In a small yet bustling plaza, set under the shade of a particularly large awning, sits an out-of-place looking booth. While the chitin plating-styled plastic seems to have the goal of glistening, sandy wind has quickly scratched it down to a dull matte finish. Lights sit dark in the frames, and a service drone can be seen crouched down a little way away, despondently banging a spanner against a bit of broken machinery. Nevertheless, a small crowd has gathered around the booth, and it's branding is still clear, reasonably bright, and prominent as a Superstar Authority sponsored structure. Opened boxes sit stacked behind the booth's side pillars, and a few trolls mill around unpacking and distributing various knick knacks from them, but the focus of attention is definitely the troll standing in the center of the booth.

A few trolls in Superstar Authority branded clothing circle the crowd, passing pre-signed swag out to the crowd.

Mr. Freeze and Mera's booth is decorated to reflect their aesthetic: snow patterns, lace, and their respective blood colors. Decorations are obviously tied down (as subtly as possible) for whenever the wind picks up.

The duo can be found chilling in their team aesthetic mixed with sponsor swag. Mera's chair notably has a shawl wrapped over it and some goggles hanging over in case she has to go through any sandstorms.

Civilians
If you want to pick up an item, use the code below along with min 100 words of rp. Special requests are not guaranteed to be granted, so if they are not, assume you got your item from one of the booth helpers rather than the idol, and was not able to ask for the specific request.
Oooh! Please! I want one of those!
Name: troll name w link to journal
Swag: item requested
Request: special request ie 'can you write 'to so and so'', 'can we have a photo', 'can i have a hug', 'do you have this in my blood colour', 'lets fight!!!'
Competitors & Sponsors
You can improve the crowd's like for you and your chances of making a big splash (ie winning) by answering requests from civilians. While competitors should be ideally taking as many requests as they can handle, sponsors can also help ease the workload by fielding care of requests that they can logically take care of (ie request for custom signing; can rp 'passing the request along'. request for a photo; 'i'm better to look at, take a photo with me instead!'). Once a competitor or sponsor has replied to a request it can be considered complete, no more posts are necessary from a game mechanics pov (though further roleplay is fine if desired).

Oooh! Please! I want one of those!
        Name: Mahmud Seshat
Swag: Mr. Freeze's Clay Vase! Useful, and also lovely to look at.
Request: To Mr Freeze: I want to know more about you... tell me something about yourself! Like your favorite book, or something like that!

        "Hemera!"

Mahmud practically bounded over to the booth and bumped into it. There was a small moment of panic where he pulled back and inspected the booth for any damage. Once it was established to be safe and sound, however, his attention was turned straight back to his friend. "I saw you on my tv! Kind of!" Making a little pinching moment with his fingers, Mahmud tried to demonstrate his point... and failed to do so without chattering again. "Its sort of on my microwave... three inches big..." With a bright smile, he continued speaking at the speed of light. "You did such a good job! You and your partner! Was he that friend you were looking for? Was it really hard? Do you even remember me? Its Mahmud! You showed me the Library! Your look is so good! Lace looks really nice on you ya know... oh!"

It seemed that at that moment, he noticed the other person in the booth. Briefly bristling when he realized his mistake, Mahmud shot up to stand straight and tall. There was a moment where he visibly scanned Afryse once, twice, three times... and then finally relaxed again, putting on a small smile once more. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude..." Mahmud held a hand out to Mr. Freeze. "I'm Mahmud. Your... friend helped me a while back. I wanted to support you both this competition." It was then his eyes fell to the vases, and he seemed to brighten up to his initially friendly disposition. "Did you... make these? These are beautiful..."

Oooh! Please! I want one of those!
Name: Floren
Swag: Clay Vase
Request: Who did your outfits?

After excusing himself from NOVA's booth, Floren was about to head back out of town again but... something caught his eye. Sparkling Snow's booth seemed to have the same setup that NOVA's did, but was decorated with lace. Now that was something. He spared a moment to assure Skoli that they would go back to the hive soon, then turned to trot on over to their booth. He hadn't quite gotten a good look at their outfits on TV - but now that he was up close he couldn't help but admire the craftsmanship of them. Even their sponsor items seemed really nice (there were those sunglasses again...).

When he saw an opportunity to do so, he approached the booth, holding one of Mr. Freeze's handmade vases. "Hello, I'm Floren. Did you make your own outfits? They're very pretty." He just had to know where they got them from! He would've picked up the sunglasses he'd passed on at NOVA's booth, but a vase seemed more practical for his interests.

Oooh! Please! I want one of those!
Name: Nictor Sabbat
Swag: Phoenix Down bracelet
Request: Nic needs a friend. Maybe a pat on the shoulder. Mayhaps even a hug 0: On second thought no hug, me might freak out worse

Nictor nervously made his way through the crowds, feeling rather skittish and jumpy. He hadn't been this bad in ages, and he spaced out staring at his own reflection whenever he caught it when passing the front windows of the stores that lined the streets. Then, inevitably, he would get jostled and jump so violently he nearly brained himself and wound up hitting the offender, more often than not. Then he just felt worse and stuttered out a poor apology before absconding away.

