being, well, not a Horseman.
Or a demon.
He smirked down at Arrakis, knowing the other man wasn't necessarily being serious. "Okay, it's yil-dir-im. Not that hard to pronounce." A pause, and then a wink. "But there's a reason why I use Ignatius. Or Ig. I like it better anyway, but I also don't get asked a bunch of questions about it.
"My name is such a lightning elemental name, though." He laughed. "It literally means lightning, ya know? I'm also a pretty fast flier I think, so I guess the name stuck even though I'm not ... lightning."
Instead of letting himself be depressed by that aspect, he kept looking around for something that looked out of place. Of course, considering he felt entirely out of place, nothing he was doing was working. He needed more time. Or more people. Or more people and more time.

"I mean," he shrugged, "not that I know of? I know next to nothing about horsemen, much less specific clans." He grinned. "So, honestly, they could be. But I could ask the same thing about War horsemen and those wings you have going on." As Ignatius went over his actual first name for Arrakis, Arrakis chuckled. "I mean, I usually pronounce it that way, though sometimes yil-di-rim if I'm talking too fast." He stuck his tongue out good-naturedly. "Not like many people ask me things, much less about you." The fact that it was quite the lightning elemental name made Arrakis laugh with Ignatius. "You're a faster flier than I am?" he joked.
Of course, Ignatius wasn't the only one looking around for anything out of place. Unfortunately, he was also not the only one not finding anything.

This was disappointing. Ignatius wouldn't even know what to start looking for, really, to get himself out of there. Maybe he should just start documenting things.
Perhaps that was why Alice woke him up? So his fake self could know something of his "original self." He didn't like giving up, though. That made him uncomfortable.
"Yes, I'm definitely faster than you. And your invisible wings." He raised a brow, smirking teasingly. "Do your horns work as wings? They don't seem flexible. Or pretty. I think my wings are prettier." As much as he didn't feel like the wings belonged, they were nice. To show them off, because Ignatius was nothing if not a show-off, he spun around once again.
"But they look like my skin so, I suppose that's a given. Navy with bright blue. Not right now though. I'm so brown."
My skin looks like my wings, got jotted down in his phone.
