Kara had tossed a text to Cain to inform him that she'd be heading down to the shops, a casual request if he'd like to join her for shopping, or even heading into the human world. Her boots squeaked and slashed in the water, asymmetrical skirt fluttering around her legs. She was happy. Wasn't she always?
Friends, family, her clan, her duties. Wasn't she always happy here? Silver glinted and charms tolled like bells as she moved, checking her phone. Beneath the red light of the crystal as it pooled against the neon lights of the street and the Dusk's lighting, she felt... calm. Even though it'd been a day since the incident took place, things were starting to take a new routine.
But what was life, without it's unexpected turns?
She flicked her gaze up, still away from the rain inside the Dusk, looking towards the crystal that powered them with its FEAR, previously green and now a blinding red. It was... dimming? She squinted, staring up, up. Cracking, bit by bit, her eyes went wide as the scene registered in her mind. Just as the lights went out, and she began to cuss. More texts were sent to Cain, that she was still down by the front doors.
Where are you? Can you meet me down here? Everyone's freaking out and running around outside.
The longer she waited, the further time ticked on. Emergency back up lights flicked on, a text hitting her phone and making it chime out. Not Cain. She stared at it. Dorothy..? It didn't say.
It didn't take her long to read through the messages, even less time to find herself approached and given a grey crystal attached to an earring. To gather FEAR.
The Priestess was bristling, pacing as she waited for the Guardian, though it was her surprise and a level of amusement to find herself first approached by a War Chieftain. The grey crystal around his neck was all the sign she needed that he'd been caught up as well on the situation. "Will you be heading out to gather fear then?"

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY CHARACTER A rather short Death Priestess, her pale skin draped with silver and pale gems. She keeps her black hair mostly tied up in a loose braid or tail, though her bangs tend to slip out and drip around her face and shoulders. Feathers adorn her outfit beside layers of dark cloth. Her voice does not always fit the more somber appearance, bright and laughing, chiming like bells even as she scoffs and sneers.
"I aim to in a moment," he responded roughly to the Priestess, his wings pinned at his back as he stood otherwise in human appearance. The grey crystal hung below the cover of his scarf, boots--cowboy boots, he was told--clopping hard against the ground.
He'd been cleaning up, redressing after a few runs in the training obstacle course when the lights went out. Immediately he'd texted those he knew, among them Asahi, questioning if they were alright. Informing them he'd be heading out soon as able.
He'd not expected to be stopped and given a crystal, explained to that he needed to gather fear to power the building. Not that he objected. It was more to do, more to focus on. He was more than willing and capable, his body bristling and aching to fight. Work jobs, even. Anything. He needed to move, needed to tackle obstacles and push through. He'd been given an order, a directive. Collect energy. He was anxious to get started, to rush headlong into the objective.
But he found himself waiting for the Conquest Noble. Again and again his amber eyes flicked up and scanned the area, even as he looked down---really, really down. Why was she so short?--at the Death Priestess who seemed just as anxious to do something.
Why did she linger? Was she waiting for someone as well?
"Do you wait for your Guardian?" He watched with particular interest as she winced and averted her gaze. Not quite, she'd mumbled, his ears straining and barely catching the words. His eyes narrowed. "Do you have protection in the human world?" Her gaze turned to brittle ice as she flicked her attention back to him at that. Yes, and no. Nadir gave his broad shoulders a shrug. "I can assist if you would will it." He did not question her capabilities, but merely offered in a logical solution. Both wished to do more than stand around. It was a reasonable response.
Her expression was perplexed, but her small nod was answer enough. One matter settled. Again he looked about the room, scanning the hurried bodies searching for the green-haired stallion.

Cain was looking fondly over his Priestess as she moved ahead of him, they had both went back to the Rehab Center to look for what more information they could get. It had been a day now since they had woken up with no memory of days prior. But the Guardian held not really much interested since coming to terms with likely never knowing, but he was here for her. This was all fine, they were still together, his friends were ok and home was home. Cain didn't feel the need to keep pressing, not that he wasn't still curious, he had just settled into happiness.
As they moved his phone pinged in a familiar tone. The device was pulled up and messages read over with a small smile. It was hard though to respond at the moment since blues were trying to keep a steady gaze ahead on his Priestess. Kara would understand. Kara. Cain briefly thought of her mentioning the crystal being green before, that seemed like it could have been, he didn't honestly remember. He was aware that the crystal outside powered them by fear, which made sense, but that was about- wait. Had he touched the crystal. The guardians feet paused, thoughts getting mixed as he tried to remember.
"Fennete .." Cain called to the priestess ahead of him, trying to get her to wait. His feet moved more swiftly, carrying him closer towards the mare. Close enough he had her by the hand in seconds of calling her name. They had ended up by a window and it was then that Cain glanced out to see the crystal that plagued his memories. Staring at it as if lost, expressions blanked as eyes ran over the very thing that powered where they lived. Cain's eyes snapped wide, the crystal had dulled! It was...cracking- as soon as the red light in his head went off the lights went out. Cain's fingers tightened around Fennete's and pulled her close for protection, arms fully around her in the darkness. "Wait.." He instructed in a soft tone that was meant to keep her calm.
Inside though Cain was even in a panic, what was happening! What would they do...
His phone exploded in several jingles that pulled for him to take action. One hand remained tightly holding Fennete as the other opened and looked over Kara's text. This was one of the few times he wished he could be in two places at once. But Kara was a strong mare, she would be fine until he could get to her. Carefully he tried to respond back to his friend,
I'll be there soon. Stay still.
"Fennete."
As soon as he spoke the lights finally flicker on again, but they were dim and red. But that seemed normal, it made him a little less tense even. Slowly he relaxed and read over the new messages that poured in. Alright, that seemed doable, but first he had to go find his friends. A colourless grey crystal necklace was handed over to him and Cain put it around neck, waited for Fennete to choice hers then suggested softly, "let's meet up with friends. Another Death clan would mean getting power back sooner." Gently he tried to guide her out of the dim area and to where Kara would be waiting.
They could do this together. They could.

