Continuation from SRP Origin Story - Opal in the Rough I don't know how to plot so... just please read it before joining > - < thank you!
Trying to either expand her personality through a few friends or a potential friend to later become a life mate. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Intro Post:It’s been a couple months since Opal fled the Ulaya village. She’s gotten braver and will occasionally take small trips back to visit Mags and watch the other Ulaya from under a shaded tree. She doesn’t talk much to anyone else but she’s hoping one day to find what puzzle she fits into.

Opal had arrived in the village early that morning and spent the majority of it helping Mags with her berry gardens just outside the gate. She had been fortunate enough to been giving some seeds to start her own berry garden at home and tucked them safely away in her pouch.
It was around noon and the sun was shining bright in the sky. Per usual the town square was lively with groups of ulaya socializing and trading their wares. Opal searched for a place to sit and settled a make shift bench fashioned from a fallen tree.
Her eyes drifted over the crowd of Ulaya and settled on a familiar face. She smiled softly noticing the dark Male and his wife now accompanied by a precious young cub. It was nice to know they got their happy ending. All and all, its been a pretty good day she thought to herself.
Now growing slightly bored, sitting here doing nothing, Opal decided to peruse the market. She was curious to see what handcrafted goodies the people were selling today.

Opal walked along the rows of vendors in the marketplace. Although Opal didn't quite understand the purpose of clothes she did find the sewn fabric pretty to look at. One vendor in particular caught her attention. The wares of this shop were not clothes however, but jewelry. Spread across the table in front of her were gemstone pendants and collars, most sparkling in reflection of the light. Opal's eyes fell to a white stone with clouds of rainbow in it. The stone was a rounded oval in shape and hung from a silk string necklace.
Opal inquired about the stone and was shocked to discovered it too, was called an Opal. At this moment she decided she wanted it for herself and offered the other Ulaya a handful of crystals from her cave in exchange for the pendant. Upon seeing the crystals the Ulaya's eyes widdened and quickly agreed to the trade. He took the necklace off the table and hung it around Opal's neck. He told her it was a perfect fit. Opal looked down at the stone and beamed.

During her travels Amarante always takes her time to explore the area she's just arrived at so when she gets to a town she does the same. By the time she arrives at the marketplace she becomes excited because she loves seeing everything that the vendors are selling. When she gets to the one with the jewelry she slows to a stop to admire all of the jewelry and even the necklace that someone is wearing around their neck. Amarante smiles as she greets her, "Hello there, I hope I'm not interrupting you." Seeing as she would never want to interrupt anyone for any reason and as she sweetly smiles she decides to intorduce herself, "I'm Amarante." Knowing full well that she likes to know what to call others when she meets them and she's sure they feel the same.

Opal had been lost in her own thoughts until a voice brought her back to reality. Someone was talking to her? but that never happens! Sure enough, infront of her sat a younger ulaya with two horns, red like rubies. The cub looked up at her smiling, as if awaiting a response. Opal was flustered for a moment now realizing what had been said and replied. "Hello. I'm afraid I didn't see you there. My name is Opal" She paused for moment. "You don't look like any villager I've seen, I'm guessing your not from here". Opal tilted her head slightly. It was a rare occasion for other Ulaya to pass through this village since few people wanted to travel this far out.

Amarante smiles brightly once she finds that Opal is rather sweet and doesn't seem to mind that she walked over to her to talk with her. "It's nice to meet you Opal, and you are right I'm not from this village nor am I from this area. I've been traveling ever since I emerged from my box because I was all alone and had no home. Since then I've seen a lot of interesting things and learned as much as I could about them. Which is how I know that necklace has an opal on it and Opal is your name. It seems that necklace was meant for you so it's not wonder you found it." As she admires the necklace she begins to wonder so she asks, "Do you live in the villager or around this area?" It's the only reason Opal would say that Amarante didn't look like any villager that she'd seen.

