Quote: [ JOB LISTING ] Salesman [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] As a part time salesman in the store, you will help to part customers with their money and sell them our products. Upselling is rewarded only when it is subtle, after all Horse isn't a crass establishment, we sell a lifestyle, not just a product!
Commission is generous and the rewards are many.
[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d6 twice, each roll is half the day.
- For whatever reason it seems someone who is enamoured with a competitor's brand has come in just to argue with you about their merits and not buy anything at all. - The sale is very easy indeed, after all your customer is dressed in branded clothing and came here with plenty of money, you even sell them some accessories at three times the markup. - This sale is all right, the person doesn't want much and no amount of convincing them seems to get anywhere, they buy a case for their existing product and leave - Tyr stops by while you are making a very tough sell and the customer is so distracted by meeting the CEO that they relent and spend more than they intended to, even taking out some insurance on their product. - Customer wastes your time by seeming very interested for most of the morning, asking about every single product on sale, going through tests and examples and ultimately saying they will "come back tommorow" as they leave. - An older customer is getting rid of their hugely outdated phone and is only too happy to take you up on the latest hPhone along with lessons for it

She knew she wasn't much for sales, but she was willing to try. Anything worth doing was worth doing well, as the saying went.
So she stood there, fidgeting with her name tag while she waited for her first customer. And there! There they were! Someone came right and just started browsing. Sen Shi walked right over to stand in front of them.
"Hi. How are you today?" Check the first thing on 'how to talk to customers' off the list. "Can I help you find anything? We are running a special on -"
"No, no," the customer interrupted, "I'm just here for a case."
Sen Shi didn't know what kind of case, but that didn't' matter. "Oh, well, we have lots of those. We also have-"
"No, that's fine. I just want this case right here." The customer reached out and picked up a plain white phone case. "That's all."
"Are you sure? We have --"
"That's all," the customer said again, moving towards the cash register.
Sen Shi frowned a little. How was she supposed to sell things if people wouldn't even listen to her?

She didn't even have to go to bother the other customer, they came to her.
"I'm sorry," they said, "but do you have the Samguns 5v234? You know it's the best thing on the market right now, right? Where do you keep them? I'd like to see one."
Sen Shi stared at the man. "I don't think we have one of those." It was possible they did, but she didn't recall them from the product briefing. "What is it?"
"Oh, right," the customer said. Sen Shi did NOT like their tone. "This is a Pale Horse store. I remember now. You guys only carry sub par goods. Second best. You really should consider getting into a deal with Samguns because their stuff is top of the line. I mean, just look at -" he was reaching into his pocket as he spoke. "- it. This is a work of art."
Sen Shi looked down at the phone in his hand. "Are you trying to sell it to me? Because you can't do that. This is OUR shop, not yours. Please leave."
"Haha! I win!" The customer laughed as he left.
Sen Shi was thoroughly confused.
