Aeseir put a hand against the glass, looking down at the people scuttling to and fro. The employees could be distinguished from the customers by their purposeful stride; many went directly to their destination rather than taking the slow, ponderous routes of visitors. Everything about this company seemed to speak of refinement, and she felt a sense of pride that it was run by Horsemen. They had been left behind, but they did not stay there; many of their number of quickly adapted to—even flourished under—modernization.
She returned her attention to the sales floor, straightening her posture when a customer approached. The problem was simple enough, but she told them it’d take a day and cost barely short of an arm, just the way PHE liked, and she took the money with a smile. When the customer left, she spent half an hour making the appropriate changes, marked the device for pickup, and waited for her next customer.

The next customer came with a television so outdated she was surprised it fit through the door. She rushed to help the customer lift it onto the table and with a cool eye (and a discreet hand on her phone’s Google function) she examined the cables and made the necessary corrections. The work was ultimately rendered unnecessary when the customer opted to purchase a new television instead, but she still got paid and she learned how to fix an old telly, too. When the customer left, the smile on her face was genuine.
