Taking stock of the location, Haumea gave a curt nod to himself. The parking lot and store had clearly been abandoned for a fair bit. Which meant no cameras or likelihood of being interrupted.

And since he was planning to coaxing Sapphirine into a sparring contest, that was all to the good.

He'd already tucked a first aid kit into a safe little spot and had set up rag markers to delineate the size of their arena. All he needed now was his partner and hopefully, she'd arrive soon.

Kalina had been very excited to get the call about meeting up with Haumea later, and she had done her makeup and hair to perfection, only to be dismayed when all of that work was washed away the moment she made the switch from Kalina to Sapphirine. Well. So much for looking good for their patrol date.

Not that she didn’t always look good…he most likely wouldn’t have noticed anyway, so perhaps it was a good thing it didn’t show through her powered glamour.

As she reached the area he had specified, Sapphirine frowned slightly, and raised an eyebrow at the more experienced corrupt. “Hey lover. This is a strange place to patrol, don’t you think? You really think we’ll get a lot of foot traffic around here…”

She paused and then a slow grin began to creep across her face. “Unless you just wanted some alone time. Now, Haumea, you could have just told me you wanted to come over, you perve.” Moving closer, Sapphirine winked, tossing her long black hair so it flowed behind her like a cape.

“But really, Haumea, what did you have in mind for tonight?”

He felt her aura before he saw or heard her. Giving a purely internal sigh, Haumea made a mental note to discuss the way she spoke to others. Now, he and she had reached a careful understanding and he was willing to overlook some of her sassiness. A General might not be so forgiving.

"Woman, take your mind from the gutter," he replied, amusement clear in his eyes. "This is work. Now, you might recall that I once told you that you have enormous potential as a warrior, yes?"

He unbent enough to smile, his facial tattoos giving the expression a monstrous appearance. Waving one arm casually over the course he'd set up, he turned to face the younger Corrupt fully. And then, he smiled, clearly offering challenge.

"Tonight, we're going to see if you rise up to that potential."

Sapphirine couldn’t stop the shiver that ran through her at the slightly…well. More than slightly deranged smile on Haumea’s face. Thank goodness they were on the same side…and she had seen that he could be gentle…

Well. He could be gentle sometimes. To kittens.

“Yeah? Well. Okay. Let’s do it then. I swear to God though, Hau. If you break any more of my bones, I’ll bite off your…” She paused, sighing. When he was powered like this, he expected respect, and sometimes that was something she struggled with. A lot.

“Nose. Your nose. My mind isn’t in the gutter, I swear.” Even though…it totally was. Always.

“Let’s get this party started, shall we?” Her eyes flickered around the parking lot and she rolled her neck, trying to loosen up her suddenly tensed muscles. She wanted to be the warrior he claimed that she could be. There was nothing more she wanted to do at this moment other than make him proud.

Nodding in approval as she clearly paused to rethink her words, Haumea thought that she was learning. And if he could teach her to think before acting or speaking, there was much less chance of a General or General-Sovereign using her hide for target practice.

"Good girl. Tonight, I want to see your magic in action. We can work further from there. So. Attack me using your magic."

He threw a challenging grin her way, sure that she'd obey. Out of buried resentment for their first encounter if for no other reason.

"Don't hold back now."

The request threw her for a moment, and Sapphirine frowned just a little. “My…magic?” She thought for a moment and shrugged. “I’ve never actually gotten a chance to use it yet. I almost did a little while ago on a senshi that I really…I really thought I had him, Hau. But…”

Quickly she closed her mouth. Enough talking. This wasn’t the time to talk.

Use her magic.

Drawing in a deep breath, she turned to face the pink haired corrupt and slowly raised her arms. “Fluke Slap.” The power rushed from her a lot quicker than she had expected and the rush felt…good. There was power in this magic, she could tell just from the shape of it, and she hoped that the power would meet…if not exceed Haumea’s expectations.

Sapphirine raises both of her hands and brings them crashing back down to her sides. When the attack is started, it causes a fluke made of senshi magic energy which comes crashing down on an opponent, who is within ten feet of Sapphirine, stunning them for fifteen seconds. This attack can be used twice per battle. The attack may leave the recipient with a headache, or mild disorientation.

Clear approval at the way she stopped arguing and simply did as asked shone from Haumea's eyes. He found it hard to believe that she'd never used her magic before, but well... everyone progressed differently. And if she never thought of herself as being a warrior, why would she have ever bothered to try before?

An interesting thought and one he would have to give more time to later.

As it was, he quickly found himself wishing he hadn't been standing quite so close to Sapphirine when she finally unleashed her magic. He didn't exactly fall back on his a**, but his balance did wobble a bit and after, he found himself standing there, shaking his head against the headache that was forming.

