Embassy of the Final Islands

[ JOB LISTING ] Junior Ambassador
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] Introduce human visitors to the less...visceral aspects of you clan's culture. Have them leave with both a pleasant impression and a nice souvenir

Quote:

The Clans have moved forward from their traditional roots in many ways to better infiltrate and influence the human world. However, these traditions are not something to be simply tossed away and forgotten, but rather cherished and occasionally shared with outsiders.

Your horseman has been selected to show off one of the human-friendly aspects of their clan's culture. In traditional clothing, they'll be expected to introduce a small group of humans. It can be a class or demonstration, a display or lecture of sorts.

Quote:

No rolls needed.

You can choose to focus on what they teach or simply handwave that and focus on any troubles or successes your character has with the group instead. If you'd like detailed information to draw on, this is a link to horseman job classes, the canon tower, and the spoilers in this post include many many classes that involve each clans culture before the islands were destroyed.

The Clans had been moving forward from their traditional roots in many ways, but they also kept true to form and held onto some traditions that were too precious to be changed over the years.

It was Tessa's duty to share the cherished traditions with humans -- at least, the human-friendly aspects of said traditions -- and Tessa knew she had to at least dress the part.

She was happy to lead the tour in nice, soft robes, and had to tell herself not to smooth her hands over her sides in order to feel the niceness of them.

Tessa just liked nice clothing. Comfortable... yet stylish. That was the best kind of clothing, in her opinion.

The group of humans that she was to properly lecture in a manner of sorts came in shortly after she had dressed in the proper attire, and Tessa led them to a small classroom. In the room there were bottles already lined up in a row to demonstrate what her particular job class was.

"These," She began, "are potions that alchemists such as I, can procure." Her smile grew wide as she glanced to the group of humans, eyeing over each of them singly. They were a diverse group, dressed differently and in various colors... some young, some old, and some just looking almost uncaring at the presentation she was giving.

Tessa had an idea. Something to make them interested. Something that would have to grab their attention, and keep it.

"... so then. Any volunteers?"

Grasping one of the potions, Tessa raised it with a flourish, revealing the blue-green liquid inside. It was almost clear, yet at the bottom was a murky depth that was sent spiraling inside once Tessa had shaken the bottle.

"This is to make you small. So incredibly small, in fact, that you'll feel like a mouse." She pointed at a young man who came forward eagerly, and glanced towards a woman -- was he trying to impress her? -- before taking a hearty drink.

He set the bottle back on the table and smiled, then frowned, burping before he utterly shrank, finding that he was among a large pile of clothes.

"Oh," Tessa murmured thoughtfully. "It seems that you shrank... but your clothes did not. Do not worry, I will take care of your clothes for you!" She picked them up and folded them gently, taking care to pick up the tiny human as well and set them on the clothes.

"A minor setback, but do not worry! These are not permanent, not permanent at all."

The next potion that was lifted had a very bright orange color to it, with the consistency that the humans would find similar to concentrated orange juice.

It wouldn't taste like it, however -- but they'd find that out the hard way.

"This changes you into a creature of Halloween. Each form is different depending on the person... so who will be brave enough to try?"

An older woman approached Tessa, her bravado unmatched. Unlike the male, she wasn't doing this to impress anyone -- no, she was clearly doing this for herself, and proudly lifted the bottle to drink a bit of it, setting it down as soon as she tasted the strange flavor of the potion -- and felt the shiver of the potion's potency run down her spine.

She let out a shriek that turned into a howl, and before she knew it, she was on all fours, spaded tail flicking behind her as she rolled her head back and stared at the ceiling.

It was an interesting change, for sure, and Tessa wasn't entirely sure that either of the humans were coping that well.

"... well, anyway, the third potion I'll leave as a surprise."

There was one woman who was tired of the tiny man trying to get her attention, so she rose and took the third potion, which was green and not at all soothing on the eyes, but she raised it to her lips and took a very tiny drink.

She shuddered, nearly dropping the flask before Tessa grabbed it with careful fingers, placing it gently next to the other two flasks that the humans had drank from before.

The woman shrunk down and seemed to skitter across the floor, over Tessa's feet towards the back corner.

Tessa let out a bark of a laugh. "Ah! That's right! The nest of insects. Not just one, but many. It's a useful potion!"

Of course, useful to a Horseman was far different than useful to a human.

Not that that mattered, in this world! Tessa, quite honestly, was proud to share her heritage, and beamed as she glanced at the remaining humans that hadn't yet tasted the concoctions that made up the potions.

"Are there any other takers?" She asked, glancing back and forth between the remaining people, tilting her head. It was up to them if they wanted to taste them or not, but it seemed that they were stalling, more interested in actually looking at the changed humans than they were in changing themselves.

"Remember! These only last an hour." Her eyes were bright, matching that wide, ever present smile of hers.

"Enjoy them while you can!"

After letting the certain 'test subject' humans roam around in the various forms for an hour, the humans turned back and seemed no worse for wear, though one human's eyes were rather glassy eyed from the ordeal she had just been through.

Tessa recalled that that's the one woman that had been the pile of insects.

Oh, well. Perhaps that particular memory would fade in time? One could only hope.

"You may each take a bottle as a souvenir! Please enjoy the rest of your stay."

Tessa bowed with a smile as she let the humans each pick out a unique bottle to take with them, and they thanked her and left.

She thought the whole interaction and demonstration had gone great. She would have liked almost all of them to have tried the potions, but the majority of them had looked satisfied enough!

All in all, the entirety of the situation wasn't too shabby! Not shabby at all!
