Glyssa wiggled from side to side. Finally the tide was returning back to normal but she was now in another predicament . This was clearly not her day, everything was just going wrong and she was starting to feel depressed. Feeling depressed was not a normal feeling for Glyssa. Glyssa in general was upbeat some wold say perky and a few might think her energy was annoying. However Glyssa rarely let things bother her, you could say she let negative thoughts wash off her scales like water. Since she was in ocean surrounded by water what could bother her? She had gotten herself in a few dangerous situations before but she somehow always got out of such scrapes. Luck was a kind friend to Glyssa and she was thankful that luck had treated her so nicely. However today her friend luck had clearly abandoned her, since nothing was going her way. Glyssa wiggled from side to side but she couldn't free her tail from the sticky seaweed. She had never before encountred sticky seaweed and had not know to be weary of unusual seaweed. Who knew something she ate on a daily basis could be dangerous. Glyssa struggled to free herself but the more her coat touched the seaweed the more stuck to it she had become. She yelled out into the ocean to ease the frustration bubbling up inside her. Glyssa felt better after she shouted, she still felt anxious but she felt a little less panicked. Feeling panicked in the ocean was not wise, it led to stupid decisions. Making stupid decisions in a dangerous situation could lead to death. Glyssa focused on slowing down her heart rate. She imagined a calm restful feeling and the sensation of her heart gently slowing. She thought on the way oxygen was brought to her by the water and the feeling of her lungs expanding. Glyssa was starting to feel calm, which would allow her to think of a way to free herself rather then to act out in blind panic. As she was trying to formulate a plan, she started making out the shape of a black spot off into the distance. Whatever the black spot was, it was clearly something alive and it was starting to become bigger. She hoped it was a friendly fish that could help her and not something that thought something cute and pink would be tasty. As the black spot swam closer to her she could start to make out it's shape. The size and the fin style made it clear to her that the approaching shape was of a mer. "Hello," she cried out in what she hoped was a friendly manner. A male mer swam up to her, his face was both beautiful and terrifying.

Marrow plan was starting to work. That particular fish had regularly eaten that variety of seaweed before, but they were a migrating breed of fish. It was the little Seathi's and his good luck that a school of fish was traveling through the area at this time. The fish had razor like sharp teeth that could easily slice through the sticky seaweed. It seemed like the fish were one of the few ocean creatures that ate the seaweed to gain nutrients in the diet. Most small creatures in this part of the ocean avoided he sticky seaweed that trapped the unwary. In no time the fishes experienced movements had decimated huge patches of the surrounding kelp field. Their swift nibbling soon set the little pink and purple seathi free. The little seathi seemed a bit dazed and confused when she was suddenly set free. Her eyes were very wide and Marrow was woried that she was experiencing physical shock from the experience. Marrow swam in a hovering motion with his eyes keenly watching her every movement. He was feeling worried about her and his protective nature was surfacing. She suddenly blinked, and her fins fluttered from side to side. First she appeared to be closely looking at the fish. Her gaze seemed to be fixated on the fishes long white sharp teeth. Marrow had to admit that the fish looked rather prehistoric with their sharp teeth that appeared to be sharply jutting out of the fishes jaw. If he was not familiar with this breed of ocean fish, he would have first assumed them to be carnivorous creatures. Like many scary creatures, the fish were actually quite gentle and they were actually not carniverious at all, but were in fact misunderstood vegetarians. They didn't need to free the small seathi, but their kind actions had saved her. Marrow looked at the seathi that was still looking intently at the yellow and blue fish stripped fish . " You don't need to worry that they are regarding you as their next meal. They are strict vegetarians, and are one of the few sea creatures that could have freed from the sticky sap seaweed," Marrow communicated in a light informative tone to the little seathi. The small punk pink Seathi tilted her face towards Marrow in a questioning manner. She looked like she had plenty of questions to ask Marrow, but when her pink eyes met his purple one she suddenly froze. She ducked her head down, and it appeared that her body was quickly becoming flushed. Starting from her tail, and quickly spreading from her face. She suddenly turned her head and nodded to the yellow and blue stripped fish. "Thank you, If I can ever return the favor I will," She spoke in a tired, but sweet sounding voice. Then she turned her attention to Marrow and spoke in a nervous fashion, "I want to.." Her face had become bright red and she could no longer speak fluently. She seemed panicked and she cast one quick look at Marrow face before she suddenly swam off. Marrow was quite confused by her actions. He could easily swim to catch up with her, but her actions made in seem like she was scared of him. Marrow was used to other soq and sea creatures being afraid of him because of his unusual marking. It seemed like both him and the yellow and blue stripped fish were scary looking. However the the little pink seathi, he was probably much more scary looking then the fish. -words 590

Glyssa had no control of her fins, her body shot through the water at a dizzying pace. White noise had filled her mind during her escape and her body had just reacted with little thought. Glyssa was not sure what feeling she was experiencing, but she knew she was extremely embarrassed. Her thoughts finally started to return to a more normal pattern and her fins slowed down until she was just drifting in the water. If Glyssa had acted like her typical self she would have spoke to the Mer with brashness and a bit of swagger to her words. She would have thanked him with a twinkle in her eye and in style. The Stallion would have been touched by her sincerity and her boldness. In the a usual Glyssa like manner , she would have left in impression on the stallion with her charismatic personality. However Glyssa had acted out of character. She was sure she did leave in impression on the stallion, but not a favorable one. In her mind Glyssa recreated the scenario with the stallion, she was so embarrassed. Why did she have to panic and swim off like a fish with no sense. Glyssa breathed deeply and will water saturated wth oxygen fill her gills. She tried to call her raging heart and decide what her next move would be.
However stray thought kept bugging her. "If only I kept," she whispered to herself. She could not turn back the clock of time and while she visualized all the different scenarios of how she could have acted and what she could have said, it was to late to change the past.
" Stop why are you panicking and feeling sorry for yourself?" Glyssa reprimanded herself . "You had just spent part of the day in a perilous situation, you have an excuse for not being polite to the mer. At least you thanked the fish. They were the ones that ate that horrible seaweed that had entrapped you. Beside the Mer was a stranger and the ocean is so big, it's not like your ever going to encounter the stallion again. He was just a stranger who was in the right place at the right time. You would have also helped any seathi or mer that needed help. Ocean soq help each other, that is one of the tenets you were taught growing up. The Mer can just return to his home tonight feeling accomplished that he upheld his civic duty and that he is a hero. " Glyssa tried to reason her actions and tried to cheer herself up, but a part of her was still upset by this experience. Being in danger really made a girl reflect on her life. Institutionally Glyssa knew that this experience had changed her deeply.
It had been a long day and Glyssa just wanted to settle down in her part of the Coral Reef. She settled in the piece of Coral she called home and tried to rest her aching body. While her body might have been exhausted by days experience, she did not sleep easily. Glyssa was nagged by the thought that the day had been important milestone and she had lost a special opportunity at happiness. -Words 538-
