Name: Ardashir aka "Dash"
Age: 16
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: None (Thieving)
Rank: None ( He thinks he's a Master)
Location: High Reaches (not by choice! Sort of. Ok the Search Rider made it sound WAY better!)
Physical Description:
Dash is ... well.

Dash is short, okay. He's really sharding short at an even 5'1" and he hates that facet of himself passionately. "Short Man Complex" doesn't even begin to describe the impact his height has had on his life, and if you thought certain unnamed franchise characters from popular anime took insults to their stature personally, just try insulting Dash on his. He has always been short, and since he grew up in a well-to-do household, he can't even blame improper nutrition on his growth impediment. Nope, he's just short, and always will be. His father was short. His uncles are short. His brothers are short. It's in his genes, and it burns that he is just the shortest.

Beyond that, this lad keeps himself in stellar shape. He's really fit and toned for a boy in his teens, with hard edged muscles and a quickness about him that even if you expected it you would be surprised. He's well suited to his new line of work, no matter how he'll deny it, and he takes great pains to keep himself in tip top shape. Cleanliness is another important thing to the boy, to the point that he would rather take risks snatching clean clothing. Scratch that, pilfering clean clothing off the line is the easy part, this boy takes risks by taking baths where he really shouldn't... but feels are where he ought to be bathing.

Height and good hygiene aside, he's got fluffy black hair that he also hates, as he thinks it emasculates him, which he slicks back with still more stolen hair products. This never does a lick of good, but does give his hair a rather attractive curly look. The ladies he comes across tend to love it, which he'll shamelessly take advantage of to escape a pinch. His skin is alabaster white in the time honored tradition of the high born from the North, something he actually does take pride in, and he likes to think he's got his mother's lovely aquamarine eyes. While the shade is right, his are too hard, have seen too much, to ever be as kindly as his long-deceased mother.

Personality:
There is an awful lot that makes up a person, and little Dash is no different.

A product of his environment and the changes wrought in it, Dash began his life as a basically good kid... if a little arrogant and prone to reckless episodes. These features were exacerbated as he grew, being the treasured first son of a minor ranking personage in Nabol Hold, and he took what attention was lavished on him with ill grace. He was a intelligent child, though, and learned rather quickly that lying got him nowhere and was just distasteful, but that didn't mean he had to be particularly nice to others in order to get what he wanted. Most times he didn't even have to ask for things, they just appeared, and he grew up literally with a silver spoon at the corner of his mouth.

As he grew (moderately) and his father took him under his wing to train as a potential steward, Dash took to education like a fish to water, with the added bonus of gaining more attention and praise the better he did. As a result, he's shaffing good with numbers, and tends to enjoy logic puzzles. He's a natural problem solver, taking pride in every solution found, though he tends to become moody if his achievements are not quickly (and properly) praised. Being moody doesn't keep him from bettering himself, however, he's just dangerous to be around between the time he feels he has been slighted and the moment he decides he's over it. Luckily for the world, Dash doesn't actually have that much of a long-term temper. He boils quickly and vents his displeasure, then largely returns to his standard operating pressure.
That doesn't mean he doesn't ever stay angry, however. No, Dash has a vindictive streak in him that is chilly to cross; it just takes an awful lot of digging to cross it. Petty things like stealing his chalk slate or painting his face while he sleeps won't arouse this deep hotbed of trouble, those will just get the standard mini explosion before blowing over. No, things like completely destroying his home and leaving the bodies of people he once respected hanging from the eaves turn his heart to ice.

He'll never forget what happened to his childhood home, and he will never forgive the hoards of selfish, ignorant, savages who burned it. He's not bent on vengeance, per say, but he refuses to help them and sees absolutely nothing wrong with taking back from society when he feels society has first taken from him. He fancies himself a lone wolf now, independent from the laws and the 'greater good,' deciding to take that Ancient concept of survival of the fittest to the max. Who is a Lord to command him? Who gave any man or woman the right to lead him when they are themselves so easily swayed to evil. Dash may only be a boy, but he's acquired a rather well developed sense of what is wrong, and the wrongs committed by society are so far into the wrong category he's losing track of what 'right' even looks like. Or even if any group of people is capable of doing right.

On a personal level, Dash does not indulge in downtime. Relaxation is for people who don't have enough to do, and as far as Dash is concerned, he's always got something to do. An inherently hard worker, he does not shirk from punishments or extra duties when they come his way, but don't think he's doing it for you or your bit if justice. Caught in a lady's bath house? Right on, he'll take that fortnight in in the slammer and spend that time talking to the people in there. Jails are the best trade schools on the planet as he discovered awhile back, and even if he won't learn successful tips, he'll certainly pick up quickly what doesn't work. That's right, he wants to be in there, and you can take that a step farther and say he let you catch him in the bathhouse as well. His arrogance and pride, both deeply set keystone facets of his personality, can take a few hits here and there. They won't be taken down a peg.

Sometimes, though, a little flicker of the good kid he might have been emerge. They are never consistent, and he does his pompous best to explain them away in terms better suited to describing trash pickup, but they happen. Little things like filtering some of his stolen food to a little holdless orphan he passes starving on the street. Observing a man beating his wife, and stealing something to plant on him so the man is spotted and apprehended by Hold guards if available... or given to street justice if not. He's no Robin Hood, but he was told a variation of that story once by his mother... and it is safe to say a bit of that has shaped his outlook on life. He'll use his smarts to get himself places, and if a little windfall helps someone else, well... he's a lone wolf shardit, he does what he wants!

Romance has not, and likely will not, occur to him any time soon. He's not charming, and does not try to be, but he is a good looking lad and has garnered attention from both sexes in passing. To all comers, he turns them away, and hasn't yet demonstrated any sort of preference one way or the other.
Positive Trait List Honest, adventurous, brave, empathic, determined
Negative Trait List Arrogant, pompous, reckless, vindictive, proud
History:
Raised in Nabol Hold, his well-to-do family crossed someone the wrong way, and ended up on the bad side of a dangerous deal. Naturally, of course, who's to say that it wasn't anything but actual poor and hungry folk venting their aggression against a wealthy family? You don't think the Lord of Nabol would be a part of this, do you? Of course not.

Sadly, Dash has no idea that the loss of his family and their business partners is anything but what it appears - an out of control mob breaking free of civilized 'control' and ransacking his family home. The Hold Guards put the 'rabble' down quickly enough, after all ... just not fast enough to save the family inside.

As for Dash, he survived by sheer luck, having been out visiting a friend for the sevenday. Upon returning, he quickly figured out that he would not find shelter anywhere - even his former friend stopped answering to knocks on the door. When given the option to beg, borrow or steal - Dash opted for the last. He hasn't looked back since, or at least, he didn't

Not until a chance encounter (when he wasn't gunning for a purse) with a search rider from the High Reaches changed everything.
