Ugh, hunting! If she never heard that word again, it would be too soon. Makeda flopped onto her side, paws sprawled out beside her. A gusty sigh followed her down. The curl of dust raised from her exasperated cry was almost as dramatic as the fall itself.
It was all his fault, honestly. As if dragging her across the roguelands wasn't bad enough, now he'd outright abandoned her! Couldn't even tell her why - just that he was off "scouting". The sador huffed. The only thing she could see him scouting out was yet another pretty lioness he could drag back to the pride.
Granted, he hadn't left her in the worst place. The hillock was gravelly dirt and scrubby grass; hardly the most luxurious, but not uncomfortable. They had dug out the hollow underneath to fit the pair of them... Calling it cozy sounded far nicer than it was. If fit them snugly, perhaps. A bare, ugly little bush squatted in front of the hollow, doing its level best to partially obscure the female rolling onto her back to see the sky. It might have succeeded, were she not a particularly pale lioness. The buff-and-cream of her pelt all but glowed against the deep blues of the oncoming night.
She'd make him pay for all her tribulations soon enough, though. If she squinted, and tilted her head juuust so, Makeda fancied that the rising half-moon almost resembled a certain wannabe demon's smile. Outstretched claws raked slowly, even a little wistfully, across that representative grin. Now, if only she could get up the courage to do the same to his smug, stupid face.

This soft colored female looked angry as Ochieng spotted her as he walked about with no real destination in mind. He had broke off from his little band of a family, his brother and his now mate, a female had had a fling with. His son was already all grown up so he knew it was time to find something of his own. What that was he wasn't too sure but the gentle -- somewhat gentle -- male would figure it out.
"Lost?" The husky color male asked as he came up closer to the female. "Male troubles?"
She looked a bit feisty, not terrible in a lioness. Her eyes though, as he got closer, made him lose himself in them. "Ochieng." Smirking at her.

My, my. Suddenly the smile framed in her claws was much more interesting. The smirk on this mystery lion inspired one of her own, which only grew as Makeda rolled to her feet. "Male troubles?" She replied in a voice tinged with laughter. "You find a lioness, alone in the grasslands - and it must be male troubles?"
She actually did laugh then, purposely soft and a little breathy. She hoped she exuded the confidence she felt, shaking debris from her shoulders and neck in a cascading ruff of cream fur. "You must meet the luckiest ladies." And why shouldn't she be confident? She'd seen his like before. Bold enough to approach a lioness alone, but sweet enough to give her fair greeting. She knew, too, the look on his face. Makeda was all too willing to keep him lost in her gaze.
"I'm Makeda. What has you wandering tonight, Ochieng?"

"To be honest, I don't know many ladies." He chuckled, noting her eye color more and more. It was those that reflected his own that made his world spin. Color of amethyst. "I only just raised a son I didn't know what mine or my brothers. After that I really haven't done much traveling." He shrugged a little. He had met those crazy loud lions but his son was still young and he hadn't wanted to be too far from the youth and that was before finding out.
"Your eyes Makeda. They are beautiful. Sorry to stare, they're just like mine is all." Giving her a compliment. Another smirk as he said it. He always loved his eyes and hadn't run across many with the same color.

The smirk spread into a smile, one that relaxed Makeda's expression and crinkled the corners of those lavender eyes. She let his words settle around her, spicing the air with hidden promises. The sweet males weren't her favorite, but they were very nice nonetheless. This fellow in particular was a breath of fresh air compared to recent company. "Lucky ladies indeed, then," she chuckled, stepping smoothly forward into the Ochieng's personal space. One paw would lift, slowly, to prod him in the chest - should he allow it. "And you're clearly a discerning sort, right? Only meeting the best of us."
The grin she flashed him bordered on cheeky, only growing more serious when he mentioned her eyes. Of course they were beautiful! That was their whole point. Eyes like jewels, to enthrall and fascinate, lure and be coveted. Like his, though...? She was forced to regard him a little more closely. They did look a great deal alike, but... No. There was no shock of recognition there, not like there had been when she'd looked at Amadi.
The lioness purred after a moment, amusement lending a little audacity to the way she leaned into the male. "I'll give you, they're very similar. Yours have more of a flush to them, I think. But certainly no less lovely." More to the point, maybe they were light enough to meet the standards she remembered. How might Berihun react, she wondered, if she brought back a few sador in a more unconventional fashion? How would any of them?