Asahi had been doing a lot of thinking lately and a lot of it had to do, either directly or indirectly, with the recent memory loss everyone had suffered. He had delved into his memories a few different times to see where any holes were and while he knew something was missing here and there he didn't think anything of importance was truly missing. Not that he could really tell one way or another if something really was he supposed.
When he thought about belonging here in the Dusk it would envoke different snaps of memories of faces, or different people he knew in some form or fashion so he didn't think anyone was missing from that. Asking himself if he was happy with that would just go round and round in circles for a bit before he would settle on yes, yes he was.
And even if he tried to think about anything that happened yesterday, something he tried every so often to see if he remembered anything new, all he could think of was just rumors about the crystal's color change. Though there seemed to be something out of reach, just out of remembrance.
Before he could really get a grasp on that thought however the lights went out. He stood still for a moment then moved to a window to look outside, and to his surprise he saw the fear crystal, the very thing that powered the tower, had dulled and cracked. He waited to see what would happen though he could hear other's panic around him and was rewarded for his patience by his phone flashing with some texts from someone unknown explaining the situation. Once he was finished reading through those he noticed he got one from Nadir as well. He quickly sent back the Chieftain an update of his own to let him know he was fine and would join him in heading out, that he would be there shortly. Just after that was sent he shot Cain a message asking if the other stallion and Fennete were alright, not bothering to send her one at the same time since he figured it was likely they were together.
One his way out of the tower he was stopped and given an empty fear crystal earring so he could collect fear to help power the tower. He had no problem with that. It would help his clan to do so and all he had to do was continue doing his job. Those thoughts paused for a bit when he got out front and spotted Nadir standing with and unfamiliar Priestess. He quickly moved over to the two and eyed the stallion to see if he was indeed alright like his text had said. "So, that happened. I guess we are going to be busy trying to collect more fear for a while." He said then gave them both a smile and gave a nod of greeting to the Priestess. "I'm Asahi, Noble of Conquest." That said his eyes darted back over to Nadir, this time to take in the other's outfit.

It was no use. Those Famine Sages at the hospital just kept going on and on about having no control over the memory rehabilitation process when Fenette and Cain made a trip there to ask about the missing memory of the day before yesterday's memories. Fenette sighed quietly to herself as she walked ahead of Cain, lost in her own thoughts for the moment. I
t was alright, in the grand scheme of things, she supposed. The rest of the memories about her past, the other horsemen she knew and her duties here on The Dusk were still intact after all. It wasn't as if missing an entire day of memories would kill her. For that, Fenette should be content. Only that she wasn't as the Priestess couldn't quite shake off the feeling that she was missing something terribly important whenever she looked at the crystal.
She stopped when she heard Cain call out to her, turning to smile at him as she too glanced up at the crystal and then saw the cracks that had appeared at its base.
Oh no.
Before she could do anything else however, the lights suddenly went out and she felt someone pull her close to wrap arms around her in a protective embrace. Cain. The Guardian was always a step ahead of her in knowing what to do at times like this.
"Ok."
This had never happened before to The Dusk. First the crystal breaking then the power outage. What was going to happen to them and their home now? It wasn't long till the lights came back on again though they were all dim and red as if to remind all of them of the state of emergency that the crystal was in.
Retrieving her phone from her pocket to read the messages that had come in, Fenette gave a frown. This was certainly worrying. There was a flurry of activities around both her and Cain now as all the other horsemen grabbed for themselves a crystal necklace, bracelet or earring that were being handed out before making their way to the nearest working portal to the Human World to start collecting the fear that they needed.
Picking out a crystal necklace to match the one that Cain had, Fenette turned to him and nodded. "Ok." She might not have any friends of her own to speak of given her extremely limited social circle but she wasn't opposed to meeting these friends that Cain brought up.
They could accomplish more if they worked together after all.
