[AUTO EXAM] Saya's House of Horrors (Y1 → Y2)

Saya, upon reading the note, of course had to investigate matters more thoroughly.

She was ready to go from Hob to Knob, and found that just as she had completed her coursework... there had been a letter on her door.

So of course she went.

The sugar faerie found herself in front of the house, examining it until she smelled something woodsy and almost like campfire smoke... and before she knew it, she was inside, the door locked behind her.

Her lips twisted.

She wasn't scared. She wasn't scared of NO THING.

Saya walked through the steps, breathing in deeply as she moved ever forward, finding that there were three rooms.

But to get through those three rooms, she had to navigate one at a time.

The first one she found was rather drab for the main color of the walls, but all the kitchen utensils lying around told her that this was a place that was used fairly often... and by the color of stains on the ceiling, there were a bunch of mishaps that happened here, as well.

Saya was very careful to watch her steps, but her nose wrinkled as her lips twisted in disgust, feeling a very squishy something under her heel, and it took everything she had not to recoil in horror and leave her shoe behind.

Even though it was rather disgusting to walk on... it was far better than going barefoot, and getting something stuck on her skin. She had enough to deal with as it was, having a tree growing out of her.

Breathing in and trying to calm her erratic nerves and heartbeat, Saya tried to scrape whatever it was from her shoe.

She searched the kitchen until she found a spatula, using it to wrench the sticky goo from the bottom of her sole, managing to succeed in her endeavor.

Saya stared at the goo that was now stuck to the spatula, wiggling it -- it was stuck on very tight, and she ended up throwing out the entire spatula into the garbage. It was ruined now, and there was no salvaging it.

Feeling better at her lack of sticky shoe now, Saya stepped forward with pride... and right into another sticky mess, feeling that same familiar squish slide along the bottom of her sole.

For fox sake.

Deciding to take a break from the squishing noise from her shoe, Sayael sat on a nearby chair and massaged her temples, already tired of this stupid house of 'horrors', finding the tricks in it were the standard mediocre kind.

Just silly pranks and gags, and leftover food that was no longer edible.

It was disappointing, and Saya realized with growing horror that she wasn't the same as she used to be.

She had grown up a fair bit, as well.

Oh.

Oh no.

This wouldn't do at all.

She stood up instantly and moved forward, trying to avoid her invasive thoughts.

Saya wanted, most of all, to be back in her student dorm room where it was safe and she could just lose herself in a book or homework or something --

She turned the corner and let out a yelp as she ran right into a barrel of what looked to be melted chocolate, knocking it over and falling under it with far too much ease.

Flailing a bit on the ground, she laid there for a few moments as the chocolate drizzled over her skin, her green eyes staring up at the ceiling with annoyance.

Now they were just doing this for a cheap gag. This was ridiculous! Who did this kind of thing!?

Managing to sit up with a tiny bit of sliding, she grimaced as she stared at the amount of chocolate that had gathered in her clothing and hair, and it was even dripping off of her branches.

She trudged forward, the sticky foot no longer an issue -- her entire body was sticky now.

And not in the good way.

Saya was tired of everything.

She was tired of the sound of herself. She was tired of the squelching sound from the chocolate and the stickiness on the bottom of her foot.

And to make matters worse, she'd stepped in something else that was sticky, so now both of the bottoms of her feet stuck with every step she took.

The sugar faerie was not a happy camper.

As the chocolate was beginning to set, Saya shivered as her body began to tense up, bits of chocolate flaking off and falling behind her as she entered the library.

Apparently she had to find the right combination of books, and attempted to rub the chocolate from her hands, managing only slightly before she started to look around.

One, two... four.

Nothing happened, nothing clicked, and Saya was stuck back at square one for figuring out the right combination, narrowing her eyes.

She'd figure this out... somehow.

Flaking off her hands entirely now, Saya managed to find the right combination of books, sliding them out of the wall and revealing a hidden passage that led to the third and final room.

It was about time.

 

[Kanth]

Finding herself in a bedroom, Saya glanced at the wonderful sheets, finding that she wished she had them -- and wanting a new set for her own bedroom.

It wasn't like she couldn't afford them, having a father that paid for most everything -- but she knew they needed replaced soon.

Looking around and trying to figure out what to do, she pursed her lips and put a hand on her hip, walking over to the next door she found... and finding it locked.

Huh.

Taking out a pin from her hair, she started to pick the lock, attempting to break it... and when her pin snapped, there was a bloodcurdling shriek that echoed in the room, and she dropped the broken pin to cover her ears, nearly shrieking herself in retaliation.

Once the screaming had died down, Saya managed to find another pin along her breast area, taking it out with a wince and attempting to lock the door a second time.

She jumped when it broke, the bloodcurdling scream seeming to echo in her ears, to the point where all she could hear for the next five minutes was an incessant ringing.

 

[Kanth]

Finding that she was quickly running out of pins, Saya tried to improvise and use one of the broken ones, only to have it broken further, and eaten by the door.

It then burped and burbled, and the scream echoed a third time.

She covered her ears, glaring at the ceiling, wishing it would stop.

Managing to find her very last pin, Saya maneuvered it in the lock and finally wrenched it open, shifting it so that the lock fell off.

There was no screaming this time.

Before anything could change its mind, she opened the door and rushed through, jerking it shut behind her before it could even think about screaming.

Once the door was shut, Saya found herself face to face with a familiar Trick or Treater, wearing green and an eyepatch with a heart.

She thought his fashion statement was rather absurd... but then again, covered in chocolate and sticky things, she didn't really have a right to say anything.

So she didn't.

"Congratulations!" He cheered, jumping from his tree and waving his hands in the air, producing a rolled up graduation parchment from nothing, handing it over to her chocolatized hands. "You are now a knob."

Saya was glad, but wished that the actual test had been anything else.

All she did was nod in silent thanks, making her way back to her dorm room, her shoes making the squick swish swonk sound behind her... all the way home.
