Crickets chirped mirthfully just outside as Cor stirred. He peered over to his side at Noah whom was fast asleep. He looked so dead when he was asleep. It was worrying, but not something the other horseman could help.
He carefully snaked a hand free and held it out just inches from the famine's nose and waited. Just long enough to feel the light reassuring touch of their breath against his palm. He sighed. It was comforting to be reminded that he was there still despite the uncertainty that lingered on the horizon.
He carefully disentangled himself from the other horseman and sat up before carefully inching to the side where he was certain he could not disturb him further with his movements. He sat there, in the inky black darkness of their den, alone with just him and his own thoughts. He was worried that something big was coming. Something he couldn't protect his mate from when they were sure to need him the most. He would fight though, fight with all he had. The only way he would let him down would be if he died and that was all there was to it.
He tried not to dwell on such thoughts for too long before finally assuring himself that he needed to enjoy the here and now before he made himself depressed. He moved over to crawl out of the tunnel, being extra careful to mind his wings as Noah was not awake to help him, should he get caught again.
