Her door was unlocked, though Xiao wasn't actually certain as to whether or not that had been intentional or not. He'd knocked, and when that hadn't yielded any results, had tried the knob, which had given away quite easily. And really, it wasn't as though Xiao sometimes let himself into Loki's room without knocking before, so he felt no guilt about doing it now.
Besides, he had knocked. And now he was sitting in a pile of cushions on the floor, sprawled comfortably, a book in hand, while he waited for her to come home.

Death clan had a hard time letting go of the past, and Loki's room was no exception - it had the same grim wrought-iron design as most of the temple, inlaid with small glowing jewels and lit by magical torches. The part that was less strictly priestesslike, however, was the way she'd covered an entire wall in pages torn from books, crude drawings, and blurry photographs, to form what could only be described as a 'conspiracy wall'. Given the crudeness of the images, however, it was unclear whose trail she was on. When she was not honing the art of trance, she was often borrowed by other clans to serve as an interrogator of captured hunters and other hostiles.
Loki didn't notice Xiao at first - it took a few moments for her to realize he was there. Her body language immediately jumped from exhaustion to far-too-forward flirtatiousness as she approached the reading corner. Oh, no, her hair was such a mess, too! How embarrasing. "Xiao! I wasn't expecting you. In... in my room."

He heard the door unlock and looked up, Xiao's brows raising as the small, slight form of Loki slipped into the room. He was - unfortunately - not graced with height himself, but it made it somewhat easier to bear because it wasn't as though Loki was a towering figure in and of herself.
"I thought I would come by and see how you were doing," he said, unfolding himself from his relaxed position to sit up and trying not to smile at the flustered reaction. Xiao reached up a hand and gently took ahold of Loki's wrist, giving her hand a little squeeze.
