America & Mr. BFrom a distance and resisting his habit of making loud calls and flashy entrances, Mr. Bitterberry followed Ezra for part of the day on Saturday. For chunks of time, America would borrow his eyes, checking in on both bird and man. She was reminded of the beach concert, the little spy trying to look casual with a cigarette in his mouth as Ezra and Melany talked about the cave. America had to smile at the memory, even framed as everything was, with tension and a dangerous mystery in the air. This is in drabble form, so don't forget to keep your posts under a single bolded title to identify them!

planting a bugThe combination of abilities Leila had accumulated meant she could easily climb just about anything: all she had to do was summon up some vines, make herself super light and hoist her way up. Right now she was settled up on a tree branch, waiting for her son-twice-removed-by-magic to pass by underneath. Once he got close enough she plucked out a long, whitish strand of her own hair and, stretching her arm down as far as she could, prompted Friend to slide down it and land somewhere on Ezra's person. I'll meet you back on the ground, she thought at her termite companion. As she waited for a response or assessment from Friend, she also looked down at Ezra to see if she'd see something she'd missed, or something new.

America & Mr. BEzra was pretty boring, it seemed. It being a saturday, he seemed to mostly hang around his apartment; Mr. B could get close enough to look through the windows. Sometimes, Mr. B could catch a hint of iridescent fire. Sometimes it was only sparks and embers. When the fire was around, Ezra tended to be doing nothing interesting at all. He tended to stand and stare into space in his sparse studio apartment. But when it was gone, he would often be on his computer, or leaning over a book of notes, or playing his guitar. planting a bugFriend helpfully sent back Fire, and a mental image of the Burning Man. Ezra himself seemed to be looking around for something. Maybe she'd been spotted.

planting a bugSeeing him look around was kind of terrifying. Leila stayed light and tried to creep out of his line of sight. Friend's assessment was a little groanworthy until she thought about it more. Maybe Friend meant that the Burning Man was at the forefront, right now...? Not [Ezra]? she asked, sending along an image of the not-on-fire human they knew. She probably should have been asking Friend about him a long time ago. How strong is the [fire]?A weird question, but maybe the answer would give her more to work with.

concerns about fatherJeremiah liked to visit July and September frequently enough. They were good conversationalists and kept him on his toes. Besides for a while they had been his only company and, in the end, they were still his sisters. So he would stop by to have a cup of tea, perhaps play something on the piano for them or simply help (for he was never idle when here, it would not do). Today it had been playing the piano and talking (there might have been a little singing) and eventually letting the piano play itself while there was dancing. When it was time to, a kiss was pressed to each cheek, but he paused as he stepped back. "Before I go," he said softly, "I wanted to ask if Father has been more on edge of late?" They saw him more than Jeremiah did. "He's not seemed himself." At least, more than just having a body that was not eternal fire. "He's been fidgety." shibrogane *will keep this brief* *also supplies hugs*

planting a bugPlease don't stay if you feel you're in danger, I'll come find you. Her eyes made finding insects easier than ever. It was hard not to get distracted by all the ones crawling around the tree she was in. Can the fire be weakened or stopped? The question was phrased with an image of the Burning Man's fire leaving Ezra's body and vanishing. She didn't know what answer to expect, if any. But she would give anything to be told yes.

concerns about father"Oh, he'll be here soon," said July. She adjusted one of the clips in her hair. "He's really very mad at you. I wouldn't stay for long." September only nodded from her spot on the piano bench. planting a bugFriend seemed puzzled by this question. A shivery uncertain image of someone dousing the Burning Man with water, then a separate image of covering the Burning Man with earth. No?

planting a bugOf course not water or earth... With magic? she tried again. If we can't put it out, can [burning man] be separated from [Ezra]?
Can we save the human lost in the fire?

concerns about fatherJeremiah let out a sigh and nodded. "Of course." Not that he was entirely sure why Ezra was mad at him. "I suppose I will have to do something to ease his anger. It won't do to have Father mad at me." Another smile was given - he always had them for July and September - before he bowed. "Take care, July- September." He had a smile for both. "I'll visit again another time." He would not linger if Ezra was going to be here. It wasn't time to approach yet and that meant it was time to leave.

business as usualIt was a long shot, looking for Ezra to be so close to his parents after what he had done—not that Rabbit knew the half of it—but he had little choice. It was vitally important that he keep up appearances, that he not let anyone know that he knew the sirens were in danger. So he searched where he could, keeping an eye out for Father mostly during smoke breaks, which he now took within sight of Equinox... if half a block away.shibrogane pls don't die from tags shibe

business as usual Rabbit got both eyes on Ezra, if only briefly. His father stopped at the bus stop somewhat diagonally across the street, and as he was stopped, Rabbit was treated to the extremely interesting image of burns crawling across Ezra's face. Then they shrank back; they didn't seem to reach equilibrium by the time Ezra's bus came.
