█ BACKGROUND
You know the great thing about being a psychic? Everyone wants to be your friend. I mean, people don't want to stick around and stay married to you when they realize you've been mentally reprogramming them to love you for the past several years, but otherwise? Awesome. His mothers mistake was assuming she could keep up that kind of mental facade for years without a hitch. Peoples brains are weirdly rebellious things when it comes to emotions. As soon as Logans dad (a pretty upstanding human citizen named Luke) got suspicious to buy an anti-psychic enchant to get a little privacy from his wife, everything came unraveled. He discovered her years of manipulation, stalking, shoehorning him into marriage with a kid... the whole ordeal. Lucille had been obsessed with him for years. Ever since they met in high school, in fact. Well his dad booked outta Saxon faster than you could say 'nope.' Divorce papers took years to force Lucille to sign, and eventually his dad disappeared overseas to evade child support for the kid he'd never wanted with the woman he'd never loved.
If the stalking, reprogramming, manipulation and all that didn't give it away, Lucille wasn't a terribly stable woman. So when Luke left her, she kind of went to pieces. The way a lot of nearly middle-aged women do, by drinking herself to death. Literally. It took a few years, of course. Logan was only five or six when his dad got the hell out of dodge, and his mother drank her way through Logans elementary school years until she finally kicked the bucket around the time Logan turned ten. He was then sent to be rehomed to his loving family, a lonely uncle who wanted kids but had just never found the right woman.
Yeah, right.
Let's just say that alcoholism ran in the family, and a temper ran in his uncle, and his uncles fat a** didn't run anywhere. That was Logans job. It wasn't as if he was terribly abused or anything, it was just that Logan had to do everything himself. And everything for his uncle, too. That included taking messages and passing notes and packages to shady dudes who came creeping around after dark. The good news was that the young psychic learned a lot of practical skills from a young age; how to cook and clean, how to do laundry, mend clothes, pick up after himself, and how to manipulate his fatass uncles brain to fall asleep when he got too annoying. Later, he taught his uncle other commands like 'shut the ******** up.' Having a mute button on annoying adults is basically every kids dream. And unlike his poor dead mother, his uncle was just a stupid electric mage who used his powers to flip channels on the television when he lost the remote in his sweaty fat folds. So he was all but powerless against Logan as he grew older, smarter, and more clever in using his powers to his benefit. Soon enough, his uncle was the one taking orders from him, so he basically had free reign. He could do whatever the ******** he wanted.
This is the part where we get back to the point - everyone wants to be your friend when you're a psychic. Because you do what you want, and you get what you want, and they know you can get them whatever they want, too. As long as they stay on your good side, of course! It started out small. Some of the guys his uncle had him running junk to liked his party trick of putting people to sleep mid-step as they hurried down the sidewalk on their way to work. Or how he could make store clerks and cameras turn away from them so they could just pluck whatever they wanted out of the shelves. Oh, paying the tab for the food we ate? We already did that, don't you remember? Ha, ha, ha. Great fun. Unfortunately, doing that s**t nonstop is kind of the sort of thing people tend to notice, and Logan had never really considered making people forget who he was. The pattern was a classic case of psychic abuse of power. Cops see it all the time.
So, Logan went to juvie. He'll tell you he went five times and broke out once, but the truth is he went to Juvenile rehabilitative services twice, and got out on good behavior for being 'reformed' twice. By the time he dropped out of high school as a teenager, he was supporting himself off of his Uncles disability checks and running 'favors' for his 'friends.' He met a girl named Tessa who he swore up and down he was gonna get married to, even got her name tattooed on his arm (she didn't want to get a matching one, but only because she's afraid of needles). Things were great. Except, turns out, after you turn eighteen they don't throw you in Juvie. They throw you in prison. Especially when they catch you red-handed with several kilos of what is apparently a highly dangerous and illegal compound. turns out the 'I'm holding it for a friend' defense doesn't actually fly well in court.
But whatever. It's not a big deal. Tess is gonna wait for him on the outside. He'll serve his stupid two-year sentence and find a way to pay the fines and court fees. I mean really, how different from Juvie can prison really be?
Ha. Ha. Ha.
█ ABILITIES
▬ MENTAL REMOTE
Logan practiced giving psychic commands and suggestions more than anything else, having his uncle as a guinea pig. His favorite party trick is putting people to sleep from a distance and watching them fall on their faces. He's best with simple suggestions - hard orders are more difficult. What he's really doing is making people feel more one way or another, tipping those different emotional levers to get the desired result. He tricks peoples brains into thinking 'I want to do this' strongly enough that they just do it on their own. It's much more difficult to pull off when someone is aware of what he's doing. He can also cause people to believe they're experiencing phantom pains and sensations that aren't really there, but nothing really extreme.
▬ MIND LINK
He is capable of hearing thoughts, sending messages, and delving into memories telepathically, however this is more difficult for him. The more he practices speaking silently with one person, the more easily he can do it. At first, he requires physical contact even to send out basic thoughts and messages, much less receive them. But with practice, he can communicate up to fifty feet away. At least, that's his record right now. But with each new person he has to start from touching and practice up again. He absolutely must be in physical contact in order to see memories (it's easiest if their foreheads are touching), but all he can do is watch them - he's incapable of editing or altering memories, only current feelings and emotions (and thoughts, sometimes).
▬ TELEKINESIS
Logan loves juggling s**t telekinetically, but it's more of a hobby than anything. He can't restrain people, or move objects any heavier than himself. But he can slam doors behind people for dramatic effect.
▬ HABLA ESPAÑOL
Logan, oddly, speaks a great deal of spanish, since his friend Marco started teaching him when he was thirteen. While his grammar isn't great, he picked it up fairly quickly, and spoke it frequently with Marco and a few other ghouls and ghost gangsters who moved product, so he's very fluent. Granted, it's mostly street slang.
█ EXTRA
-- He insists that his girlfriend, Tessa, is waiting for him on the outside. He doesn't realize that Tessa ran off with a biker from Toledo three weeks after he was sentenced.
