[ JOB LISTING ] Treatment Center
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] Aid spa specialists in their innovative treatments by helping handle and feed the wholly organic swarms of healthful helpers provided by nature in all its mystery. (Warning : Insect & Worm Prompts)

Quote:

The human staff has gone tragically missing, but all new ventures are bound for a few hiccups. The treatment keepers have taken to pulling in any idle horsemen found at the spa or even in the Dusk to come spend a shift helping feed and care for the spa's special swarms of cultivated insects and unusual plant life.

Roll 2d6 and complete the 2 prompts
  1. You're set to supervise a tank full of leeches. It's an incredibly boring job until the leeches begin to grow. And grow. And grow until they're the size of a fat man's leg. The tank breaks. They're surprisingly fast and wily for leeches and it's up to you to catch and corral them all. Roll 1d10 until you succeed by getting a 6 or higher.
  2. The Moth Room needs cleaning and it's not a very glorious or interesting job until you start to hallucinate and the walls begin to melt.
  3. The Music Room allows you to enjoy a peaceful shift feeding its inhabitants as they are trained in their next composition.
  4. The tapeworms need to be taken for discreet walkies. This process involves placing leashes and collars on tapeworms and then walking them around, whispering encouragements to help motivate them to be their best wormselves. Roll 1d10 until you succeed three times by getting a 3 or higher.
  5. The Nagev Garden is full of helpful plants that wont just melt away fat but also clean the bones underneath as well with an enthusiastic efficiency! Feeding them is a pleasure if you life watching meat get torn apart and some of the plants will even let you pet them after. Roll 1d4 to determine how many fingers you lose during this shift. (Don't worry, they'll grow back by tomorrow.)
  6. The maggot farm has gone missing and the spa needs your help in finding out where it's gone off to. Was it stolen? Did their Fear Makeup get altered in an experiment, transforming them into something new? Did something eat the whole thing? You don't have to roll for success, you just have to tell a story to the shift supervisor.

Offered a wholly unique job 'babysitting' certain insects, Vania was given a special opportunity feeding bugs as they trained for their next composition, and it wasn't long before she found herself listening and nodding along.

When the inhabitants started up, it was just noise... until more joined in, and Vania realized that the noises had clashed together to create music.

It was a fairly simple song, soothing and seeming to calm her after her last job. It was the right tempo, with lighthearted notes that burst in different pitches, not too high, but not too low.

It was... nice.

Even for a War Horseman.

The song came to an end, and Vania blinked abruptly, breathing in and realizing that this part of her shift was over.

It was a shame - she'd wanted to stay and see what other songs they had in their repertoire.

The second room was full of a tank of leeches, which was almost as relatively boring as the last room, except... there was no music to accompany this one.

Vania found a chair and sat in it, drawing up her wings and folding them around herself, leaning on her hand.

She watched the leeches bob up and down in the water, starting to zone out until the tank actually broke, and water splashed everywhere as the large leeches started zooming around the room.

When had they gotten that big!?

What the heck!

All she could do was stare for a good solid few seconds, her mind trying to comprehend what had just happened.

Leaping off of the chair, Vania launched herself at the leeches, jerking as they zoomed by her in a swarm.

The first time, she missed.

The second time, she was ready for them, and grabbed a few leeches to corral them -- fortunately for her, there was a second, reinforced tank that she could throw them into... and she grabbed a hose to fill the tank with water as she grabbed the rest of the leeches and threw them in to join.

Finally finished with the task, she sat on the chair to catch her breath, holding her head.

Why hadn't they used the reinforced tank in the first place!? That was just poor planning on their part.

Now, it didn't really matter. What was done, was done, and her job was over, thankfully.

Rising from her chair, she gave a last look at the leeches in the tank, raising an eyebrow at them zooming around in the water in the reinforced tank.

Wait... were they racing? Was that why she wasn't able to catch them earlier? Was this just a game to them?

Jeez. Maybe they were just stir crazy.

Whatever. It wasn't her problem anymore.

Sighing, she went to tell the people in charge what had happened and what had been done, and they didn't seem too surprised by what had been achieved.

Vania walked by the music room one more time, smiling at the song that they were practicing again before collecting her pay and turning to leave.

It was a decent job -- and one she might even return to.
