The Human Corporation

"We're here for humanity."

The Human Corporation, often referred to as HCorp, is the parent company of a multitude of companies in the health and technology fields, all created with the purpose of bettering and advancing mankind with a truly global agenda. The founder and CEO of HCorp, Mr. E, is a fairly reclusive and enigmatic figure. A popular conspiracy theory has it that he contracted a disfiguring disease in childhood, turning that hardship into a lifelong quest to ensure that others will never have to suffer as he has! Currently, Mr. E's personal base of operations is located at his recently opened spa retreat, The Hive, which is focused on Wellness, Weight loss, and Learning to Live on Less. A luxurious oasis resort awaits those lucky and wealthy enough to afford a visit.

It may or may not cost a kidney. Or two.

The Famine Queen is often found within his offices and labs, a genial figure wrapped in black bandages and robes, only a pair of glowing blue eyes visible. Despite this, you often get the sense that he's smiling at you. There's always work to do though, especially upon the opening of a new project. Just do your best and be sure to never be wasteful in his presence.

gaia_star A reminder to go here on how to take on a job!

[ JOB LISTING ] Cafeteria Worker
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star
[ TASK ] To serve special lunches to guests that will ensure their diet remains On Course For Success

Quote:

The human staff has been taking a lot of injuries lately handling the dining periods, and extra help, even just for an hour a day, would help tremendously!

The cafeteria is white on white on white. It's pristine. Enya plays gently in the distance. The guests sit themselves down at their tables with their very white trays and very white, very empty plates and try to very patiently wait for a server to approach them. You are their server. You are their savior.

Roll 2d6 and complete the 2 prompts
  1. You give them a Cherry Coke Zero for their meal. They cry in gratitude as others look on in envy.
  2. You give them 6 peas. Talk them through eating every single one mindfully. Mindfulness is very On Trend right now.
  3. You give them a Twinkie. Their neighbor sees this, a fight breaks out.
  4. You walk a guest through eating a feast made entirely with their imagination.
  5. You give them a book to read, food for thought is important after all. They attack you.
  6. The single vending machine which only stocks small, fifty dollars bags of dried seaweed has not been restocked yet for the day. A riot breaks out.

[ JOB LISTING ] Treatment Center
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] Aid spa specialists in their innovative treatments by helping handle and feed the wholly organic swarms of healthful helpers provided by nature in all its mystery. (Warning : Insect & Worm Prompts)

Quote:

The human staff has gone tragically missing, but all new ventures are bound for a few hiccups. The treatment keepers have taken to pulling in any idle horsemen found at the spa or even in the Dusk to come spend a shift helping feed and care for the spa's special swarms of cultivated insects and unusual plant life.

Roll 2d6 and complete the 2 prompts
  1. You're set to supervise a tank full of leeches. It's an incredibly boring job until the leeches begin to grow. And grow. And grow until they're the size of a fat man's leg. The tank breaks. They're surprisingly fast and wily for leeches and it's up to you to catch and corral them all. Roll 1d10 until you succeed by getting a 6 or higher.
  2. The Moth Room needs cleaning and it's not a very glorious or interesting job until you start to hallucinate and the walls begin to melt.
  3. The Music Room allows you to enjoy a peaceful shift feeding its inhabitants as they are trained in their next composition.
  4. The tapeworms need to be taken for discreet walkies. This process involves placing leashes and collars on tapeworms and then walking them around, whispering encouragements to help motivate them to be their best wormselves. Roll 1d10 until you succeed three times by getting a 3 or higher.
  5. The Nagev Garden is full of helpful plants that wont just melt away fat but also clean the bones underneath as well with an enthusiastic efficiency! Feeding them is a pleasure if you life watching meat get torn apart and some of the plants will even let you pet them after. Roll 1d4 to determine how many fingers you lose during this shift. (Don't worry, they'll grow back by tomorrow.)
  6. The maggot farm has gone missing and the spa needs your help in finding out where it's gone off to. Was it stolen? Did their Fear Makeup get altered in an experiment, transforming them into something new? Did something eat the whole thing? You don't have to roll for success, you just have to tell a story to the shift supervisor.

