[ TASK ] The key word here is Assistant. You will be helping with the front of house operations and other minor tasks. Roll 2d4. The first die chooses the task for the day, the second die is the 'event'. RP accordingly! Events can be major or minor, it is up to you. (If I roll 2,4, then I have task 2, and the 4 dictates my event.)
Adelaide would like you to watch the front of house. It's not terribly difficult, as customers usually just come in to browse and - Oh, no. That woman over there isn't watching her three children and they've decided to play tag among the priceless, delicate displays. Event: If your second dice is odd the children nearly break a vase. If it is even they pull a tapestry off the wall.
"Here is the duster. This cleaner is for glass, this one for the shelves." As the newest member of the team, the tedious task of dusting everything in the main gallery falls to you. Try not to break anything, and remember: Adelaide is looking for a streak-free shine! Event: If your second dice is odd you have trouble with some greasy fingerprints on glass. If it is even Adelaide isn't pleased with your work and asks you to do it again (just rp no rolling!)
Coffee run! Adelaide is requesting one mid-sized cafe mocha, extra chocolate and whipped cream, as well as six other drinks for various staff and clients. Her favourite coffee place is two blocks down the street. "Oh, and don't forget a half dozen of their triple-chocolate muffins." Event: If your second die is odd the coffee shop clerk gives you too much change. If it is even the coffee shop clerk winks at you, slipping an extra muffin into the to-go bag.
Unloading duty. A shipment has arrived and your job is to help unload the truck. There are 20 wooden crates, weighing anything from 2 pounds to as much as you. Event: If your second dice is odd as your reach for a box a large rat crawls out the box and up your arm. If it is even nearly all of the boxes are very heavy.
"Erm..?" Nox's amber gaze narrowed on the woman in front of him as she passed off a small armload of cleaning supplies to him. He felt compelled to inform her that he was really more talented a horseman than to just be burdened with the small task of cleaning, but one look around him at the likely more experienced workers in the area made him bite his tongue. He was the newest, and younger than many already here. So that lent itself to doing gruntwork. It wasn't especially rewarding, save for that he actually did make a bit of money.
Nox had an interest in art (if not weapons), so he'd assumed that maybe someplace like this could at least be interesting enough to keep him entertained for a few hours at a time... But cleaning was dull.
Once Adelaide had left him to his work, Nox allowed himself a grimace. "Lame," he griped softly to himself, picking up a rag and setting himself to scrubbing down the nearest window. A part of him wanted to complain. He could do so much more, but really, this probably would've been the starting point for anywhere he applied to. It was just gruntwork, but he was an inexperienced, untried grunt. What else could he expect?
Feeling only slightly dejected, Nox almost didn't notice when the smears from the inside (who in here would even touch the windows to begin with?) seemed to not be disappearing. Also not surprising, since he could think of some with especially gross, grimy fingers. With his grimace morphing into a full-blown scowl, Nox scrubbed with his tiny, skinny arms, using all the force he could muster to clean a simple smudge from an antique window pane.