[omgersh i totally never got the notification for this..totally embarrassed now cuz i was waiting] Opal looked down at the little one"On your own all this time? That must've been difficult". Opal pondered this, wondering if she would've had a similar fate had she not been found. However, Amarante seemed to be doing just fine for herself. Surely quite wise for her age "I'm not really from around here myself. Not that i know of anyway. Opal continued. "I live out towards the winter..but I've come to know these people, same routines, everyday like clock work." Opal looked around at the market, lively with families and couples, the occasional elder. "You don't resemble any Ulaya I've seen here, your unique". Opal smiled. "I suppose you like stones and such? she reached into her pouch and pulled out another crystal she gathered from her cavern, handing it to Amarante. You can have this then, I have many many more at home.

[It's alright, that sort of thing happens, so if you want me to quote you just let me know.]
Amarante nods her head a few times before agreeing with Opal, "It's been difficult to be alone for so long, though, it's always nice to meet someone new. I never know if they will become my friend or my foe because I know that not everyone will like me. Though, I always take that risk because when I do find someone friendly like you we often become friends after spending enough time together." While wondering where Opal came from Amarante begins to think a bit about where she came from. Nodding a bit because she's meet a few strangers with their routines, "Oh my, there must be lots of snow there to play in, I wonder if I went there if I would ever want to leave. I love snow because it captivates me, it cold, and in the right light it looks like it sparkles." Amarante blushes at that fact and smiles even more because she likes being unique, "I can say the same about you being unique." Filled with amazement and wonder she nods her head once almost unable to answer. When she does answer her voice isn't a whisper because she wanted Opal to hear her, though, it also wasn't a shout because that would be too loud. Remaining calm she replies keeping her excitement in check, "I love crystals, gems, stones, and other such things because they are all unique." As Opal hands her a crystal Amarante stares at her in awe as she gently takes the crystal with both of her front paw, "Thank you so much, this is the most wonderful gift I have ever received."

[ yeeaaaah i might need to be quoted o -o.. it only notified me the first time] Opal laughed softly at the young ulayas amazement. "I'm glad you like it".It was cute to see such excitement over things like snow or her crystals. Of course she saw tons of crystals almost everyday since they lined her home and snow for as far as you can see but not everyone got that luxury she supposed. All things aside. Opal was just happy to be talking to someone besides Mags. There's only so much to talk about with a berry gardener.
She explained to the child that she lived to the south of here, through a thick wood and up towards the mountains. She told her how the snow coated the ground like a thick wool blanket and how at night the sky lights would reflect against her pond. The cavern she lived within had walls covered in various crystals but until today she'd not seen gemstones. She was very fond of her home, and found herself rather fond Amarante as well. Not many Ulaya know what its like to travel outside the town's gates.
Opal looked to the sky, it was mid afternoon, then returned her gaze to the cub infront of her. "This is a nice place, they lead a simple happy life and it works for them... but I'd never feel like living in this wooden dens among all these people". Opal may have grown up in the pack but that was different. This is a whole different world to her still. She's had to learn the ways of her kind and how to be "civilized" as Mags once said. Getting lost in her thoughts again Opal's gaze drifted towards the front gates. The sun had started to cast a large shadow from them. "You're welcome to stay with me should you ever travel into the winter's valley. I have more then enough room but not many can take the harsh cold.
It was getting a little too crowded for Opal's comfort zone and she asked if Amarante if she was hungry. Nodding for her to follow Opal led her to a patch of green in a quieter place in town. The patch was located on the outter edge of their townsquare, where the children often lingered to play. Here was her favorited tree to sit under, all sights without all of the noise. Opal sat under the tree and waited for Amarante to do the same. She pointed up. "Hope you like peaches" Above their heads the flowering tree was full of plump ripe peaches ready for picking.

