Sporting a new set of fancy duds, Darkjay returned for another go at poking animals with syringes to see how they would react. It was easy enough work compared to other jobs, so he wasn't too put off to do it. This time when he entered the laboratory, he found he wasn't the only one who had volunteered. "Oy, who're you?" He asked in way of greeting as he put on a lab coat over his human clothes. He didn't care if he teamed up with someone, hell they might get the work done faster. Or he could let him do all the work while he sat back and did nothing.

The clothing he had to wear always felt stuffier than he'd like, restricting in a way that didn't seem practical, but it suited the task, he guessed, so he sucked it up. A job was a job and he was here to do it.
Dark, inky looking hands found their way into coat pockets once the labcoat was pulled over his other clothing.
"Ey!" He responded chipperly, drawing his hand back out to offer a saluting hello to the person calling to him. "Name's Efreet, wanna buddy up? I'm kinda s**t at this stuff without some help."
Yet, he kept taking jobs outside his intelligence level. It was fine. Surely.
Green, orange rimmed, eyes flicked across their work station and the animals that had been prepped for them. "Experimenting." He mused allowed when he looked from chicken to chimp, marveled by the nice array of species to choose from. "And this coat, makes me feel like a mad scientist. It's cool."
He seemed jovial, even excited.

Darkjay couldn't say he was much better, considering he knew nothing about how the gene splicing or the research stuff worked. He just knew how to poke animals with syringes. "Darkjay. And sure, why not" He shrugged, gazing at the many animals they could choose from. "I did this with a horse before, seemed to work alright. Dunno what they'll give us this time." He stood back to see what animal choice Efreet would make before he would make his own. He'd never thought about the coats making him look like a mad scientist, nor did he particularly care. "I guess so. Cool." He sounded super enthusiastic too.

"Sweet name~" Efreet said, head bobbing as he skimmed the animals and tried to decide what he was gonna go for first. "This is my first time," he admitted, shoulders shrugging.
Lots of things were firsts over in this area, but he didn't seem to mind. New experiences meant new people and he like people. Like Darkjay, he seemed like a chill dude.
Quote: 1. Chicken + 3. Increased Aggression = 3-5: No results. Fail. Try again.
Upon selecting a chicken, Efreet administered the gene therapy and watched it as it clucked about. For a long moment, he thought nothing was going to happen when the chicken suddenly turned, an angry glint in it's eye before it was charging at him.
Panicked, Efreet skittered out of the way before hurrying to leave the chicken behind in the room. "Well, angry chickens...not what I expected..."

For once Darkjay wasn't being a aggressive jerk, but he did laugh at the chicken pecking at Efreet. "You're supposed to eat those, you know." Well, not these ones, they were important test subjects. But whatever. He walked into the lab and kept a wide berth from the chickens. He was not about to look like a idiot, so he picked a tiny Chihuahua dog, picking it up with one hand and injecting the serum with the other, then he placed it on the table and waited. And waited. And waited some more. "Well this one sucks" He huffed, put the dog back in it's cage, then walked out of the lab. "Serum didn't do s**t."

Efreet watched Darkjay as he worked, leaning against a wall as watched him pick a subject, who seemed less problematic than his chicken companion, and made sure to pay close attention.
The man had said that he'd done it with a horse once before, so maybe he'd have -
Oh, nothing happened. Boring.
"Hm. Well maybe our syringes are full of faulty stuff." He wrinkled his nose and scanned for a new target. "Gonna try another."
His companion had mentioned something about a horse...maybe he ought to try a horse too. Yeah, that sounded like a great idea so Efreet picked a horse from the lot and approached it, carefully injecting the animal with the serum and waited.
The horse didn't seem to like the fact that he'd injected it with something and tossed it's head, Efreet accidentally scratching it's neck and opening a sliver of a wound. To his surprise, the thing began to clot pretty quickly.
"Oooh the accelerated healing seems to be working this time." He scribbled on his notepad. "Whatcha gonna pick now?"

It seemed Efreet was able to get a successful experiment, so he needed to step up his game and get one too. Kinda hard though, since he was dealing with animals. He decided it would be best to use a chicken, since he could show off just how better he was at handling them. "Gonna use that bird you had before. See if I can tame it." He stepped into the lab, opened the cage door and was immediately set on by a angry chicken. "OW- YOU STUPID - "He jabbed the bird, and only had to wait a few moments before it literally exploded. Now he stood there, annoyed and covered in chicken guts. Brilliant.

While Darkjay was busy getting his chicken on, Efreet was excited to have had a successful experiment and was busy jotting down the answers to the few question on the survey after.
Quote: Name & Job: Efreet - Laboratory Assistant Please describe how today's events made you feel emotionally. Okay??? Do you think the targeted genes are useful? Yes!! Did you have any ethical problems with the work done today? Uh, no?
They weren't the most eloquent, with too many punctuation marks being used than what was appropriate for a formal report like this. He only looked up when addressed and offered a cheery grin with a two fingered salute. "Right-o friend!" He chirped, finishing up with the form so he could watch Darkjay at work -
Oh.
Oh.
For one reason or another, Efreet found the exploding chicken to completely and utterly hilarious. "Oh man. So much for taming eh? Looks like you need a baaaath."

It was a testament to his patience that Darkjay didn't throttle him on the spot, instead just glowing at the horseman while brushing off the chicken guts. Dammit they were all in his wings, he'd have to groom them and everything. "Yes." He growled. "Yes I do." He wasn't sure how long he could resist smashing the lab up however. He then preceded to fill out the stupid form. With plenty of swear words and insults thrown at the owners of the lab. Quote: Name & Job: Darkjay. Stabbing animals with stuff. Efreet couldn't contain his too large grin as he looked at his gut covered comrade. "It's okay buddy." He went to pat the man on the back before hesitating and pulling back.
No, he didn't want to be covered in animal feathers and guts.
"Hey, at least you can pull off the coat now that we're done." He offered as what he hoped was a silver lining of some sorts.
That would remove some of the grime and, because Efreet thought himself to be a helpful sort of guy, he decided to make Darkjay an offer. "I can help de-gut back in the common room if ya want?"
See, he did a good job AND was trying to be a good friend!

Darkjay's gaze followed that ever approaching hand, then it's quick retreat away from his slime coated arms. The feathers stuck to him in odd places, contrasting with his magnificent brown and white plumage. His glowering stare was the only answer he received about his 'mad scientist' look, as he shrugged off the coat and used it to wipe off some of the muck. "...I'm good." He preferred to de-gut himself, thanks. He could tell the horseman was trying to be 'nice', so for once he opted not to be a complete and utter a**.

Peeling off his own coat, Efreet didn't seem bothered by the dismissiveness of his companion. "Okay!" He chirped, folding his borrow coat in to a crumpled mess before setting it on a counter with his clipboard.
"If ya change your mind, lemme know~" There was that two fingered inky salute before the war pony was spinning on his heels and heading towards the exit.poke mattix fin from me and thanks so much!
