Isabelle has entrusted you with a new security clearance, allowing you to do work in the more secretive Experimental arm of the labs. Your lab specimens today are hidden inside of a room with no windows and no door you have access to. With you is a lab station with several substances, a computer with extensive readouts, and a file on your specimen. The room is oddly soundproof to all things.
Roll 2d20. You must combine substances into a mixture that causes harm . You must successfully craft and administer this concoction to succeed. After creating the mixture, you slide the syringe into a slot and simply wait to see the results.
You may attempt this 3 times per day.
You must sign an NDA to work in this branch, a non-disclosure agreement that binds you from talking too freely about the work done due to the cutting edge technology, but you are welcome to chat freely with other techs. This means you may write with a friend if you like. Feel free to explore any moral implications with these tests.
Match each individual dice to the below. You may choose what sort of "animal" is within the room from the following list: chicken, chimpanzee, dog, guinea pig, horse, mouse.
Mixtures: • 1-4: The solution is viscous, vibrant red, and reeks of metal. • 5-8: The mixture is runny, dim green, and smells of a boggy swamp. • 9-12: The mixture does not come together. Fail, try again. • 13-16: The acidic liquid is translucent blue, and cloudy. It has no odor. • 17-20: The substance is entirely black, as if a hole was there rather than matter. It smells of sulfur.
Effects: • 1-4: The target's readings go haywire for a moment, but they soon recover. Fail, try again. • 5-8: The vital signs slow until they remain low enough to be considered an induced coma. Success. • 9-12: The readings are unclear, suddenly distorting as if affected by a magnetic field. Success. • 13-16: While the room is sound proof, you can still hear echoes of nightmarish screams. Success. Please quote Its Me Debz for a reward. • 17-20: The specimen has broken loose from the room. Please evacuate and consider this a success.
After your day has concluded, please fill out the following form describing your experience here at Bates Diagnostics. Your happiness is important to us. (Answers may be brief.)

Perhaps it was because of the pressing matters at hand with the state of the Dusk or all the businesses just ripe with opportunity and taking on any workers they could. It just seemed like a few more extra steps were needed in order to gain such high level clearance on sensitive materials and er, experiments? Or maybe he was putting too much thought into this.
Probably was.
All that mattered now was to do a good job and to impress the lovely clanslady Siluhe. Despite having geared towards helping out at the antique shop, the original intention, he had ended up steering her somewhere entirely different. A lab. That did experiments. Had to be a Famine base of operations, who else did such things?
Meelo looked about the windowless room they were in, paying no mind to the poor creatures they would be testing on. It felt a little more constrictive than the other job he had taken and the 'normal' human clothing they were meant to wear. He shifted his shoulders a little then looked at the smaller member of War. "Hope this is okay, little manu." She was a veteran of their clan, had seen probably worse but it was often hard to gauge how others felt about, well, torture.
name: Meelo journal:A link! clan: War (Soldier) arcana: Hermit description: Tall, tanned, lean, toned and tattooed. His brown hair is pulled into a man bun with part of the sides shaved. Eyes are green, clothes are barely there, a smile always present and wings are large, tan with red markings.
Siluhe stared at the lab station they were at, she was clueless why they would end up picking a part-time at a lab. Not that she refused to work in science aspects, but she - can be said lack of the required latents and smartness over it. It even puzzled her more when the CEO, Isabelle assigned them to perform some experiments when it was the first day they worked there. They were given a paper which they professionally called NDA that they promised not to talk about their job content in public. So Siluhe had a big question mark over her head: Why picking them if it was supposed to be not known by the community?
Some times later, she only came into a non-convincing conclusion that it might be the reason they were all from Four Clans and she herself was a veteran. Still, it was very weird. In order to focus on their job, she left those many questions behind her mind.
Doing experiments on animals did make her discomfort, however when Meelo showed his concern, she simply beamed at him. "It's fine. Remember the Law of Jungle - the fittest survives. It's all Mother Nature's selection, Meelo." The moment they were caught, they were already out of the survivial game. "Nature is cruel, that's why we always strive to get stronger."
She had to harden her heart into a rock, locking up the happy memories she spent with the jungle wildlife. That job required her to be aloof, not shakening by anything. She gave a glance over the room where the specimens were located, it could be said a black box when it didn't have windows or door. It might be a good thing for them not seeing their suffered faces and painful moans.
That kind of design - she guessed Isabelle had some thoughts into it.