[Alright, I'll quote you from now on~!] Amarante contently listened as Opal told her all about where she lives and how to get there. How she explained the snow covering the ground and the lights in the night sky reflecting off of the pond. It sounded so beautiful that she felt she would be comfortable living there for a while if Opal didn't mind her being around.
Amarante nodded her head a bit to show that she understood about not wanting to live in those wooden dens with so many others around. Having lived by herself for so long Amarante knows that it can be difficult to fit in with certain others in certain places. Which is why she hasn't found a home or maybe even a forever home when she does decided to stop traveling. So when she hears Opal say that she can stay with her she becomes just as excited as when Opal had given her the crystal. With her having more than enough room Amarante won't feel like she's getting in the way and she knows she can handle the cold.
When Amarante realized that the marketplace was getting a bit too crowed which is something she doesn't like. So when Opal asks if she's hungry she wonders if she wants to go someplace more open and a lot less crowed. Which will mean they have a few more things in common so she places her crystals on her back then follows Opal to a quieter area in town. Once Opal sat down Amaranth decided to carefully lay down so her crystal wouldn't roll down her back. Amarante looks up at the peaches very unsure about if she liked them or not seeing as she never tried them before. She found the smell a bit stranger, though, she enjoyed how interesting they felt. When she looks at Opal she replies, "I've never tried one before, though, there is always a first time. Of course, even if I find out that I don't like them I'll still be able to enjoy the wonderful sight of the plum tree. It's also not crowded here, or noisy, so it's the perfect place to relax and get to know each other better."

"They're pretty good in my opinion, but you gotta be lucky enough to pick the right ones" Opal recalled a time she bit into one particular sour peach.. it was not a pleasant experience. "They do well in cold weather so I always take a couple home with me when i visit". Eating like a herbivore is something Opal had to get used to since hunting with the pack was no longer an option. There aren't a lot of fruits in the tundra so she's made do with what she could carry back. Hopefully the berry plants in her pouch could change that but that was a thought for later.
Opal reached up to the branch of above her and picked a peach she believed would be sweet, at least she hoped it would. She plopped back down onto the ground next to Amarante with the peach grasped between her front paws. "Do you plan on staying here long? Opal inquired as she stripped the peach of its skin with her claw. She sliced herself a piece and bit into it, pleased to find it was sweet and ripe.

Amarante smiles, "I'm glad you enjoy peaches, though, I'm guessing that you must have gotten a bad peach or so in the past? Though, you don't have to explain to me about what happened because I've had times when I haven't gotten a good fruit or berry. It wasn't the best experience, though, I learned how to pick better ones after that. So in the end it was a good experience for me because I know better know." Nodding her head in agreement, "I've heard that certain berries, fruits, and vegetables do well in cold weather. Of course, you have to know which ones are best in colder weather if you plan on growing them in cold weather." While she blushing she explains, "I had visited a village in a colder area and they explained that if the vegetables are covered a certain why while grown in cold weather they can turn out as well or somewhat better than if they were grown in warm weather. Having believed them I only tasted the vegetables because I don't normally turn down anything that is freely given to me."
Amarante watched Opal carefully and when she bite into the peach she could smell the interesting scent coming from it. Having never tried a peach before she's unsure of what she'll think about it, though, she might as well try it. Once she finds out if she does or doesn't like peaches she'll be able to quickly accept and or deny any other offers of peaches in her future. Looking over at Opal she smiles as she carefully thinks about her answer before replying, "I was thinking about staying earlier when you explained where you live because I feel like I would love living there with you. I'm not positive about how long I'd stay, though, I have no reason to leave any time soon." Tilting her head at the peach she asks, "Opal, would you mind clawing a small slice for me to try? Your facial expression shows that it's a good peach and if I'm going to at least try a peach it might as well be a good one, don't you agree?"Lady Angel Heart I'm not sure when, though, I had watched a show on tv about someone growing vegetables in cold weather. They covered them a certain way to prevent frostbite if I remember correctly, though, it was about one or two months ago that I saw it. Seeing as Opal lives in the cold I thought I would bring that up since for some reason I just remembered about it.