[ JOB LISTING ] Transporter
[ DIFFICULTY LEVEL ] gaia_star gaia_star gaia_star
[ TASK ] Sometimes things need to be moved, quickly. Maybe it's a body, maybe it's only part of a body. Speed, discretion, and the ability to do away with obstacles are all necessary to complete this task.

Quote:

Several of the clan members who help run the spa have gone missing. Nobody is particularly worried about them as they are the type to like going on adventures without notice or anything approaching consideration for their co-workers. In fact, there's some who would just prefer those three never came back. Mr. E, however, just waves you over and you're pretty sure he's smiling at you.

"There's a little delivery we need made, and you look entirely qualified to make it for me. You will, of course, be rewarded and your valuable contribution to HCorp acknowledged for all of eternity, so and so forth, please just go do it, yes? Be a good child..."

Being a bad child doesn't seem like a very promising life choice.

It's just a little cooler, firmly locked and sealed with something very possibly harmful to you. If you decide to unlock the chest instead of deliver it, roll 1d100. 1-99 means you are now poisoned and lose 10 HP for every post you make today (icly and oocly). If you roll 100, post quote lizbot to see what happens.

The cooler can be delivered in any method of your choice, walking via portals, flying, even driving through the human world is viable. The destination is also your choice.

Roll 3d6 and complete the 3 prompts
  1. Everything goes very smoothly and well. You are safe and also awesome at this.
  2. Your mode of transportation gets destroyed, cutting your HP in half. You must find a new way to get to your destination.
  3. You are attacked by humans, possibly bandits or possibly cops or possibly just really drunk teenagers doing it for their YouTube channel. How do you deal with them? Do you try to stay low key or do you get violent and hella magical with your badself?
  4. You are attacked by two members of Famine. Do you try to persuade them to let you go on your way or do you try to kick their a**? Roll 2d20. Each dice represents a Famine horseman. 15 and over is a success. Every failure costs you 10 HP. You must succeed twice. (Example: is you roll 11 and 17 in one turn, that is one failure and one success.)
  5. The cooler is stolen by birds. To catch them roll 4d4, if any of the dice is a 1, you fail to catch them. You've failed at your job today. When Mr. E sees you next, he's definitely smiling.
  6. You are attacked by a Hunter. You can choose to fight or escape. To escape, roll 1d20. Anything 16 or higher means you've gotten away. Anything less and you've been hit for 10HP and need to either try again or try fighting back. To fight, roll 2d8. The first die is you, the second is the Hunter. The one that is higher wins that exchange. The first to hit the other three times wins the confrontation. (In the case of a tie, your horseman wins.)

He had only heard good things about Human Corp, and had enlisted in volunteering some time to work there. Since it was an exclusive area limited to a select few humans, he had to wonder if there was a degree of difference to these humans compared to others based on the criteria of wealth. There were differences from good hoarding dragons and those who did not accumulate wealth, and maybe the physical and mental properties of gathering funds did something to people.

It did help that the operation was Famine based, and yet the ascetics of the place left him wanting. Corporations must have all remained uniform in the sleek and bleached white, and he felt more like he was in the inside of a sun-bleached skull's mouth when he entered the building and got his working visitors pass from security.

He had heard there were also special specimens kept in the human corp and wanted to try getting a job there in order to see them. However, he had heard plenty of rumors about how rough it was working here, and while there might have been benefits, the direct exposure to testy humans were a major downside that had a few he spoke to leaving the corporation. Strangely enough, despite the conditions, they seemed as if they were guilty or remorseful that they hadn't met a certain level of expectations.

It was confusing to say the least, but the best way to figure things out was to see things for yourself.
