[ JOB LISTING ] Junior Ambassador [ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_stargaia_star [ TASK ] Introduce human visitors to the less...visceral aspects of you clan's culture. Have them leave with both a pleasant impression and a nice souvenir
Quote:
The Clans have moved forward from their traditional roots in many ways to better infiltrate and influence the human world. However, these traditions are not something to be simply tossed away and forgotten, but rather cherished and occasionally shared with outsiders.
Your horseman has been selected to show off one of the human-friendly aspects of their clan's culture. In traditional clothing, they'll be expected to introduce a small group of humans. It can be a class or demonstration, a display or lecture of sorts.

No rolls needed.
You can choose to focus on what they teach or simply handwave that and focus on any troubles or successes your character has with the group instead. If you'd like detailed information to draw on, this is a link to horseman job classes, the canon tower, and the spoilers in this post include many many classes that involve each clans culture before the islands were destroyed.

Terr was not looking forward to this task. He did not enjoy social activities and he did not appreciate humans. But this was expected of him so he was going to suck it up and complete it to the best of his ability. The only silver lining to this task was that he had someone to help him with the class.
He wished it could have been a certain Guardian whom he was sure would make for a fantastic teacher, but a fellow Jewelry Maker was a good alternative. That he'd met him before was also a bonus. There wasn't any need for awkward introductions to each other at least.
The class on the other hand, "Welcome to basic jewelry crafting. I am Terr." He glanced over to his co-teacher to introduce himself.
Terr Death Horseman; Jeweler The Hermit Arcana (Group C) Journal - 6"0 tall - Workaholic - Stoic on the outside, geek on the inside - Tendency to forget to eat/sleep/bathe when working
To further polish his aesthetic sense over the modern style, Cae thought taking a part-time job that he could come into contact with humans would be the best way. He had no preferences towards the type and difficulty for the job and surprisingly the job center assigned him to the Embassy. As its name suggested, his performance as a worker there would be judged not only as individual, but his clan and even the horsemen as a whole.
"Ah...What a trouble I get myself into..." He said with a shrug sarcastically as he walked towards his partner before the class. Well, at least he could comfort himself he got some luck on his partner and they got to wear their original clothes. Terr shared the same job as him, so the discussion of what to talk about went smooth. Both agreed to introduce the basis of jewelcrafting, something about their clan at the same time avoiding the core.
There the lecture started, Cae followed after Terr introduce himself. "I'm Cae, Terr and I are both jewelcrafters from the Death Clan. We're gonna tell you something about what we do." In contrast to Terr, he gave his audience a lukewarm smile and nudged his fellow by elbow.
No kidding, they had talked about the possibility of spies hiding in the crowd. They were the Death clan, they didn't provoke fights like the War. Not that they were afraid of the hunters. If the Embassy worked on a surfacial harmony, they had to keep their threat at minimal in the eyes of those accessing in the dark.
Their true nature of merciless and stoicism shall be veiled well just this time, he had to remind his partner about it.

Terr did not give their audience a smile unlike his co-teacher. He simply maintained the dead-pan expression that could mean anything from exhaustion, fatigue, disinterest, or wishing he was anywhere but there. They went through some simple shaping and forming, essentially techniques that could be done with simple materials and wherein the end results had little to nothing to do with their core ability.
"We'll be handing out some materials so you can do these techniques on your own," he said in monotone. "Feel free to work in pairs, or on your own, whichever you think is best. You all have an hour. If you have questions, save it for the end of the practical hands-on."
And with that he moved to stand beside Cae. From the corner of his mouth he murmured to his fellow jeweler "This cannot end soon enough."
It seemed his fellow wasn't quite used to talk in public, Terr was even stiffer than the time he talked to them. Cae sighed lightly, thinking that might be a good opportunity for the jewelcrafter to have more communication with others. Honest speaking, he felt Terr the typical indoor type, the exact opposite of him.
Well, it might be a good thing he was there. While the crowd began to work and experience those techniques on the resin they provided - of course they won't let amateur touch precious metals or minerals - Cae turned to his fellow and gave him some supportive pat on his shoulder. "Easy easy," he soothed, "At least it won't be as exhausting as fighting a hunter." He told an amusing joke that didn't help with the situation at all.
"We should check their progresses I guess, I don't want to see troubles occur during this. Humans are too fragile, they could hurt themselves easily. And - if that happens here, we'll be in big trouble." He took a look at the clock hanging on the wall, "Just an hour and thirty minutes more, come on Terr, you can do it."
He tried to encourage his low morale comrade, "We can have a relaxing drink after this."

Terr understood the joke, he wasn't entirely socially awkward and he tried to return the jest with "I rely on my Guardian friend's assistance when dealing with hunters." Unfortunately he answered it in a completely serious manner. Granted it wasn't entirely a joke, he did lean on a certain Guardian for protection.
However he arched a brow at Cae, "I've provided them with gloves and goggles to protect their fragile human bodies. None of the material is even laced with FEAR, and if there are any it's in such minute quantities as to be negligible. Surely any experienced jeweler would know that, wouldn't they?"
At the invitation for a drink he titled his head, ever so slightly, "I do not need a drink to comfort me for a tedious task but if you wish for my company while you have yours, I will not object."
He really would have prefered to stand there, watching and judging from a distance. But Terr supposed they should make a show of being proper teachers and do some rounds. He even went so far as to quietly, in that bland monotone of his, give some suggestions in the manner of handling the material.
"Hmm, A Guardian friend," Cae drawled, wondered if they could be someone he knew when he was still a guardian. He wiggled a finger at Terr after his opinion over safety. "There's something called accident, don't underestimate their - I would call clumsiness." Then came a quick snort, "Nah, don't be silly. Human resins don't contain any FEAR themselves."
Good news, Terr wasn't completely indoor, that eased his worries. He chuckled at his fellow's seriousness. "Only losers drink to comfort themselves okay. Drinking is an enjoyment, something to reward yourself and it gives the best effect when you're with your friends. Deal?" He pushed forward a fist bump, waiting for Terr.
Anyway, the lecture went quite smooth and thirty minutes had passed. He answered some questions with a lukewarm smile and guided those who seemed to take a wrong direction. Something went wrong when some young human females called him when they didn't have any problem.

The idea of human resin having FEAR was something Terr wished was a reality. It would have made them tolerable in the Death Horseman's eyes. And he supposed Cae had a point. Who knew what failures humans were capable of it was no wonder they needed the Horsemen's guidance to continue on with their lives.
The proffered fist bump was met with staring at first. Terr appreciated the sentiment and his fellow Jeweler's attempt at forging a deeper connection between them. Most Horsemen would have walked away or began ignoring him and his less than enthusiastic demeanor by now. So he tried to return the gesture. Tried being the operative word here.
"Deal, I believe," he said, still monotone despite the awkwardness of his handshake-bump-pat.
And it wasn't long before the class was being dismissed and were allowed to take home the terrible crackerjack jewelry they made. Some, Terr admitted, showed promise in terms of skill and technique and some also seemed to have a good eye for design. You know, for a human.