The male chuckled at her but cocked his head to the side a little confused by who the best of us were, "Best of us?" Ochieng asked as he sat there. "What do you mean?" Though the husky colored male turned his head away at the compliment of his eyes.
Makeda was a stunning specimen of the lioness, a very gentle pelt color and overall a strong looking female. Him being complimented was a bit different for him, then again so was whatever it was they were doing. He had spent so much time with his brother and the other lioness and then his son that experience with others wasn't high on that list.
Then he blurted out, "I fought with some Nergui." Did that sound cool? He hardly knew anything about that particular pride just that it was a savage sort of thing they were doing when he had stumbled upon them.

Even his confusion was cute! A purr welled in Makeda's throat; what an utter delight this was turning out to be. "You said you hadn't met many ladies," she elaborated, leaning into him further as she did. "So it stands to reason that, since you aren't keeping company with very many, that the only ladies you bother to meet are the very best of us. Present company included, of course." The lioness grinned up at him, losing no time as an opportunity presented itself. No sooner had Ochieng turned his head away that she pressed closer, tucking her own head underneath his, and her cheek against that wonderfully pale mane. A purr welled up from someplace deep in her throat.
It stuttered, but didn't quite stop, at his awkward addition. "The Nergui?" She choked out, expression blanching a bit. "I've never...never met one. But I've heard that they're godslayers..." Granted, Makeda hadn't put much stock in gods beyond what she'd been taught - not until she had come to the Aegnor'hini. Gods walked among the demons like they belonged there. Rubbed shoulders with those overconfident, dark-pelted creatures like brothers! And she hadn't quite decided if she was alright with that. "Far be it from me to question your bravery, but why on earth were you fighting with them?" The sador shuddered, curling closer into her lion of the hour. All the better if her little distraction came with an exciting tale to tell.

"You are a very pretty lioness, that I will admit." Ochieng purred. Strange that a lioness he just met was all over him but he did like it none the less. "You are the second lady I have taken a shining to." The bright male stated. "Though seems I am not as rusty as I thought." He chuckled seeing as she was also taking a shining to him.
Ochieng caught the stutter in her purr at the mention of Nergui. Yes he had heard that too about them and that they were a vicious pride but he didn't really know them. "They were doing some sort of fighting ring. It seemed interesting at the time and played on the very primal parts of my soul. I wanted to see what was going on." He gave a shrug, "I didn't really get to fight but their chaos isn't what I like. I am a fighter but whatever that was I had seen was just chaos."

"Rusty? Why would you be?" Makeda chuckled. "Certain things... Well, they're like chasing prey, aren't they? Not the kind of thing you forget, even if you haven't done them in a while." Well, there it was. The tone of the lioness' voice suggested exactly what she wanted from this lion, if her actions up until now hadn't already made it clear. If he was anything like the rogue males she'd heard stories about, he wouldn't make any particular claim to any offspring that would arise from a little tryst like this; he probably wouldn't be around long enough to see them round out her belly.
And while she may have thought, just for a moment there, earlier, that Ochieng was different than your average male... His story about the Nergui put pause to that. It didn't matter how sweet a lion seemed, they were all so hot-blooded when you got right down to it. So eager to get into a scrap just for the sake of fighting. The revelation was a bit of a disappointment, but at least that primal part of his soul would be assurance that her little jewel-eyes grew up strong.
Makeda's back arched, carrying her away from the lion's side. She allowed herself a moment to stretch, nose pointed skyward and eyes closed against the cool light of the ascending moon. When she opened them again, it was to glance playfully over her shoulder. "The night is getting on, Ochieng. Do you have other places to wander?" She smirked, glancing none-too-subtly at her shelter under the hillock. "If not, the night is awfully chill. A little extra warmth in the den tonight would be so nice."

He chuckled, guess she was right in a way. She was very pretty and so the idea of staying with her just a bit longer was fine for him.He had been traveling a lot anyway and his paws needed at least a moments rest. "I would like to continue wandering but I think that it would be best to take a moment and collect myself. Thank you for the offer." Following her to wherever it was that they were going to sleep.
