They arrived in the jungle, wearing their more traditional clothing. Cor had a razor sharp knife strapped to his thigh with an ornate handle poking out from its sheathe. Most likely a gift once he was old enough, and something he may one day pass on to Dio once she was old enough.
He crouched low amid larger leaves that blotted out the bright sun above but the warm humidity was almost suffocating for some. Not for him. Hopefully not for Noah either. He nodded once at the famine that flanked his side.
He pondered what sort of prey they had in mind.

Noah was a creature of the desert, being Famine; he liked the heat. He was less fond of the humidity, but he was also partnered with a War horseman. He had learned to tolerate the dampness, and his vines did well in it. He moved silently in bare feet, feeling the softness of the ground beneath him, and checked for signs of small prey.
When he found animal tracks, he motioned to Cor; as they often did, he would slip around to flush the prey, and his mate would catch and dispatch it. They worked together well.
He padded quietly in a long arc around where he'd noted the animal tracks heading; it was a rodent of some sort, he thought, possibly a ground squirrel type. If he'd estimated right, it should be in a cluster of bushes not far away. He stalked closer, listening for the sounds of movement under the foliage.

Cor circled around in the opposite direction and crouched lower to hide. His eyes widening slightly to better see as he waited patiently for his mate to do his part.
It indeed appeared to be some sort of large rodent, larger than Noah likely estimated initially. It was a capybara in fact, and it was distractedly nibbling on some vegetation when Noah caught sight of it.

Noah slipped closer a few steps at a time, freezing each time the animal paused in its feeding, then padding forward again as it relaxed, until he was almost on top of it. Then he rushed forward with a weird, shrill cry.
The capybara bolted away from the strange apparition attacking it. It angled off to the side, and Noah dodged closer to scare it more accurately toward Cor.

Cor's pupils dilated immediately upon hearing Noah'as cry and he readied himself.
The clueless creature shrieked and ran, it's heart beating rapidly in its throat, sending itself desperately away from Noah and right towards...
... Cor leapt forth from the bushes and onto the creature's back, sending it tumbling sideways and landing harshly on its side under the horseman's sturdy weight. He could feel its heart beating rapidly, its fear tangible as he slid the blade from it's hilt and placed the sharp edge along the wet brown fur. The creature still struggled and snorted. The heart beating faster and faster and then sharply - with a swift movement of the blade - slower and slower as bright red soaked the earth. Cor wasting no time to stand and hoist the animal up by its ankles to allow the blood to rain out faster.
They didn't have much time to wait before Dio would be awake. She was bound to be hungry too.
The heart stopped. Cor made quick work of the animal soon after.

It was all over by the time Noah made his way over to Cor, the capybara captured and neatly dispatched, leaving only the deep red stain in the earth to mark where it had been caught. "It will make a good meal. Good work," Noah said, nodding and giving Cor a brilliant smile.