"Very good! Very good, indeed," he praised her calmly, though inside he felt a glow of satisfaction. He'd known she had tremendous potential shut away. It was so nice to be proven right. "So, now we know it can be quite effective against a standing target. But those of the White Moon so seldom stand still and accept our blows. So, let's see how you fare against a moving target, hrmm? I am going to move around and work my way towards you. You need to make sure I never get in a hit."

He was certain she could do it. She was smart and more importantly, motivated. For a moment, he considered giving her a hint about keeping track of where an opponent would be moving too and aiming a few seconds ahead. But no. She would feel more accomplished if she figured it out herself.

"Remember, lover," he grinned fiercely. "You have to stop me reaching you."

That said, he jogged to put a small distance between them and them began to charge towards her, using the obstacle course to dodge, duck and dive.

His praise was as powerful as a drug, and Sapphirine drank it in, grinning. Not just good…Very Good. It was a good feeling, Haumea’s approval.

His words registered after a moment and she tried to clear the words from her head, tried to focus on the fight at hand…and not what would happen later. After she let him reach her. After they were perhaps back at her house…

Shaking her head, Sapphirine watched as the stronger corrupt began moving towards her, she took a few steps back, keeping her eyes on him at all times, and when he got too close, she leapt onto an abandoned trashcan and once more let her attack fly, eyes blazing from the exertion and the excitement of it. She knew that he wouldn’t hurt her…but he was still a very real threat, and her heart was pounding from the fear as much as it was pounding from the attraction she felt for him.

“Fluke Slap!”

She had allowed him to get close enough that she hoped the attack would hit once again. At least…that had been her plan.

Haumea felt the magic graze by, though it didn't fully touch him this time. Panting a little from his efforts, he held up a hand to pause the 'fight' and smiled tightly.

"Good effort. Next time don't rely on letting people get close. That jump was impressive, though. Any charges left?" he asked curiously, wanting to know the limits to her magic. "Try to hit that cone there," he said, pointing to a brilliantly green safety cone a few feet away.

If she was out of magic for the time being, they could at least talk about ways and means. And if she wasn't, they'd try again.

Simple as that.

“I…I don’t know.” She felt tired. Very tired. For a moment she wondered if that meant she had used up her magic or that she was just…not used to using it.

For a moment, Sapphirine swayed on the trashcan before hopping off and clearing her throat. “I’m not sure if I can use it again, the thought makes me feel utterly exhausted, but if you want me to, I could try?”

She looked at Haumea for instructions. He knew what he was doing, and she trusted he would never push her past any limits that she might have…and even if he did…it was well within his right, was it not? She belonged to him, and she was obligated to listen and do whatever he said.

“I’m sorry that I missed hitting you. I thought for sure my plan would work…but of course…you were actually trying that time…so it makes sense that it didn’t.”

Her jewel bright eyes landed on the cone, and it seemed so utterly far away. Letting out a breath, she raised her arms once more. “Should I try, Hau?”

Noting the sway and Sapphirine's own admission of exhaustion, Haumea felt a tiny surge of disappointment. Well, she was new at this. It was unfair to expect so much out of her the first time out the gate. So rather than making her feel badly, he smiled and reached out to ruffle her hair.

"You look like you're about to fall on your nose and the feeling is only going to get worse when you power down. Therefore, we are sensibly going to call it a night and try again later. Don't worry about not hitting me. By the time I'm done with you, you'll be able to."

Pausing a moment to really look at her, Haumea decided that what Sapphirine needed was rest. They could discuss theory another time.

Pulling her close for a moment, he planted a feather light kiss on her forehead.

"Go home and power down. Take a hot bath, drink water, eat something and rest. We work on this more when your energy levels are back up. I will call in a bit, once I finish my own patrol, yes?"

She felt a little disappointed by his reaction…and by the fact that he wouldn’t be coming home with her to celebrate her practice of magic. Oh well. There would be other times…and the kiss had felt nice…she just wished it had been her lips…or other places…and had been full of more passion rather than…whatever the kiss had been filled with.

Though…he was right…she was tired. And the suggestions he made sounded…wonderful. Almost as wonderful as a hot, steamy night with him…but…

Another time. When she really made him proud.

She rested against him for as long as he let her, and finally pulled away. “Yes, sir. I look forward to hearing from you, Haumea. I’ll tell the kitten that you say hello, shall I?”

Smiling, Sapphirine took a few steps back, before some reprimand about being too friendly with her superior came around again…

And before that could happen, she took off, running towards her home, running to get into the warm bath…and running to go and wait for Keki’s call.
