When the elevators opened, Vin lead Rep over to the specimen bay and turned around. "This is not investigating. We just want to show things." He admitted. The rows were lined in various tanks and containers with other roomed with cages for larger beasts. "We have been finding stray animals for here. Many wander around lost without anyone. Rats. Cats. Dogs. Foxes. Found a deer once. We don't know where it came from. But I want to show you my little ones too."
Entering another room, he opened a glass door and gestured for Rep to come follow him. There was a large plot of dirt with high walls around it that went up to his hips. Pushing the gate open to the enclosure, he gestured for Rep to come in and shut the door before kneeling down and patting the sandy soil. One by one the ground rustled and moved before long, fact larvae started to peek tiny black faces up before their glossy gray bodies emerged all around.
"We do not have a scarling, but we have been watching over this brood. We like them very much. We were very happy when the events of yesterday did not cause them hard." He picked two up, and then a third, and placed them onto his lap and chest. Their small, pinprick legs stuck out of their undersides and clung to his rags as he stroked their segments and clicked softly to them.
The others, familiar with being held and company, moved over to Rep to see if they could get attention and possibly a meal.
"They are friendly and have stopped biting unprovoked now. No more spitting either." He said, rather proudly at having accomplished these life lessons for the larvae. "We were thinking maybe being a parent would not be bad if half like this. You seem happy. We want to be happy too."

Rep nodded. "Sure, just seeing s**t." Though he didn't mention that he was treating it as investigation regardless. Vin might not be suspicious of his own clan but that didn't change that Rep felt like the crystal interference could come from literally anywhere. "Wow though." he said. "This is quite the ******** menagerie. Like a walk-in wardrobe meets a cafeteria thing." He couldn't help but eye the penned animals up a little as they passed them.
He tried to be a little more polite as they headed into the second enclosure, the one which housed Vin's pets, avoiding staring too hungrily at anything even before they began.
When insects came up out of the ground all around them he fluffed up his feathers in distress but like a true friend stayed put, nodding and looking as enthusiastic as he could, after all they were important to his friend and he'd chosen to share them with him. "Wow there are a lot." he said. "It hard enough for me to deal with three kids let alone this many."
Feeling heartened by the fact nothing had bitten him or spat on him, he picked one up and petted it in a similar way to Melvin, trying very hard. "It's pretty decent honestly. It helps when you have help doing it, I don't think I'd be quite as good if I was on my own." He tried to imagine a world where he couldn't get away from his kids when he had to and frowned in concern. "Yeah, I really don't think I'd be good at all honestly."
