Rank: Candidate
Location: High Reaches Weyr
Physical Description: Fairly average of build, if not a little lanky, Farensil has fleshed out since coming to the weyr. Initially, she was a little on the thin and pale side, having kept mostly indoors to tend to her duties amongst the firelizards. Farensil's hair is often tucked back in two poofy ponytails, resting along either shoulderblade, and glitters a brilliant copper in the sunlight. her violet eyes are fronted with small lenses to aid in her farsightedness, though she'll tuck them away or hang them on the hem of her shirt if she's not doing something that requires precision. She often favors purple and pink in her clothes, and occasionally small touches of green.
Personality: Farensil's a quiet individual who enjoys her work, no matter how mundane it is. She has no problem with mucking stalls or handling watchwhers when necessary or handling the chores others don't like as much. Her dilligince is often respectable in this aspect. However, as she tends to enjoy these simple, often mundane tasks, she often offers to take the chores from other wards and persons. As such, some of the instructors have labelled her an enabler, making it so the others don't have to do their work, or can just lounge around and lazily watch her attend their tasks. It's unsure whether this behavior will break off when, and if, she ever gets her own dragon. The instructors hope so.
Along these same tasks, a variety of instructors has noticed an endless patience and a quiet inventiveness, which seem to make even the most obnoxious-seeming tasks less so. The girl's been witnessed finding new ways to teach old lessons when one of the younger weyrbrats is having trouble with their learning, particularly in the ways of simpler math, or learning how to do something. She's always got some song or game to help figure a task out, when it's something she knows how to do.
SHe even has one of these songs for cooking. The song often ends with running from the people who are actually supposed to be in the kitchens, swatting at her with ladles. Despite her love for the art, she rarely produces anything better than slop. And it's pretty gross slop, at that.
Although she's always the one listening the hardest when it comes to instructions, her listening skills kind of fall by the wayside when she's doing something, herself. It's been decided the girl sufferes from powerful daydreams, coupled with near-crippling tunnel-vision, so when possible, the instructors tend to stick nearby if they think Farensil might be doing something even remotely dangerous.
Despite her apparent contentedness to settle for every-day chores most of the time, Farensil does have a few ambitious bones to her skinny frame. While it won't show often, she tends to get depressed if she has to miss out on an opportunity to learn something new, or doesn't get the chance to speak with someone she respects when they're available. During these depressions, she'll slack on her own chores, neglect others' chores if she's promised to pick them up, and either sings much quieter tunes or stops alltogether. The behavior fades with no real explanation whenever she's tired of sulking.
Positive Trait List Dilligent, Patient, Inventive
Negative Trait List Tunnel-Vision, Daydreamer, Enabler, Ambitious
History: Born to a grape farmer's cothold beholden to Tillek, Farensil was orphaned at the age of 3 due to a farming mishap with a large experimental harvesting machine and may get a little twitchy around mechanical devices. It is blamed on the particularly cold morning that a screw or spring came loose and the blades meant to tend the fields detatched from the machine and killed three people. Farensil wears a scar on her left arm from nearly joining them. It's nearly always covered, though. Seen as a bit of a depression, or perhaps a challenge to the ownership of the cothold, she was sent to join a craft that was thought would keep her extra busy and distract her mind well.
Since then, Farensil has spent most of her life in amongst an order of Firelizard breeders bound to Tillek. When she came of age, it was without question that she be apprenticed, and she was happy to clean their nesting areas, oil their hides, tend to nests when it was needed, and take part in the arranging of sales. Due to her versatility and willingness, she was also set to tending the watchwher on her off-duty times, and she took her duties seriously. During her apprenticeship, she made no successful impressions, though she was there to witness several hatchings. The further dedication required to maintain a wher beyond what it takes for a firelizard or dragon fascinated her.
It was during one such chore that she was found on a Search, when a bronze came to the crafthold. He and his dragon carried her back to hold when the Dragon expressed an interest in her abilities with controlling the Wher, and she has seen a couple hatchings with no impressions since that time, two years ago.
Other: Although she has no family to tell her so, there was a dragonless woman in her bloodline a few generations ago. If she is ever injured beyond an ability to fly, she would probably turn to a specialization in Whers and Firelizards.
