He waited patiently outside of the large, ominous looking doors as his large, fluffy tail continued to sweep across the cold marble flooring of the Negaverse Castle.
It had taken time for both of them to recover from the ordeal with the Eternal Senshi of Butchness. Bob's injuries were scratches compared to the hospital stay that Aurora had been forced to endure - and for that, Bob was still finding it difficult to forgive himself over. If he hadn't said those things, made her feel like she was being challenged...
But it didn't matter. He'd snuck his way into her hospital room and remained by her side throughout the duration of her stay, even going so far as to sneaking back in and lingering in the dresser drawer after one particularly ornery nurse had literally thrown him out by the scruff of his neck after finding him in bed with a patient.
There had been a matter in need of addressing, but he'd waited until after she'd healed to discuss it with her. Although he loathed the fact that she was, in her own way, right about being a strong senshi.... she was, in fact, right.
The only problem was, the potential he'd seen during their fight was locked up inside of her, unable to escape without a little help from a powerful assistance. Which was why now, after finding them both a lift to the Negaspace, he'd offered his findings to one of the less annoying General Sovereigns and presented his case. Sailor Hydra was so much more than Sailor Hydra and she needed the help to reach that potential that he'd felt.
Unfortunately, he was not privy to the discussion going on inside of the room, locked out like a lower class citizen.
Hmph.

Staying in the hospital had been awful.
First, her father had been called and he was furious that she had gotten into a situation that left her injured enough that she had an extended hospital stay as she recuperated. There were broken ribs, a concussion and a number of other things. Very few people had visited her while she was there, but one had never left her and she had only managed to sleep better when the orange maine coon was snuggled up against her.
In the end, when she was finally released and her father warned her that if she ever scared him like that again...
At Bob's urging, she had met with one of the general sovereigns, looking for the means of a power upgrade. Her potential had to be unlocked directly by Queen Laurelite, before she had risen to regency, when she was first inducted and it made sense to her to seek more power the same way.
Bob told her that the potential was inside her, that she was ready.
Maybe if she truly was, the fight with the tall amazonian woman would have gone differently. Despite Bob vouching for her and presenting a case, Hydra had to present one of her own too and by the time she was released from the meeting, she looked exhausted. While mostly healed, she wasn't in proper shape quite yet.
"Okay," she sighed, carefully closing the office door behind her and finding the cat among those that wandered about. Her fuku looked a little different, another layer added to her skirt, boots a little different. In her hand was her henshin pen and she looked down at her feline companion, swaying a little.
"They said you needed to do something about this?"

He knew she was exhausted - it was easy to tell from her face. Hydra wasn't fully herself yet, probably requiring at least a couple more weeks of rest before she'd be fully restored.
However, that didn't stop the overly large cat from standing up at attention as the Super senshi made her way into the lobby, his tail rising as he scrambled to stand on all four paws.
"Baby girl!" It was hard to hide the excitement in his usually laid back voice... so he didn't bother trying. "Look at you! You're a Super Senshi!"
The urge to pounce directly into the girl's arms was strong, but only a few people could really tolerate having a twenty-something pound cat jump up on them. So instead, claws scrambled across polished flooring as he made his way to her new, fancy boots and began to purr loudly, pressing his head and body against the black and teal fabric as he began weaving in and out of her legs. "I knew they'd see it. I knew I wasn't wrong. You were ready - you are ready... just look at you!!!"
He was beaming proudly up at her from his view four feet below her. His tail was gently brushing against her leg as he eyed the pen she'd gestured towards.
"Yeah! I can help with that - it would be my pleasure, sweet cheeks." His front paws spread apart and he gave her a grin. "Ready to see a magic trick??"

Despite the way she ached and how badly she wanted to go home and collapse into her bed, Hydra couldn't help but feel Bob's excitement lifting her spirits. "Yeah," she laughed, wincing as it jostled her still recovering ribs. "I'm a super."
She knew that she ought to be more excited and pumped than she was that she had received a promotion, but her joy only came from seeing how proud Bob was. Hydra wondered if Obsidian would be proud too or if he would be disappointed that she had to be rescued because she hadn't been strong enough on her own and had to limp back to the General-Sovereigns and ask for more strength.
Squatting, the newly minted super reached a hand out to scratch her furry companion behind the ears, running her gloved fingers along his back before offering the pen to him. "I think a magic trick sounds pretty great right now."
It's not like she would have been able to tell him no anyway, not with how clearly excited he was about it all.