He hadn't felt so off key in a while. It had grown to be more of a rare occurrence than a foregone conclusion that his living state of being existed within a realm of isolated and volatile anxiety. Somehow, he was having a worse time trying to reconcile his recent encounter with Toothy than he had his rather disastrous St. Perigee gift delivery trip to Kolako. Considering that, he probably shouldn't even be out and about right now, given his state of mind, but he'd seen a few clips of the Superstar Authority broadcasts and he'd recognized Hemera up on stage.

She knew him long enough, knew enough about him, that he didn't think she'd be bothered if he didn't decide to drop by. The crowds were certainly a deterrent that he was always hesitant to brave. Yet here he was, stumbling his way through the masses to locate the booth with the familiar tealblood.

It was some sick curiosity that drove him, a deep and terrifying resignation that wished for nothing more than to see this done sooner rather than later. Toothy had seemed nice, had offered to help Nictor with something he found difficulty in and didn't let Nictor's less than enthusiastic attitude ruin his mood. By the end of the encounter though, Nictor wasn't sure what to think of the blueblood who had tried to beat him into a pulp. Would Toothy have stopped at pulp? If Nictor hadn't, by some stroke of luck, managed to wear the other down, would that final strike at his face been followed up with worse? He didn't know and it confused him enough to give him a migraine and nearly bring him to tears again. The problem was that he trusted Toothy, as stupid as he was for it. He'd trusted the blueblood and he'd tried to kill him.

Nictor desperately tried to shake the notion away but it wouldn't leave. Instead it haunted him, smothering him slowly, and now sitting at the cusp, waiting. Teetering back and forth, back and forth.

He trusted a highblood and see where that got him. Trolls were violent and terrible and he knew that, he always knew that and now it had been proven. Now, it was just a matter of time before everyone else turned on him too. He thought of Kolako and felt a disgusting deathly warm spread in his gut. It was warm like rotten meat left to decay under the heat of day, reheated and gross and utterly rancid.

That gross, deathly warm feeling is what drove him from his hive that day to see Hemera. Was he imagining it the whole time? Was she ever nice to begin with or had he somehow tricked himself? Would she turn on him to? Was he assuming the worst of her for no reason now? He didn't know, his thinkpan was utterly fried and he just, he knew he had to go see her.

Which is what led Nictor to standing in front of Sparkling Snow's booth, fingers digging into his own arms hard enough to bruise as he stared on in a daze, slowly approaching Hemera. When he was finally close enough to talk though, he finally realized he didn't know what to say.

"I...uh, h-h----hey, He---mera," He stuttered, voice thinner than usual, as if he barely had enough air to speak. And he looked like an absolute wreck. His brows were furrowed in a slight upwards tilt, eyes big and almost watering. His smile was shaky and more of a weak grimace than anything else. The real attention getter was the way his face was bandaged up across the middle, covering a lot of his cheeks and nose, the shape distorted under the thick wrap with spots of fresh blood blooming across the fabric. "I j-j-just ah----I w-w-want---ed...I---I dunno. I dunno. S-s-sorry."

A sudden surprise, almost out of nowhere, Mahmud swooced in. And started talking. A lot. Mera had to smile through all of it, though it got a little difficult with the lack of any openings on her end. Eventually, though, she got one. "Of course I remember you, Mahmud. I'm glad to see you again! You're looking well after Bloodfest. Yes, this is my friend-now-partner, and all is well. I think we have a lot to talk about so we should set a date somewhere to chat more... For now, I'll leave you to Mr. Freeze and his work," she nodded, both cordial and amiable about it. Afryse getting a chance to socialize was always good in her book.

She turned to the next person to come up. "Hello, Floren. You may call me Mera. And I did make these outfits! It took a lot of work and some altered table doilies, but it was very worth it. If you have any more questions, I would be happy to answer them."

Or, she would be, but Nictor had decided to pop up not long after. And he looked like...a bit of a mess. With a bandage over his face. What on Alternia?

"Nictor..." What was there to even say? Between a persona and her own self? "I'm glad you're here to support us tonight. But. Um. I have to ask... Are you all right? You seem distressed." She slowly started putting a hand on his shoulder. "What happened?"

Afryse carefully placed pot after pot on the shelf, making sure each one looked the right way. Symmetry was a valuable thing in art, especially in showing off artistic wares. Was this fine? Humming, he tilted his head to the left, then the right. "That should do --"

Then some idiot, a teen, damn near ran into their booth. He wanted to seethe at them, to cut them down for their stupidity but remained quiet and furious with cold disinterest as the redblood chatted with Hemera. Another friend? She seemed to collect them easily.