The question of morality seemed to be a non-issue, as she had stated the laws of the jungle simply meant that the strong survived. Which was why they had done so for so long even with the unfortunate circumstances that had befallen them to shift how they lived. Meelo hummed thoughtfully and nodded, a small smile on his lips to further acknowledge her statement.
"So thoughtful little manu ~" perhaps a little too cheerful in their current environment, surrounded by various animals in cages who moaned and complained about what was possibly going to happen to them. The soldier himself had reached for a chicken, only picking the bird because he remembered how tasty they always were. And angry. Perhaps his experiment could improve the flavor (like that was possible). "I admire that in you, ya. Realist and tough, it's awesome."
Which he couldn't say too much about his own experience at the moment. He had reached for chemicals and agents at random, also never considering him intelligent in this field of study or work (despite picking the job). His skills and talents were elsewhere, as were her's and it was very evident with how the mixture went. Which was no where. The chicken would live. For now.
The petite horseman gave Meloo a look and couldn't help to tease him. "Mee~lo~ You're probably thinking roasted chicken, aren't you?" She didn't mind showing her mischeviousness when it was with her friends. They would accept who she was and how she was. His compliment was met with a smile, "Still not enough, I need to get stronger." She was thinking of someone she admired for a long long time, her hero and War star.
Her friend had already started moving stuff around and she didn't want to fall behind. Siluhe looked very confused at the various substances in different vials and tubes, then peeked at Meelo's side and decided to follow suit. She picked out a tube of milky colored liquor, slightly viscose and poured some into a breaker. Next, she turned to get a red clear liquor and poured it in as well. She used a rob to stir them while observing the progress. Instead of becoming one mixture, the two began to swirl and turned into alternative stripes, gradually solidified.
She was oddly quiet through all the actions and when he came to check her out. He would find Siluhe holding a rob and on the very end of it, a circle thing with rosy red and milky white stripes in swirly manner. "Er - Meelo, I don't think mine is successful......?" She waved the thing resembled human's lolipop a bit and frowned in confusion, she was supposed to make a liquid......? Yes?
He laughed deeply as she commented on her own results, "aa, no worries, I don't even think I made it out the gates." With a quick glance around, he made notice that no one seemed to be pressuring them to leave due to their inability to produce results right away. That seemed like a good sign that they were able to keep going. "Yeah, I think we can try again. Make it until you make it, I guess."
He began reaching for a few new collection of liquids to try out, a little bit different than his first. "Nothing wrong with always trying to get better, a good quality also to have, ya. Don't wanna be stagnant in life, or it'd get boring." There was always room for improvement, always a way to reach right up; wasn't that an Allan thing to say?
Meelo then leaned in, "always thinking about roasted chicken. How about you, me and spitfire here have a little dinner later." Yes, her was referring to the chicken as spitfire and yes his intentions was to eat it; as long as it didn't mutate horribly or something.
His hands went to work, aimlessly mixing a few of the chemicals until it actually produced some sort of favorable results. It didn't deflate and actually looked like something. Blue seemed like a good color even though it didn't smell at all - was that good? He shrugged anyways and reach over to the chicken. Was he supposed to feed it to the chicken or coat it? (Yeah, totally forgetting there was a syringe involved in this. Whoops).
Well, he went for both. Placed a little dish in front of the bird while he doused the rest of the liquid on its brown feathers. It didn't like that one bit, let out a blood curdling screech and then flapped its wings violently before descending from the table top to the floor below. It escaped, even managed past the door and Meelo couldn't help but be impressed.
After hearing Meelo's words, she was much relieved. Seeing how her clanmate did it, she realized she could mix some substances together instead of only two. She rolled her eyes at herself for being such a big retard. "I will make it TODAY!" Her determination burned like a camp fire .
"Exactly," the petite horseman smiled at his elaboration. "It's boring to be the toppest, that means you can't be better. Life turns more vivid when you have targets to reach." Her eyes sparkled like two yellow gems when she said so.
The test tube in her fingers almost slipped and dropped to the floor when she realized how he nicknamed the chicken. "Phew!" She feigned an agry face at Meelo but soon she cracked into a laughter. "Oh~ I'd love to but won't I disturb your important dinner date?" She knew well how to play the word game.
Siluhe randomly picked several tubes since she had no knowledge on what each of those substances were. She took another breaker and poured everything in. She waited a while before she mixed them together. The resistance to her new rod gave her a bad omen, she frowned slightly, wondered if she failed again.
Her action was somehow halted by the scream of the chicken, and she was just able to see how Ms. Spitfire ran off. "Well," she drawled. "It seems you piss off Ms. Spitfire. Now that your date's canceled, would you join me for dinner after this?" Siluhe grinned, eyes curled.
Shortly returned to her mixture, it changed into an eye-catching red color and smelled like metal. She held up her breaker to show Meelo, "Do you think it would work? I bet one coin it will." It's her work, how could she have no confidence in it?
"That's only one way to find out." She pumped the viscose solution into a new syringe and slid the syringe into the mysterious slot. Then all she did was waited and watched the vital signals on the screen. "Hmm, I guess I create a toxin." Siluhe announced with pride and a smug face.