Leaning down, he gripped the pen between his teeth before spinning around and taking a few steps back, mindful of her proximity to him. Last thing he wanted to do was hurt her any further - poor girl, she looked about ready to fall over as it was.
BUT... it was still time to celebrate. This was a happy occasion for a change and Bob couldn't feel any prouder of his little senshi charge.
"I don't do flips for just anyone, y'know," He told her, feeling smarmy. The words were fairly incoherent, however, with the henshin pen still lodged in his teeth.
Tossing his head back, the pen went flying as the large Maine Coon pushed off the floor and did a somersault, the pen emitting a sharp, bright glow that, for a second, was too blinding to keep one's eye on. As his paws landed with a heavy thud, the pen clattered to the ground.
Instead of retrieving it with his mouth, however, lanky, gangly white fingers plucked it up as a tall man with wild, unkempt red hair knelt down to retrieve the upgraded pen. Rising from his spot, the catman approached the senshi - it was still very strange for him to be looking down on her instead of gazing up from a foot off the ground.
With a flourish, the pen was presented to the senshi in the palm of his hand, the young man dipping down slightly enough that the raggedy tie on his naked chest bobbed from the sudden motion.
"Super Hydra, may I present... your new henshin pen."

Hydra couldn't remember ever witnessing a cat doing it's special thing when it came to producing henshin pens or upgrading them. In truth, she couldn't even remember how she had gotten her pen at all. A lot hadn't been properly explained when she was first brought into the folds of Metallia's army, but she had also been the only senshi on Aurostibite's team, before she transferred to Obsidian's.
She was the only one on his as well.
Sometimes, that made for a lonely Sailor Hydra.
Still, watching the grand spectacular show that Bob was putting on just for her was a sight to truly behold and she couldn't suppress her gasp even as she had to avert her gaze.
Happy laughter spilled from her lips when he shifted from cat to human and forced her to look up at him. "Bob," she gasped, finally being able to see him in all his furless glory. "How long have you been able to do that?"
She didn't remember him shifting when she was hurt because she'd fallen unconscious shortly after he fled with his young charge.
Gingerly she accepted the pen and pressed it close to her chest. The smile on her face was a sad one as she stretched on her tip toes to kiss his cheek. "Thank you."

He hesitated, slightly confused.
Ah, right. She hadn't been awake when he'd set her outside of the ER on the hospital's bench for the nearby medics to find. Right.
"It's a rather new development, actually." His grin was sly as he pulled his hand back, both arms moving behind him as he rocked on the back of his heels. "It seems that my own powers were spurned on when a certain sweetheart of mine found herself in a bit of trouble."
Phrasing it as lightly as he could, Bob was quick to change the subject as he knew it was still quite a sore spot, as far as their conversations went.
"I've yet to... figure out a lot of human things, but if you think you wouldn--"
He paused as she leaned up to kiss him, the feeling an odd one. Hydra had kissed him often (really, who could resist a charming cat like himself?) but this kiss felt different, lips pressing against his furless cheek as opposed to the endless fluff that covered him. One hand moved up to gently rub against the spot - this human business was going to take some getting used to, for sure.
Hydra's expression wasn't lost on the tall man, however. Hands moved from behind his back and took hold of both of hers, squeezing gently. Another new feeling. He had a feeling he'd be on the receiving end of a lot of new feelings, the more he sprouted his human legs out.
"What's wrong, baby girl? Aren't you happy?"