Opal listened as Amarante talked about her experiences. She had planned to transfer some soil into her den figuring the water access and warmth would help the plants grow but plants do require actual sunlight, not just luminescent crystals. Perhaps she'd need to do more research, though Mags seemed pretty sure the berry plants could withstand the frost. She had tried her best to explain to Opal how farming was suppose to work and Opal had tried her best to listen and understand it.
Opal carefully sliced a wedge from the peach and offered to the cub. "Sounds logical enough to me. Easier to cross a bridge once someone else proves its safe". She watched as a couple children ran by chasing a ball of wound up twine. Your very mature for your age, and very open to people and experiences. Suppose I could take a lesson or two from that book. She felt somewhat silly, this child has been on her own her whole life and is more accepting of this world than she is.
Opal considered her journey home. She knew it was past half the day and if she were to leave now it would be dark before she reached the end of the forest. I won't lie it is a long walk back the way I come, though I suppose your no stranger to that. And I must warn you, I'm not sure how good of a host I would be. I've been living there alone for awhile now.
Noone for as far as the eye can see, unless you count rabbits. They kinda just sit there and stare" She looked down a bit annoyed and mumbled Not my fault I grew up eating them. Opal laughed nervously realizing she had said that outloud, not knowing if other Ulaya even ate meat. She had grown very fond of the cub very quickly and did not want Amarante to think ill of her.

Amarante nodded her head to agree with Opal because it is easier to do something once someone else has proven that it's safe or works. Blushing she realizes how true her words are because she's spent so long on her own and learned so much on her travels. Of course, she felts so happy when she realized that she could help others with the lessons she's learned. Seeing as she never thought that she could teach someone older than herself because everyone learns different things where they live.
As she takes the slice of peach she licks at it a few times without her facial expression changing in fear of hurting Opal's feelings. While she licks the peach slice she realizes that she doesn't like it nor does she dislike it. While eating it she listens to Opel explain how long it will take for them to walk to where Opal lives. Which reminds Amarante how many times she's walked long distance to get where she was going. Though, she's never been anywhere long enough for anyone to host her so she has no idea what that's like so she can't help Opal with that.
After she talked about the rabbits Amarante looks up because Opal had looked down. When Opal mumbles in an annoyed manner Amarante's appear quickly resembles that of a frightened rabbit. Her body shivers, her ears go back, and her eyes fill with fear because she hadn't expected Opal to say anything like that. Yet, when she hears Opal nervously laughing she realizes that she must not have meant it. As she tries to calm herself down knowing that Opal could never harm her? She says with a slight quiver in her voice, "I've grown up eating berries, fruits, and vegetables because I'm not a meat eat as far as I know." As she talks her voice becomes stronger as she regains the calm and excitement she had before Opal mumbled out loud and and frightened her. "Having grown up by myself I ate whatever was easiest for me to reach and that was something that didn't move. Mind you I have gotten quicker, though, I have no need to hunt because I couldn't bring myself to hurt anything. The only time I would ever hurt another living creature is if they were trying to hurt or kill me." As Amarante smiles at Opal she hopes that it makes her feel better because Amarante knows she didn't mean to frighten her or say that out loud.Lady Angel Heart Don't worry about Amarante, she bounces back when she remembers she's not in danger so no harm is done to her, just hope Opal knows that.

Opal sighed for a moment wanting to be honest. She apologized for spooking Amarante but its part of her past so its part of her, even if shes not proud of it anymore. She explained that she raised by wolves, not ulaya, or alone..and tried her best to describe her former family, not knowing if Ulaya even knew of what lurked beyond the surrounding mountains. She said they'd never harm another person but not everything can live off vegetation, she had a hard time adjusting to it herself. "They told me they found me...that..I'd find my true people beyond the mountains.. and I ended up here. It's a bit much when you grow up in a cave..wild, then your introduced to all this...". Opal looked around at all the structures and the people. She still preferred being out in nature to the village. It's all she had known for years. "I'm pretty sure if these people knew where I came from ..what I came from, they'd be scared of me. I'm no monster..or cold blooded beast..I never knew anything else existed... She looked back at Amarante hoping she hadn't made the situation any worse. "I understand if you wouldn't want to stay with someone like me. Even if seeing how I am suppose to be living as my own kind... makes it all feel wrong now..." Opal sighed again now somewhat wishing she'd kept her cover as a weird loner type and braced herself, expecting Amarante to flee. That was probably more information than the poor child ever needed to hear.
