Honestly, Yuki had just been browsing the shop. He'd done that a lot, sometimes resulting in the purchase of an interesting trinket or two. Though, when approached about a job he'd just followed the woman where ushered. Whether or not he hadn't actually been there for that purpose didn't really seem to matter. It wasn't like he had anything else to do, so why not this? With him listening and not really talking, he just gave a simple 'sure' once Adelaide confirmed that he was on board.
Now, somehow, he was being trusted to know how to inspect inventory with only one eye to work with. Okay.
Clipboard in hand, he looked from it to the boxes, before choosing a box to start with and carefully working on opening it.

Darkjay was back at the antique shop in his stupid human clothes, offering his assistance once more and hoping he wouldn't be stuck cleaning paintings again because that was annoying as ********. He did find out there was a more difficult job available; inventory manager. He didn't understand why that would be challenging. Counting boxes and writing down what their stuff was sounded easy.
Following Adelaide to the dock area he was greeted with many boxes, two dumbasses, and a famine horseman who was here for some reason. It wasn't that strange to see him, but he would comment on it none the less.
"Why the heck are you here?!" He exclaimed loudly when he saw Yuki.
For how loudly the war horseman had spoken to him, it was almost comical how slowly Yuki cast him a sideways glance. "Working." Apparently. "Is it common of war clan to not know the meaning of the term 'inside voice', or is it just you?"
He wasn't really wanting or waiting for an answer, but imagined he'd get one anyway. It still didn't give him much pause in doing his given task once he'd gotten started.
Setting the clipboard and pen on a corner of the open box, he carefully sorted and inspected each plate and utensil. He had to go back and count the forks again, to be sure there really were three missing. He marked down the results on the form he'd been given before packing the box back up again.

The answer to Yuki's question was, of course, a no. "Hmph, why should I have to be quiet. And I didn't know you got actually got off your a** to work. Aren't you too busy trying to look pretty, princess?"
He spoke as he picked up a clipboard, glancing at the contents and then at the boxes. Two of them were supposed to be ancient tapestries, but one was faded from water and the other wasn't even in the box. How the heck did they lose it?!
The second box was enormous, giving the famine horseman a bit of a delay as he tried to figure out how he should open it to not damage what was inside. Without wanting to tilt it and potentially dropping what was inside, he carefully scratched a hole into the cardboard and worked a small hole in the side just enough to peek in. Comparing his clipboard to the size, it was probably one of the clocks, because a brief feel inside certainly assured him that it wasn't the tapestries.
Pulling a small, sharp folding knife from one of his pockets, Yuki knelt to the floor to cut around the base of the box so he could just lift it off and lift it free. At least the part-timers could read an arrow suggesting what way the box should have been placed... Granted this wasn't the only grandfather clock on the list but it was the only long box that wasn't on his side. Well, maybe they were even stupider than he'd thought.
At least the clock here wasn't damaged, he noted once the box had been lifted free and he'd circled it with a critical eye. He'd also been admiring it, really. Then, he covered it again to keep it clean and safe until it could be displayed.
Yuki rolled his eyes - one solely a FEAR accomplished illusion to disguise the gruesome wound on his face - at the other man's jab, outwardly looking annoyed instead of offended. It was impossible that anyone actually knew just how much he hated being reminded of it.
"Says the narcissist who would run around naked if given the chance, I'm sure." Another thing about war clan that was rather disturbing at times was their habit of so openly showing off their bodies. It was as bad as conquest with their expensive silks, as far as Yuki saw it. Why would anyone want to show off like that? "Besides," he continued, "don't you think I'd keep the illusions up if I cared how I looked?" His voice hadn't wavered in the lie like he had worried it would.

"Whats wrong with that?" He asked, opening a box to check on the condition of the clock inside. "Clothes are a waste anyway, feels better wearing nothing at all." He made a note that the glass had cracked, then stood back and flexed his muscles, glancing at the famine horseman as he made his remark with a slight smirk. "I dunno, maybe you would. Or maybe you just use a bunch of bugs. Don' know how you can stand those disgusting things." God he hated them.
He didn't look over to Jay when he answered, because of course he would disagree. "I'd rather keep myself covered, thanks." Old habits die hard; he wasn't going to dress down unless he had to, and the most that was going to happen was short sleeves. Cargo pants were handy with all of those pockets, after all, when he couldn't be 'weird' by wearing too many layers in the Human World.
He told himself that it wasn't just because of his other scars and areas of decay. If he kept those covered, though, he didn't have to waste even more of his energy trying to keep the illusions of normalcy in place. Granted, that excuse only worked for him in the Human World as well... Yuki's brows drew down in an irritated expression, unseen as he focused on the newest box he'd opened. Damn that a*****e for saying something he'd actually dwell on.
At least there was a slight change in subject that he could leap on. "Bugs aren't that bad," Yuki replied in a tone that was only softly scolding. "For one, they are food for the birds. They don't just eat fruits and seed, you know." Jay could surely relate to that much. His clan lived in the trees, and he could only imagined they enjoyed the birds. They didn't rely on them like famine did insects, he knew, but perhaps a similar fondness was there.
Marking down the missing item on his form, he closed up the second set of dinnerware and continued to the next box.

There were four boxes, all of them holding stupid dinning sets. Except most of them had missing items. He sighed, amazed at the incompetence of whoever had been packing these boxes.
"Don't see why you're so keen to keep your clothes on." He commented as he looked in one box, writing on his sheet. 'Gravy boat missing'. "It's not like anyone would care what the ******** you look like." He noted another box was missing three forks. Why only three?! "Well I think you look ugly, but then all famine are ugly." And the next box had a missing spoon and butter knife. Seriously why were only those items missing, it pissed him off. He kicked at the box in frustration. "Though all the famine women go ga ga over your stupid hair. Don't know why " He didn't understand the appeal. "You probably have no muscle under all those clothes.
The final box was complete, which seemed like a miracle all things considered. "You know you just pointed out how weak bugs are compared to birds, meaning how weak famine is compared to war. But I already knew that, so." He wrote down some more notes.
Two large, but rather flat boxes were stacked on top of what Yuki could only imagine was the other two grandfather clocks. He opened these carefully as well, not wanting to imagine how valuable the tapestries inside were supposed to be.
He was actually silent as the other horseman rambled on, and with his back to him there wouldn't be any questions on why he was clenching his jaw so hard or why he looked so angry. What was worse was that even if the war horseman realized that he was pushing all the right buttons to upset him, it wouldn't make him stop. If anything it would urge him on.

Darkjay was oblivious to Yuki's anger, or the fact he had even angered him. watching the horseman from behind he just assumed he was busy with the boxes.
"Oy, you're still not done yet?" He called out as he checked the last box, noting it was labeled cavalry so he didn't have to do squat, finished off his notes and handed them in

Yuki honestly hoped that there were actually supposed to be two tapestries in the boxes, and maybe it was the number on the invoice that was wrong... Missing one from each box was probably quite a loss in profits. Still, he knew it needed to be marked down.
He discovered one cavalry box beside one of the grandfather clocks. The gouge in the clock's box made it hardly surprising that there had been damage to the item inside. For not standing them upright, he was surprised that the other looked to be fine. At least two of the three survived the idiocy of the part-timers... He called to them to move the box that wasn't his responsibility, glad that he could leave before he potentially witnessed them fail in that task somehow.
As the war horseman was returning to the docks, apparently just to make more jabs at him, Yuki just swept past him without a word to turn in his own form. He didn't say anything to him, did not return to the receiving dock and left immediately after completing the job.