Jade eyes widened and suddenly the girl was looking down, embarrassed still about everything that had happened. "Well, you're still as handsome as ever," she complimented, gloved hands reaching out to adjust his vest. "You'll catch your death running around like that in winter though." So much of him was exposed. Most of his chest and his feet were bare.
"Can you do that - this often?" She asked, stepping back and away so she should tip her head back and look at him.
She had never seen a cat shift forms and was struggling to understand how it was possible. But then again, she didn't understand why her hair was impossibly long when powered when it was only mid-back length in her every day look.
"I - " she hesitated, offering Bob a tired smile. "I am, I promise." She was just struggling with how badly she had to fail before the decided to pity her and promote her. "Don't worry, I'm just a little tired." Not a complete lie at least. "We should get something to eat, I don't - can you be like that out there?" She meant in the city.

He preened at her compliment, standing up straight and tall as she examined his raggedy, worn out looking outfit. Bob wasn't sure who in the vast Cosmos exactly made the decisions when it came to wardrobe for Mauvians, but they at least had the decency to leave him wearing his tie. The rest was suspiciously plain - then again, did it really matter? He had fingers! He had toes! He had skin and he could reach cabinets and actually open fridge doors and...
He stared at her blankly as she asked her next question. "I can do it whenever, but..."
Tall ears folded downwards as his shoulders slumped forward. The bushy, oversized tail that had been waving from side to side had sunk the same moment his ears did.
"I... don't think it would be wise, baby girl. The vibe we give off... er."
One clawed hand rose and waved halfheartedly as he sighed. "It's strong. Really strong. I'm scared I'd be a magnet for anyone with nefarious intentions towards us, so..."
Talk about a bubble burst.
"Sorry, sweetheart. I..."
Shaking his head, he sighed and began to shrink. It took all of seconds for the human to morph back into his large, hairy cat form but when emerald eyes reopened, he'd returned to the Bob she'd always known and pampered.
Moving to rub against her boot, his voice sounded forcibly cheerful. "We can grab some grub, if you'd like. You get to choose - it's your big day, after all."

Hydra managed to have a look of marvel on her face as she looked up at the much taller cat. Her slightly strained smile faltered when his ears flattened and his body language suggested he was afraid of disappoint her in a way that had her brow furrowing. "Bob," she said gently, lifting her hand and pressing it against the part of his vest that covered where she thought his heart might sit, though she was probably too low to be in the right place. "That's okay."
Beneath her palm she watched him shift back into the feline companion she knew and loved. Kneeling she spread her arms, fully expecting the orange cat to step into them so she could hug him properly. "I like spending time with you no matter what form you're in."
Sure, it might've been nice to have a patrol buddy who had human arms and legs, but she wouldn't trade her favorite cat for anything.
"You're still my cat and it's not like we can come back, here, where it's safe." From the White Moon at least. "We'll just grab something on the way home, okay?"

Paws lifted up to grasp hold of her shoulders, allowing the Super Senshi to lift him up into her arms. While being human was by far the most delightful thing he'd ever been gifted, Bob was comfortable in his furry skin - it felt more like home, being treated like a beloved house cat.
Not that he was some fat and lazy house cat, of course!!!!
His head leaned in and he nuzzled against her cheek affectionately. As far as kids went, Rory - or Hydra, either - wasn't a bad apple. She treated him with more respect than most of the other Negas he'd stumbled across during his time in Destiny City, so he felt that it was his duty to keep a careful eye on the young, naive gal. S'what Guardian Cats were supposed to be about anyways, right?
Curling back into her arms, he seemed fairly content with his lot in life.
"Especially since you can teleport now," Eyebrows wiggled - he hadn't thought about it until now, but this did mean that Hydra could now be utilized as a free ride to places! "So why don't you pick a joint and I'll let you know what's good there."
Dumpster connoisseur, at your service.

Bob was a bit heavy for her weary body, but she made it a point to hide the strain of holding the cat. She knew he was already worried about her and she was fine, for all of her quietness. She had been promoted, Bob was excited, he could go human even if it was for short periods of time, so there was no reason for her to feel so down.
Yet, she did.
But she didn't want to talk about it, so she mustered up her strength and put on her best face. "That's definitely a bonus. It'll - " she trailed off, realizing she was about to talk about the incident and she really wanted to put that behind her rather than continue to hold on to it. "It'll make things easier sometimes."
Kissing the top of the cat's head, Hydra focused on a place and tested out her new teleporting abilities.
