Isabelle has entrusted you with a new security clearance, allowing you to do work in the more secretive Experimental arm of the labs. Your lab specimens today are hidden inside of a room with no windows and no door you have access to. With you is a lab station with several substances, a computer with extensive readouts, and a file on your specimen. The room is oddly soundproof to all things.
Roll 2d20. You must combine substances into a mixture that causes harm . You must successfully craft and administer this concoction to succeed. After creating the mixture, you slide the syringe into a slot and simply wait to see the results.
You may attempt this 3 times per day.
You must sign an NDA to work in this branch, a non-disclosure agreement that binds you from talking too freely about the work done due to the cutting edge technology, but you are welcome to chat freely with other techs. This means you may write with a friend if you like. Feel free to explore any moral implications with these tests.
Match each individual dice to the below. You may choose what sort of "animal" is within the room from the following list: chicken, chimpanzee, dog, guinea pig, horse, mouse.
Mixtures: • 1-4: The solution is viscous, vibrant red, and reeks of metal. • 5-8: The mixture is runny, dim green, and smells of a boggy swamp. • 9-12: The mixture does not come together. Fail, try again. • 13-16: The acidic liquid is translucent blue, and cloudy. It has no odor. • 17-20: The substance is entirely black, as if a hole was there rather than matter. It smells of sulfur.
Effects: • 1-4: The target's readings go haywire for a moment, but they soon recover. Fail, try again. • 5-8: The vital signs slow until they remain low enough to be considered an induced coma. Success. • 9-12: The readings are unclear, suddenly distorting as if affected by a magnetic field. Success. • 13-16: While the room is sound proof, you can still hear echoes of nightmarish screams. Success. Please quote Its Me Debz for a reward. • 17-20: The specimen has broken loose from the room. Please evacuate and consider this a success.
After your day has concluded, please fill out the following form describing your experience here at Bates Diagnostics. Your happiness is important to us. (Answers may be brief.)

After spending so much time outside, Liya thought it might be a good change of pace to do something inside for a little bit. She didn't want to deal with the humans in the bank, however, so she opted to do some laboratory work. She hoped that she wouldn't be working by herself this time. It was always much better for the War Horseman if she had a buddy with her.
At the very least that way she wasn't talking to herself. So after signing the contracts and being granted access, she made her way to the room and settled in for the day.
Liya War Horseman; Warrior Wild Arcana (formerly The Tower Arcana Group D) Journal - 5"0 tall - Mother hen - Loves you all!
The labs here where more like the rehab room in Dusk, but Rohim had to admit the work was FAR more interesting than say, working in a bank where he had to talk to humans and ware clothes that felt terrible on his body. The lab coats were loose and flowing and allowed him to stuff things into many pockets. He had a nice collection of pens going currently.
He used one of those pents to sign his way into the labs grinning happily as they escorted him down to his work station. Wandering in he found Liya already waiting. Without missing a beat he scrambled into his seat, “Helllloooooooo,” he said with a delighted buzz getting into his seat hunching over his work station inspecting all sorts of odds and ends. “Who is this one today? Are you perhaps one of my ahhhh peers]/i] from home?”

Liya of course brightened as the prospect of getting to work with someone. "Hiiiii~" she chirped happily, all smiles and radiating friendliness. "If you mean whether I'm of a feathery persuasion and always ready for a fight Iiiiii might be?"
Her lab coat was not so filled and she only had the one pen for writing down observations with. "This your first time working here?" she asked, putting off gathering the materials for a little bit longer because she finally had someone to talk to during these experiments!
Rohim was already dragging things in arms reach over flickering side to side with interest at each one. Bottles, burners, things with strange labels.
He glanced up as she chirped hello back, "Ahhhh, not one of mine, but good enough! These labs have less...." he paused, "Roaches." He said after a moment, "Then my last one." He grinned again before standing up.
"Here yes. In a lab? Of course not!" She might be delayed but he was already zipping about the room to inspect what was on hand. "Have you done this before?"

Liya tried very hard not squirm in discomfort. Some types of bugs were bad enough but the flying ones were liable to send her into a berserk frenzy to get away from them.
So she told him as much. "I hope you don't have any of them with you right now. They might... make me compromise the experiment. And we wouldn't want to do things over and over again if we can do it fewer times yeah?"
But it was clear she wasn't fully relaxed because while the mixture resembled the first compound she'd mixed before, it did not have the desired effect on their specimen.
Rohim paused holding a vile of something dark and bubbling cocking his head as she spoke about the bugs. Carefully he lowered the glass and its contents shaking his head. "No, no bugs out here, all back there safe and sound as it should be yes." On that note he turned to his own work once more.
The result was something green, sticky, it smelled of bog water and nasty things. Yet it seemed to be acceptable to the famine horsemen as he moved back to his station again. "I believe this mixture will work." Filling a sample he placed it gently in the test chamber tube.
He sat at the desk poking the glowing screen, he wasn't sure what he was reading really. He didn't like the whole tech thing and would have liked to see this dog in person to study the affects. What he assumed was normal readings (the wiggly lines wiggled the same wiggles) suddenly went berserk.
"That's.... good yes?"

Reassured that her shift with the little Famine Horseman was going to be bug-free, Liya gave a sigh of relief and could concentrate on their work. She inspected Rohim's results and nodded, "Yup! I think that's exactly what the company's looking for."
Her second mixture had definitely succeeded where the first one failed. So much so that the specimen even managed to break out. "How fast are you at running?" she asked, knowing some of the Famine clan sometimes required assistance in physical tasks when they were unable to make use of their bugs.
He was scribbling down notes on his recent mixture when pausing to glance up nodding. "I prefer to see the subject live it's more.... personal? True? I don't know, I don't like not watching, feels wrong. Not proper." He huffed softly but did smile as she confirmed his results where proper.
That said he followed after Liya as she prepared her second batch, he was done for now so he was at least kind enough to take notes for her, or try, as his writing was fairly jittery.
It wasn't till the subject was given the latest injection that things would be considered 'out of hand'. "Ahhh mmmm yes? Decent. I think. But the creature can't reach us here and I think we're aptly able to handle it." He offered over his notes on her mixture. "Do we continue testing or do these successes thus far conclude the testing?" He flipped through a clipboard.
"Oh. Questions. Just like The Dororthy had when we woke up." He rolled his eyes, "I like this place better at least. Better questions."

Liya did not want to take the chance of the specimen proving the little Famine Horseman wrong. She would have been fine handling it on her own but she would really rather not have the Famine Horseman summon their army of roaches. Biting on the clipboard, pen in her pocket, she moved to carry Rohim and made a break for it to safety.
They can fill up those forms in another room. Away from the very likely rampaging specimen. And hey, if worse comes to worse, they could always dispose of it together. Nothing like a good fight to bring Horsemen closer with each other.

Did you enjoy your work today? Eh. So-so.
Would you like to be considered for permanent employment in this branch? Maybe as a disposal unit.
Did you see or hear anything unusual during this test? No? Why is this always asked?
Rohim showed no worry at all, it was just another day in the labs as far as he was concerned! He was actually looking over the question sheet. He had no intention of summoning bugs at the moment. So when he was scooped like a sack of potatoes over the horsemens shoulder he let out a delighted cry.
“EPIC GET AWAY SCEEEEENEEEE!” He laughed in delight as he was carried along with Liya, the whole time scribbling on his question sheet while they sprinted along.

Once she'd set him down somewhere safe and they'd filled up the forms and turned them over, the War Horseman gave a laugh, "You bet, cutie~" she reached out to give him a pat on the head, "Just, uh, warn me about when you bugs are coming out to play first, okay?"