Mahmud's question caught his ear, forcing the ice prince to stop sulking and actually pay attention. "Yes, they are." Okay, a little too terse. He WAS trying to be a star, and his persona was one of polite smugness, "But only those with a good eye can tell such. Thank you. I have been making art on and off for all my childhood. Mostly on, that is." He chuckled softly, loosened by the friendly question.

"How did you and Hemera meet? I hope it wasn't over her cooking."

Another visitor? Surprising that someone would be interested in talking to them. Still, Afryse felt a little pride that the young greenblood was holding one of the clay pots.

"Hello Floren, I'm Mr. Freeze. This is Mera." Outfits, huh? Nodding he motioned towards Hemera, "Mera was the one who designed and sewed them. She's marvelous at it, really. Your outfit is quite nice. I like your top." Somehow he wasn't sure what to say before that, feeling himself want to prattle on about the pots or art, but remaining quiet.

Altered table doilies- he never would have known! "They look like they would be a lot of work, but very well done work. I thought you were going to name a designer, or something." He grinned, shrugging a little as he adjusted the pot in his hands. By that point Mr. Freeze had come over and introduced himself. "Thank you. The table said you made this- is that true?" He held up the pot, then continued, "I was thinking of putting plants in it- do you think if I make a hole in the bottom carefully it will break?" He'd hate to do that- but he supposed he could use it for something else if modifying it to hold plants wouldn't work.

Nictor might have started spacing the moment he trailed off, staring through Hemera as she spoke to him. He'd worked himself up so much over this and now that she was in front of him, his head was clamoring to go in far too many directions for him to even parse what he was trying to think.

While his upper faculties were at a standstill, he made what observations he could.

The tealblood was there in front of him, decked in a fancy looking lacy dress, surrounded by pomp and propaganda. The other half of Hemera's duo act was nearby, another yellowblood, if the outfit was anything to base his judgment off of. The outfits seemed to match too, with lacy skirts, interlocking in intricate threading and Nictor's meager focus decided to trace it for a moment before it blanked again.

He probably shouldn't be out of his hive at all right now.

Nictor watched Hemera's hand approach, but was frozen. He watched with trepidation, seeming to pull into himself as her hand came close, but he didn't pull away.

This is it. This will be his answer. A hand, seeming gentle approaching him, possibly to slap, to grab, to wring, presented like a peace offering to pull the rug out from under you then strangle you when you're down. The uncomfortable warm that possessed him was distracting and uncomfortable but it wouldn't abate in the slightest until he had an answer so here he was subjecting himself to exposure to a potentially deadly foe because he needed an answer. He needed something because sitting swaddled in blankets and pulling at the end of his braid while he stared at a wall wasn't helping.

And when Hemera's hand finally rested on his shoulder, he braced, eyes squinching shut, a small flinch running through him. After a few seconds, his eyes blinked back open, staring at Hemera's hand in distressed incomprehension, but he slowly began to relax, seeming more lost than anything.

It was anticlimactic. It was simple. It was basic interaction, a gesture of comfort and support and kindness that he had literally no reason not to expect from her except his sudden resurgent and exaggerated fear of highbloods and trolls and impending violence.

It was just Hemera, who had never made a mean motion towards him, and even if he still felt like a hunted child at this moment, he didn't think today he would be betrayed. Or, was it a betrayal if they never cared in the first place?

Nictor was a bit too strung out to follow that train of thought at the moment. Instead, he managed to turn his focus to the reality of the situation and less on his hypothetical meanderings. The silence had strung long enough that it was more than obvious he was dealing with something, but maybe he could still brush this off.

With the personal revelation that Hemera, one of the few faces he considered friendly, was still as considerate and nice to him as ever, he almost wilted, having only been sustained by his own anxious energy up until now. He was exhausted, and while this reaction was a reassurance that pulled him from his convoluted internal conflict, it also made him aware of everything he'd been glossing over and such as he felt horrible and wanted to sleep and this was a public function and he looked like a damned disaster.

Great, all he'd done was probably worry Hemera unnecessarily while she was trying to do work. Nictor barely knew what was going on, but he sure as heck didn't want to mess anything up for her.

"I, ah....s-sorry," Nictor huffed, voice still soft. His hands came up to rub at his face helplessly, but he flinched and flung his hands down with a grimace when they pressed to his forgotten bandages. "R-really, I'm s-s-sorry."

Nictor had no idea how to explain himself.

"I-I'm just, uh, t-t-trying to, ah, fi----gure s---omething out. D-don't w-w-worry about i-it. I-I'm fine. I---uh," Nictor made another aborted motion to rub at his face and smiled weakly at the older teen. "S-s-sorry, I-I'm tir---ed. I th-think I should go. G-good luck, Hemera."

It took a moment, his hand halting a little but he raised his hand to lightly squeeze the elbow of the arm extended towards him, gentle barely there pressure, but he hope it told he was sincere.

"I-I'll s----ee y-you another t-time." With that the yellowblood gave a parting tired smile and began to shuffle away through the crowd.
