Tanita was just about to start boiling water for tea when she saw her phone flashing. Repeatedly. She glanced down, and couldn't help but chuckle at the texts from Merope. Oh dear, she would have to go rescue him.



Tanita stood, and examined her robes with care. She took a fan and slid it into her obi, along with her phone and her key to her room. After a moment of making sure she hadn't forgotten anything, she nodded and proceeded down to the Common Areas, pacing calmly to the Pavilions. She scanned them, and spotted the one Merope was in, and waved, with a smile. She calmly walked into the gazebo and slid onto the cushion across from him. "So. Is it still working after the... tea incident?" She asked him, curiously. She noticed the rice bowl, and winced a little, knowing what it was for. "Also, has that Rep done anything to actually prove it's his phone?" Her eyes narrowed, just a little, at the mention of that Rep fellow. She didn't know him personally, but somehow she got a definite feeling he was not the owner.

She reached over and touched Merope's hand, just a small, friendly touch, no more, because she thought he looked quite dejected. "You'll figure this out. I'll do what I can to help you, I promise." She nodded, and then set her hand back on her own knee, then leaned to examine the phone a little more, looking at the model and case, trying to find some sort of identifying features.

"Then I suspect Rep has given up on convincing you it's his, because he knows it's not." She made a harrumph sound, annoyed at this Rep, who she'd only encountered in the Chat, for his clear desire to take things that were NOT his. Not acceptable, at all, in her mind. Taking other peoples' things was probably the fastest way to irritate the living hell out of Tanita, and he'd managed it. She took a slow breath, calming herself back down, and then blinked at Merope's musings about fish eating the phone. That was quite... an interesting visual, she had to admit.

That said, no she did not think she would want it back. "I think at that point I would give it up for lost because... Ew. Fish guts. Who knows what else was in there with the phone, if that had happened? So it's for the best you didn't have to do that. I mean first you have to find the fish and then you'd have to get it OUT of the fish, which probably means killing the fish and then you'd have to REPLACE the fish, because it might disrupt the balance of them in there. Don't you think?" She looked out at the fish swimming in the water around them.

She turned back to Merope, and frowned at his self mocking words. "No. No it is not laughable. It is admirable that you are bothered by the idea that this might have happened. It shows that you have a sense of responsibility. Yes, you need to work on the part where you get up the courage to face the person who you might have accidentally wronged, but some people find that harder then battle. After all, the other side is rarely someone you know. This might be. But you'll get the courage. I have faith in you." She reached over to the phone, and picked it up, then pressed the on button, and waited.

"Well yes but simply the act of retrieving it would take care of that issue. Removing a fish, however, would mean the balance of the fishes was off. And, honestly, I truly can't see how I, or you, would get the phone OUT of the fish without... opening it up. Which is a rather permanent solution." She paused, then added thoughtfully "Though well cooked, it might taste good? I do not know. I have never eaten the breed we keep here." She shook her head, and dragged it back to the balance issue. "I just don't know. Then again, I am not their caretaker, and such a one would be better trained to know such things."

She watched Merope drop the candy, and then the ripples it made, and the ripples of the approaching fish. After a long, silent moment of consideration, she nodded. "True but... That's a temporary imbalance. The fish that eats the candy ends the imbalance, for the candy is food, and digestable. A phone certainly isn't."

She smiled, a warm smile, at Merope, and reached over to pat his hand. "Remember, not all of us have the same strengths, and no one shows them in the same way." She looked back down at the phone at his question, and smiled, slowly, as it came to life. "Well the button is a tad sticky... Perhaps the owner can take it in to get it serviced, once you find them, to deal with that. But it's on, and asking for a password." She set it back on the rice, face up, peering to see if there were any notifications popping up that MIGHT give a clue as to whose phone it was. Like, maybe, a private text from some one specific.