Meelo couldn't help but give Siluhe a good long stare, even open d his mouth to sputter out a clarification while she just went on working. Did he not hear her correctly? He had been sure he hadn't been clear about his intentions.
Then she managed to pull a fast one on him. He laughed heartily and leaned in close even with the dangerous chemicals around. "Well that had been my intention in the first place." It was tempting to brush a hand upon hers but she was still working on her own experiment.
"I'll take that bet, in fact you can pick dinner if it works. Whatever you want, my treat." Of course he had intended that the whole time anyways and was sure she would be successful as he had. And simply grinned when it went as he suspected.
Their fellows in the lab seemed to usher them out then, making notes and clearing things as they went. Soon they were out the door and given a clipboard for their survey.

Did you enjoy your work today? It was pretty enjoyable even though I lost the chicken. Was hoping to have it for dinner later : (
Would you like to be considered for permanent employment in this branch? Nah, don't think this kind of work is for me, don't have the smarts. It was enjoyable though.
Did you see or hear anything unusual during this test? Nothing that seemed totally weird. No one else made any comments from what I saw.
Do you trust Bates Diagnostics? Sure, why not?
Done and done, he turned to Siluhe, "so where off to now?"
meegane
phone tag! Got a bit rushed in the end, puttered out. I'm hungry xD
"I hope the restaurants in Conquest floor would serve something nice, you know, we can't eat human foods. I'm rather a sweet tooth." She made an about-to-drooling expression. "Ahhh, it's usual to feel hungry after a day of work. And it's even worse when you talk about food."
Siluhe pressed her pen against her chin and pouted. "Hey Meelo, why humans love to fill in this and that?" Her face read 'I am hungry and not happy with that' when she ranted. Anyway, the petite horseman didn't expect a proper answer from him.
Holding her clanmate's hand, she skipped lightheartedly towards The Dusk. They had collected some FEAR and they're going to enjoy a great dinner together, what a nice plan!

Did you enjoy your work today? Well, I created a toxin so yup
Would you like to be considered for permanent employment in this branch? Not really, though it's interesting but it just doesn't suit me.
Did you see or hear anything unusual during this test? Nope.
Do you trust Bates Diagnostics? (Why the word trust is in italic?) I would say yes.
