Quote: [ JOB LISTING ] Tech Support [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] As one of our clever ponies at the tech Stable, your job is to fix customer's technology and troubleshoot it while making as much money as possible, making sure to fit and maintain our monitoring implants and software in the process.
[ MECHANICS ] Roll 1d6 twice, each roll is half the day. You must obtain two successes to pass the day and collect your prize
- The hardware you are brought is a complete mess, it's screen is cracked in a way you can't replace, it simply won't boot correctly or it has been in some sort of terrible sticky accident. All you can do is commemorate its memory and send the customer over to your colleague on the shop floor, losing your commission in the process. FAIL - The fix is easy, the customer isn't very tech savvy and had simply tripped a background setting without meaning to, you can fix it in five minutes but those five minutes cost them dearly. SUCCESS - Somehow this customer has managed to break the monitoring process on their device, taking them off of the collective data grid, this has in essence bricked their tech, they bring it to you, you easily reinstall the spyware and they are on their way. SUCCESS - Some piece of hardware needs replaced, it is easily done but you tell them it will take 24 hours and charge them incredible prices for the part they need. SUCCESS - The customer wants nothing more than to talk to you about the store, the products, the CEO and everything else and none of your social hints to go away seem to work on them, delaying you in your work for half the morning FAIL - The hardware is outdated but somehow you get it running again, Tyr stops by and offers the customer a discount on an upgrade to a more modern product which they take and end up spending a great deal more than they meant to that day on in-store financing. SUCCESS

Working within a company that was lead by someone from Death seemed like the most logical way to gather energy for the Death commons. (Despite actually being told such things when she got her crystal). It, like many of the businesses, didn't seem like something that could utilize her limited talents but a job was a job after all.
And looking over the list of responsibilities clued her into the forklift position. That seemed like it could be some fun. (And a disaster waiting to happen). But before she was even able to verbally confirm the job position she was interested in, someone pulled her aside and guided her somewhere else.
Apparently, from the yammering they were doing, they had been on the same floor as her when she had been working with the electronic construction. Admiring her work and ethic, and recognizing her, had given them the idea for a different sort of task. They thought, wrongly she wanted to say to them, that she would be perfect for the IT department. Clearly they thought she actually knew something about computers. And she wanted to express how wrong they were.
She found herself plopped in front in a strange room with a strange little desk with various instruments - that actually looked really fun when she stared at them - and a small line of humans waiting. There were a few others working behind, talking amongst themselves as they worked on various electronics.
Elaia looked at the person next in line and stared at their weird machine. Even to her it looked really old and the wired look fried. She picked it up and dropped it in place, nearly breaking it in half in front of the customer, he was not pleased but she kept on poking at it until she pulled up a random selection of tools. The closest ones to her. They probably weren't meant for the job but she used them anyways.
Somehow, with all her tinkering, the device managed to power right back up again - honestly it was just a loose plug. As she fiddled with it some more, they were greeted by the presence of Tyr who, after a small exchange with the customer, managed to make a deal involving discounts or whatever. Elaia watched as the clansman worked some sort of magic on the human, smiles and clever words to sort of trick him into spending even more money than he was originally going to.
It was really impressive. Something that maybe she would have wanted to learn; to make people do things like she wanted (like sparring! Gosh fellow clansmen).

The line soon began to die down as each customer was placed with a technician, jobs were handled and Elaia had managed to at least make one successful round even if the boss had stepped in and taken over. (Less work for her really).
She watched intently as the others went about the computers and phones and whatnot, expertly moving their hands over the wires and components as if they weren't even thinking. Perhaps thats how Terr worked when he made things. Just sort of.... did. It was kind of amazing and Elaia couldn't imagine she had even had such focus or drive to sit so still and complete such things. She was always moving, always wanting to fight and dance about with her weapon and just prove herself. It was so hard to just sit still sometimes.
A voice from the counter pulled her from her thoughts, a young female human had arrived and with no one else to take her, Elaia gathered it was her time to shine once again. After being told the problem, Elaia ignored half of what she was told and almost broke the device in half to see what was going on with her own eyes. Something obviously needed to be replaced (and at this point probably a few more things). Unsure of what really needed to be done she took the thing in her hands and walked to one of the more experienced workers to get their 'second opinion.'
The part, she was told, was not available at the moment but would arrive on the morning truck and that would need to be stressed to the customer. That was easy enough really. "We don't have it," she began. Then corrected herself, "right now. Come back tomorrow." The female nodded, thankfully not upset about about to yell like some of the other customers had done throughout the day (those jerks).
"How much is it going to be?"
Like she knew that, it wasn't like there was a sheet or something that had the prices. "Probably like... one.... hundred of your money?" Dollars? That sounded right, along with the price. (It wasn't). And again, the female seemed totally alright with it. Even thanked Elaia as she filled out the paper work for the process of fixing her thing to begin. The small Guardian just sort of stood there and then took the device and the slip to the back for everyone tomorrow to deal with. It was the end of her shift now anyways, not like she had to care anymore.
Yay, now she got to go home.
